The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan ‘Anthology’ Trailer

August 21, 2019 — BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. and Supermassive Games released a new teaser trailer for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, which illuminates both the title’s driving mysteries and its place within the larger anthological series.

Developed by Supermassive Games, the critically-acclaimed studio behind the cult-classic thriller Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of standalone cinematic horror games anchored by three common threads: an unprecedented amount of branching gameplay—even for a Supermassive title—that yields near-limitless replayability; 5 controllable characters (per game) who can all live and die based on the players’ choices; and The Curator, an omnipresent narrator-like figure who seems to know just a little bit too much about Supermassive’s horrifying new universe.

Man of Medan will serve as the maiden voyage for the anthology, offering players a bottomless ocean of chilling experiences to be braved either with a friend or—for the particularly daring—alone. The title is slated to set sail on August 30, 2019 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Steam® for PC.

The Curse of Pandora’s Box Coming to Halloween Horror Nights

Universal City, CA, August 21, 2019 – Temptation is unleashed in “The Curse of Pandora’s Box,” Universal Studios Hollywood’s all-original “Halloween Horror Nights” maze that spills the evils of humanity across this twisted ancient Greek mythology-inspired experience, beginning Friday, September 13.

Greed is the underlying theme of this all-new maze, resurrected from Universal Studios Hollywood’s vault of masterful storytelling that transports guests from the land of the living into the nightmarish netherworld of Hades. The scene begins with “Pandora’s Cabinet of Curiosities,” a dilapidated storefront set in modern times that is, nonetheless, eerily reminiscent of a structure that belongs in the dark and dangerous back alleys of Victorian London.

Amid every occultist artifacts and forbidden relics known to man, the bizarre shop houses an all-consuming collection of evil trapped behind glass-encased cabinets, including a giant, ornate box inlaid with human bones and adorned with the silhouette of a mysterious woman clasping her body with skeletal arms.

As guests pass through the shop they will hear a faint, yet seductive voice echoing the words, “anything can be acquired, anything our hearts desire,” beckoning maze-goers to tempt fate, just as a cataclysmic earthquake erupts, shaking the shop and swinging open the ornate box to awaken a demonic voice whispering in a foreign tongue to “come inside.”

Once Pandora’s Box has been opened and evil unleashed, it can never be closed again.

Tickets for “Halloween Horror Nights” are on sale now, including the first-ever Fan Preview Night which offers an exclusive sneak peek of the event on Thursday, September 12, before it officially opens to the public on Friday, September 13.

“Halloween Horror Nights” brings together the sickest minds in horror to immerse guests in a living, breathing, three-dimensional world of terror and features a slate of unrivaled film and television production quality mazes, frightful scare zones and live performances, inspired by today’s most definitive horror properties.

This year’s 10 mazes include “Us,” based on Jordan Peele’s critically-acclaimed blockbuster film; the iconic pop culture classic “Ghostbusters;” the Netflix original series “Stranger Things;” the 1980s film thriller, “Killer Klowns from Outer Space;” “Creepshow,” inspired by the 1980s cult classic film and the new anthology series airing on Shudder; Rob Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses;” “Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man,” inspired by Universal’s original cinematic monsters and the movie studio that invented the horror films; the all-original “Holidayz in Hell” maze and “The Walking Dead.”

Updates on “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Studios Hollywood are available online at Hollywood.HalloweenHorrorNights.com and on Facebook at: “Halloween Horror Nights – Hollywood,” Instagram at @HorrorNights and Twitter at @HorrorNights as Creative Director John Murdy reveals a running chronicle of exclusive information. World of Warships Unveils First Three Nations to Get Submarines

Austin, TX August 21, 2019 – After recently announcing the upcoming arrival of submarines as playable vessels in World of Warships, publisher and developer Wargaming has unveiled more details on their unique features as well as their plans for the launch of the long-awaited ship class during Gamescom 2019.

A brand-new cinematic trailer and a gameplay video showing the submarines combat abilities are available on the official channel.

Three nations will be the first to receive these stealthy combat machines, including:

  • The United States: the Cachalot (Tier VI), Salmon (Tier VIII) and Balao (Tier X).
  • Germany: the U-69 (Tier VI), U-190 (Tier VIII) and U-2501 (Tier X).
  • USSR: the S-1 (Tier VI), L-20 (Tier VIII) and K1 (Tier X).

