LEGO Dimensions Unveils Year 2 Content and E3 Trailer

Burbank, Calif. – June 9, 2016 –– Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO® Group today announced the expansion of LEGO® DIMENSIONS, the LEGO toy and videogame hybrid, with more blockbuster franchises and even bigger gameplay possibilities. New expansion packs broaden the complete selection to 30 of the world’s most popular entertainment brands allowing players to customize their experience by mixing and matching favorite characters and universes with full compatibility. Game features adding to the fun are all-new, four-player competitive Battle Arenas, a first for LEGO videogames, as well as Story Packs, which provide deep, story-driven gameplay around the biggest theatrical releases and include a fresh LEGO brick building experience.

LEGO Dimensions packs based on 16 new entertainment properties will begin launching on September 27, 2016 with the Ghostbusters Story Pack, Adventure Time and Mission: Impossible Level Packs, Harry Potter and Adventure Time Team Packs, and The A-Team Fun Pack. Additional expansion packs based on other highly anticipated films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The LEGO® Batman Movie and wildly popular properties The Goonies, Sonic The Hedgehog, Teen Titans Go!, LEGO® City Undercover, Knight Rider, The Powerpuff Girls, Gremlins, Beetlejuice and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be released in product waves stretching into summer of next year. All expansion packs provide players with continued compatibility to use everything from waves 1-9 interchangeably, anywhere throughout the game. And no new starter pack is required, as all new packs will simply enhance the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack game and work with the existing LEGO Toy Pad.

“We’ve built upon the existing LEGO DIMENSIONS Starter Pack to expand the gameplay possibilities with entirely new LEGO experiences that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “We can now provide players with even more customization and mash-up opportunities, and all are compatible with the existing game and packs. Battle Arenas also introduce a fun new way for friends and family to join the action together and battle as favorite characters, which is an exciting innovation for LEGO videogames.”

“LEGO DIMENSIONS is a significant part of our LEGO videogames portfolio, and we are excited to offer fans many more iconic entertainment franchises combined with new, enhanced ways to play,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “TT Games continues to innovate and expand the game experience, which gives players breakthrough digital and physical gameplay with an amazing amount of world-class entertainment properties connected together.”

“We are excited to continue our partnership with TT Games and WBIE and bring even more characters to life through LEGO DIMENSIONS,” said Niels Jørgensen, Vice President, Digital Games for the LEGO Group. “The videogame has allowed our fans to extend their LEGO play experience in a whole new way and the new expansion packs will create even more play possibilities through exciting properties.”

All-new Battle Arenas will offer first-to-LEGO videogames competitive split-screen local gameplay for up to four players. LEGO minifigures included in the wave 6 through 9 expansion packs will come with special, golden Toy Tags which unlock a Battle Arena within the Free Play Adventure World of the corresponding entertainment brand. Each Battle Arena has four different gameplay modes and comes with its own traps, special powers and interactive environments that make every battle arena unique.

The Ghostbusters Story Pack, based on the upcoming film, will provide a complete movie-based gameplay experience with six puzzle-packed levels and new LEGO Gateway bricks that allow players to build Zhu’s Chinese Restaurant atop the LEGO Toy Pad. It will also come with a buildable Abby Yates LEGO minifigure with Proton Blaster and 3-in-1 buildable Ecto-1 which can be rebuilt into the Ectozer and The PerfEcto. The pack unlocks “Rip,” a new Toy Pad mode allowing players to tear open an alternate universe. In this mirror world, players have the ability to solve puzzles and affect objects and other items in the primary universe. And like all gold-tag minifigures purchased, Abby Yates provides access to a new themed Adventure World with its own unique Battle Arena. The Ghostbusters Story Pack is just the first of this new exciting pack type, with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the highly anticipated theatrical release, still to come later this year. The LEGO DIMENSIONS packs will be the exclusive construction toy offering this holiday for the exciting expansion of J.K Rowling’s Wizarding World.

Story Packs also expand the Starter Pack story with deeper gameplay. In the game’s storyline, the evil Lord Vortech has hidden portions of his powers around the LEGO Multiverse. As players progress through Story Pack levels, they can unearth and tap into Keystone Runes to use Lord Vortech’s powers against him through all-new Toy Pad modes.

Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, LEGO DIMENSIONS is now available for PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the Wii U™ system.

Tropico 5 Penultimate Edition Review

IMG_83162

El generalissimo and I stare at each other across, neither of us flinching.  Slowly I reach forward and, ever so gently, flick his nose causing his head to bob.  Now that I have once again controlled him at my desk, previously on the PC then as a bobblehead, I now prepare to do battle as him on a new front… the console!  One of my latest reviews is Tropico 5 Penultimate Edition and even though I have faced him before this is the first time in the Penultimate Edition.

Features:

  • Penultimate Edition contains the full version of Tropico 5 and 5 DLC packs – The Big Cheese, Bayo del Ofato & Hostile Takeover (Generalissimo, Mad World, Joint Venture) as well as 5 exclusive bonus maps.
  • The Eras – Start your reign during colonial times, survive the World Wars and the Great Depression, be a dictator during the Cold War, and advance your country to modern times and beyond.
  • The Dynasty – Each member of the extended family of El Presidente is present on the island and may be used as ruler, appointed manager, ambassador or general.
  • Research and Renovate – Advance your nation by discovering new buildings, technologies and resources.
  • Advanced trade system and trade fleet – Amass a global trade fleet and use your ships to secure trade routes to neighboring islands or world’s superpowers, both for export and import.
  • Explore your island – Discover what lies beyond the fog of war. Send prospectors to look for new deposits, but be wary of hostile animals and native tribes.
  • All new art – All artwork is re-made from scratch to provide Tropico 5 with a unique visual identity.
  • Cooperative and competitive multiplayer – Up to 4 players can build up their own cities and economies on any given island map. Players can choose to share resources, supply and population or declare war on each other.

