One Million Characters Created in Saint’s Row Initiation Station

THQ has announced that the gaming community has created over one million characters in their Saint’s Row Initiation Station. The Initiation Station is available now on Xbox LIVE, PlayStation Network, and Steam. It lets gamers create custom characters with all sorts of style and options – then, use those characters in the retail game when it is released.

“The characters we’ve seen are mostly ridiculous, often hilarious, and always over-the-top. And now there are a million of them,” said Kevin Kraff, Vice President, Global Brand, THQ. “With the crazed creativity we’ve seen in only one week, we can’t wait to see what’s to come. One million is just the beginning.”

Saint’s Row: The Third is due out on November 15 in North America.

Vuzix Wrap 920 Video Eyewear Review

Recently, we at GamingShogun.com got the chance to review the Wrap 920 video eyewear from Vuzix. These babies promise to provide a high quality way to watch your movies, TV shows, and videos in the privacy of your own eyewear.

Official Specifications

  • Equivalent to a 67-inch screen as viewed from ten feet (approximately 3 m)
  • Twin high-resolution 640 x 480 LCD displays
  • 60Hz progressive scan update rate
  • Ultra-low video distortion
  • 31 degree diagonal field of view
  • 24-bit true color (16 million colors)
  • Independent +2 to -5 diopter focus adjustment
  • Weighs less than three ounces

The Vuzix Wrap 920 video eyewear is very stylish. Gone are the days of Vuzix video eyewear products looking like bulky Geordi La Forge visors. The Wrap 920 is sleek and sexy with black plastic frames and charcoal lenses. Unfortunately, the earbud cabling of the unit is left hanging in the breeze and could tangle up if you are not careful. Setting up the Vuzix Wrap 920 is fairly straight forward. Simply connect the input cabling from the devices control box into your video source and put the eyewear on. You can interface the Wrap 920 with devices like iPhones, iPads, and even laptop and desktop computers with the VGA adapter (sold separately). Using the device is really simple, but did have some drawbacks. First, the unit is pretty heavy for a piece of eyewear. For TV show viewing, this probably won’t be an issue for you. However, decide to pop in a full, feature-length film and you will most likely feel it after a spell. While the product website claims the viewing experience is the equivalent to watching a 67-inch monitor from a distance of 10 feet. While this is somewhat true, and not uncomfortable once you adjust the focus knob via an included screwdriver device, it is definitely not HD quality and that fact shows.

Overall, the Vuzix Wrap 920 video eyewear is a cool way to watch movies or play games if you need some privacy. They are a bit too weighty still to use on-the-go for very long and the resolution really needed to be in an HD format to appease my inner videophile – however, if you are looking for a simple way to watch some flicks and not keep everyone else in the room awake or distracted, these could be for you. The retail for $299.95 over at Vuzix official website.
