Publisher THQ Nordic and developer Campfire Cabal have released a brand-new developer diary for Expeditions: Samurai. In “The Art of Expeditions: Samurai”, the veteran team behind the critically acclaimed Expeditions: Conquistador, Expeditions: Viking, and Expeditions: Rome offers a behind-the-scenes look at the artistic vision and visual development of its upcoming historical RPG.

Creative Director Jonas Wæver discusses how the team drew inspiration from Japan and traditional Japanese art to shape the game’s visual identity. The video also showcases concept art, character customization, and the team’s ongoing efforts to push the game’s visuals even further in Unreal Engine 5.

The developer diary further reveals that, for the first time in an Expeditions game, players will see their fully customized character model during dialogue sequences. Companion characters will also feature dynamic facial expressions that reflect their mood and relationship with the player.

Expeditions: Samurai is coming to PC this Summer and will be available via Early Access. Wishlist the game on Steam: https://thqn.net/es-steam
