Billy Dee Williams Joins John Carter of Mars: The Audio Series

Legendary actor Billy Dee Williams of has joined the cast of Pocket Universe Productions’ John Carter of Mars: The Audio Series as Tardos Mors, Jeddak of Helium, opposite Wasé Chief as his granddaughter, Dejah Thoris.

Williams brings seven decades of stage and screen work to the role, debuting on Broadway at age seven. Audio drama is familiar ground for him: in addition to originating Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, he played the character in the NPR radio adaptations of both films and performed in radio plays on New York college stations in the 1960s.

“Billy brings a true majesty to the role as a Martian warrior-king,” says Michael Kogge, writer and director of the audio series. “He is authoritative and regal, yet he can also shift his tone at a moment’s notice to being the kind and wise grandfather of Princess Dejah Thoris. There are scenes he performs that moved us all to tears in the studio. Billy does it all with his voice.”

Williams has completed recording. Further details on his episodes will be announced in the coming months.

Also joining the cast is Saturn Award-winning actress Clare Kramer as Gozava, mother of the Thark rebel Sola. Kramer is best known as Glory in season five of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a performance TV Guide ranked among television’s best villains, and as Courtney Egbert in Bring It On. She also co-produced the boxing documentary Tyson, which premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.

Kramer is also an established voice in genre media, having moderated convention panels internationally and worked as a correspondent for CNN, Access Hollywood, and E! News, interviewing pop-culture icons such as William Shatner and Stan Lee. She can currently be heard in the first season of the audio fiction podcast Elfquest, adapted from Richard and Wendy Pini’s comic series.

“Clare is a marvelous performer and person to boot,” says Lance Roger Axt, the head of Pocket Universe. “To have her in John Carter of Mars is nothing short of a privilege. She brings out the soulful side of the otherwise brutal Tharks.”

Radio Commander: Pacific ’41 Gameplay Video

During Slitherine Next, the biannual event showcasing all the latest news about the publisher’s future projects, the future of the series was unveiled.

After the first successful title, Radio Commander: Vietnam ‘64, the publisher acquired the franchise in December 2025, diving into the effort to highlight these hidden gems.

Prepare your maps, sharpen your instincts, and await further orders. The battlefield is changing, and victory will belong to those who can make cunning decisions with incomplete information.

Radio Commander: Pacific ’41 is entering the headquarters. The next chapter in the Radio Commander franchise expands the original concept into the vast and unforgiving Pacific War. Here, commanders will not witness the fighting firsthand. There is no direct view of the battlefield, only reports, static-filled transmissions, and the burden of command.

Can you fight a war without ever looking at the field?

Lead operations across the Pacific by interpreting fragmented intelligence, issuing radio commands, coordinating tactical missions, and making decisions entirely from the operations room.

Bandai Namco Unveils the World of Gundam Rogue Orbit at SDCC

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. revealed new details for GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The company unveiled the game’s connection to the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, a closer look at the worldview, and new information for Gunpla. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios Inc., GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is a fast-paced, high-mobility action game that introduces a brand-new timeline in the Gundam saga, where humanity fights for survival against an unknown threat. The game is slated to launch in 2027 on PlayStation®5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC via Steam®. For more information, visit gundamrogueorbit.com.

Special guests from the Gundam team from Japan attended the panel to highlight the RG Project, a new initiative that connects the upcoming anime Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO and GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT through a shared world. The project’s worldview was created by director Kenji Kamiyama and author Toh Enjoe, establishing the foundation for a setting that will be expanded through a never-before-seen approach in the Gundam series. Players will experience the game as a Gundam pilot in an original story set beyond the events of the anime. Attendees also got a closer look at the official worldview synopsis:

The three revelations delivered by the Autonomous Interstellar Object from another galaxy ushered in an age of unprecedented prosperity, allowing humanity to expand across the entire solar system.

Gravity Control. FTL Communication. Cognitive Materialization. Yet less than ten years after its discovery, the Object that had delivered these three revelations suddenly ran rampant, spawning an aggressive, self-proliferating ecosystem.

Humanity came to see this unknown ecosystem as the Apocalypse.

For three months, humanity fought the Apocalypse to a standstill in orbit above Earth. Forced to abandon the planet, humanity marked that year as A.A. 1—the first year After Apocalypse.

By A.A. 45, children born on the Moon and in space colonies have never known life without the Apocalypse.

And on the lunar surface, a boy named Ray Azumi awakens—

The presentation also revealed more details about the Gundam Helix, the high-mobility mobile suit piloted by ace pilot RE-X. In GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, players will suit up as RE-X to battle enemy hordes, massive bosses, and seemingly insurmountable challenges in fast-paced combat across sprawling battlefields. Designed with a strong focus on realism, Gundam Helix was crafted to feel like a weapon that could exist in the real world, while its waist and spinal design draw inspiration from Gundam ZERO in Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO.

GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT tie-ins across the broader Gundam universe were also announced. Fans can look forward to the HG 1/144 GUNDAM HELIX Gunpla model kit at retailers, while the game’s Collector’s Edition will include the exclusive HG 1/144 ARK-10 GUNDAM HELIX (EARTH BLUE ver.). GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT will also join the Gundam Card Game, with a promotional card featuring the game’s key art to be distributed at events ahead of its inclusion in future products.