In the next couple of weeks, players will get a first glimpse of submarines during the upcoming Super Test phase. Prospective commanders can already look forward to this fall’s PvP event, which will let them try out submarines from the first three nations for a limited time to evaluate the changes brought by the introduction of the new ship-class before its actual release. Wargaming is looking to expand the selection of submarines to other nations in the future, with the Japanese fleet to follow, as well as the future introduction of additional researchable and premium ships.

The uniqueness of submarines resides in their ability to appear in places where they are least expected, dislodging enemy ships from choke points via surgical torpedo volleys before disappearing again. Submarines will have the best stealth capabilities in the game, as they will be able to dive below the ocean surface and evade visual detection as long as their supply of oxygen allows it.

This brand-new ability will let players launch surprise attacks on the enemy team and become invulnerable to most types of damage. However, submarines will be relatively slow and have the least amount of hit points requiring prospective commanders to be thoughtful in their use of their submarine’s unique mechanics, as well as good positioning and situational awareness to turn the tides of battle.

When submerged, submarines will lose vision of enemies in the battle. They will need to plot their course and detect other ships with the help of another new mechanic, the hydrophone. This feature will allow them to determine the direction to the nearest enemy ships and visualise their surroundings when diving, actively helping them with their spatial awareness.

Players will also gain the ability to adjust their aim after firing and to alter their torpedoes’ course by pinging certain parts of an enemy ship using their sonar. This new feature will however be a double-edged blade, as it will show the submarine’s position on the minimap for a short period of time.

The introduction of submarines will also bring new weapons and mechanics specifically designed to counter them. Destroyers will be particularly efficient at hunting down submarines and special zones will appear on the surface once they get close to their prey. Once they’ve acquired a target, destroyers will be able to use brand-new weapons designed to sink submarines hiding at high depth: the anti-submarine mortars and depth charges, which will be activated automatically when they sail above their opponents.

Mist Survival Preview

Mist Survival puts players in the aftermath of a global catastrophe. A strange mist began appearing, turning normal people into ravenous monsters. Now you must venture out and live off the land for as long as possible. While the game is still in Early Access on Steam, if you were to tell me that a team of five people were developing Mist Survival, I would be surprised. However, finding out that there is only ONE person developing it has left me absolutely shocked. The level of polish and number of features in this game for a one-person development team is staggering.

As the game starts, you begin next to a lean-to shelter and given some basic supplies. After that, it is up to you as to where to go and what to do. While exploring the surrounding areas of Mist Survival, I discovered a host of weapons, consumables, and more. Mist Survival features a crafting system to build stuff from scavenged items. The game’s crafting system is detailed and, perhaps, a bit overwhelming at first – especially at the beginning of your survival journey, when you don’t have many inventory slots. At this point, you may be panicked about what to hold onto and what to leave behind. The secret is to find a nice place to call home for a while and unload your stuff there – preferably into a container of some kind. Only hold onto your weapons, some rations and water, then anything you need to build whatever it is you’re trying to build at the moment. As in most survival games, crafting bigger and more complex items takes time, and you’ll be scavenging for quite a while before making different kinds of crafting stations.

The threat of zombie attack is ever-present – although, they mostly come at night (and in the random bouts of mist that occur). Sure, there are some around in the daytime but they are usually relegated to structures. I recommend making a spear as soon as you can – it is so much better than trying to punch them. While the zombies tend to be the most prevalent threats in the game, there are also bandits to contend with. During the course of raiding these bandit bases, you can also rescue NPC’s that can perform tasks for you! I keep listing off features thinking how impressive it is that one person made all of it and is doing so better than many large-production survival games – but, I digress.

The biggest issues facing Mist Survival are new bugs that seem to be popping up with every patch the developer is putting out. Although, I must give huge kudos to the developer of the game as they are putting out a pretty steady stream of updates and, with this kind of motivation, I have no doubt that the developer will address as many bugs as they can.

Currently, Mist Survival is selling for a very reasonable $10.99 on Steam in Early Access.