First Volley:

If, like me, your visits with El Presidente were mostly limited to the main package then trust me are you in store one heck of a lot of extra material.  It has been a while since I played AND that was on a PC which has a heck of a lot more buttons and a different feel entirely.  So the first questioned I encountered was how hard would it be to control?

Luckily they did a pretty good job transferring the title between platforms following the footsteps of other sims that got moved to the console so that for the most part the controls were intuitive to anyone who has played console sims. There is a tutorial which is pretty long but I recommend playing all the way through to really get the controls down and a help section for anything that doesn’t explicitly cover.  The tutorials might seem way too easy at times but still play them and use their time to practice other aspects since they are designed with getting you prepared for long sessions at the game.  Luckily playing on the console you can take your controller anywhere and sit, lay, do handstands, any way you want as long as you can see the television.

Glancing up at the features you can see that you have a couple of centuries to play through as well as extra maps. The original maps and quests are fun but the new additions are really where the fun can be found.  You can tell that the development team that worked on them weren’t in it for the money but were in love with the title and wondering what they could do next.  So you travel through the Great Depression into the possible futures you may choose to create for yourself.  Personally I am just really wanted to get blimps going myself, always was fascinated with the aerial trees of development.  When it came down to it though I found I really liked the World Wars which reminded me of a couple other war sims but with all the details we have comes to expect.  When it comes right down to it this a b

With multiplayer element it is pretty much like any multiplayer you would expect where up to four players build as quick as they can then whack each other.  Now is a good time to play multiplayer too with a renewed player base!

Last Shot:

Playing Tropico 5 Penultimate Edition was like revisiting an old girlfriend, or in this case one who had grown up and made a lot of new additions to her life.  It is a good time with all the extras you could want for the game then probably a few more, with multiplayer running hot right now.  Time to get out and make your legacy again El Presidente!

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Space Marines Fleet Screenshots

June 9, 2016 – Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, the RTS videogame adaptation of Games Workshop’s classic tabletop game by Tindalos Interactive, showcases the upcoming Space Marine fleet with new images! The Space Marine fleet will be available on June 21, and will be playable in the multiplayer modes of Battlefleet Gothic.

As announced for several months, the Space Marines faction – as well as the Tau faction, currently under development – is free to all Early Adopters of the game on Steam. The Early Adopter offer applies to all Steam pre-purchase owners and people who buy the game during the first two months of the game’s release – untilJune 21. Players now only have 12 days left to purchase their Early Adopters Edition of the game and receive for free the Space Marines and the Tau factions. Players who will purchase Battlefleet Gothic: Armada after June 21 will be able to purchase the Space Marines and The Tau as DLCs.

The Space Marines are the greatest of humanity’s warriors, fierce warriors that have been subjected to intense training, genetic modification, and psycho-conditioning. Their fleets are experts at close-ranged battles, sporting well-armoured ships and specialize in aggressive boarding techniques. In addition, they have access to two unique faction traits which make them immune to insubordination mechanics and give them the ability to prioritize their attacks on different subsystems when boarding.

The Space Marines DLC includes 5 different Space Marine chapters including the Ultramarines, the Imperial Fists and the Blood Angels. Today’s images show off the Dark Angels and the Space Wolves.

The secretive Dark Angels hold traditions and rituals that date back to the earliest days of the Imperium – they were the first Legion, and one of the most powerful. Every single Dark Angel wishes atonement for a great sin their brothers committed long ago on their homeworld, Caliban. These monastic Space Marines have only a single goal: To eliminate the Fallen Angels, the Dark Angels that have given in to the temptations of Chaos during the Horus Heresy.

Space Wolves are savage. They accept who they are, fierce warriors from the land of Fenris, proud of their anti-authoritarian ways. A mutation in their gene-seed makes Space Wolves who bear the “Curse of the Wulfen” transform into wolf-like mutants.

More info about the Ultramarines, the Imperial Fists and the Blood Angels will be communicated in the coming days.

One Troll Army FREE! Review

If you play video games on the PC and haven’t heard of One Troll Army I am surprised, if you spend much time on Twitch I am equally surprised if this is the first word you have about the Midevil monster mash. However if you play games, like fun monster titles AND pay attention to the Twitch community I might approach you with kindness and ask how long ago your amnesiac fever had broken. One Troll Army is a fun game that might have been missed if not for the fact the developers set a price tag of about $10 and then laid a challenge at the Twitch community’s feet: One Troll Army would be live for 8 hours straight, if the Twitch community beat the game it would not only be fun kudos but the game would cost $0 on Steam. The loyal (fanatical) Twitch community got it done in 6 hours so while you are reading this go ahead over and start downloading the game for free, it doesn’t take up much space or dl time and if you don’t like it after giving it a play Uninstall.

Trolling Around:
It is very seldom that my first comment in the hands-on portion of a review is a concern/gripe but in this case I feel warning is not just fair but really necessary. This game has such counter-natural, clumsy controls that at first you might think they are intentional. It reminded me a little of surgeon simulator where you try to perform open cavity surgery with a hand that moves like it has been shot up full of Novocain. Looking into it as far as I can tell the difficulty in the controls isn’t on purpose and after a decent amount of practice you almost forget the difficulty until you took a break and came back again and your Troll and goblins go scattering more like a monkey.

This kind of brings up the only other minor issue, a WoW player in the family walked in the room while I was playing and asked “what is the orc game you are playing?” and when I said it was a troll she laughed and said nope! People have long had a different interpretation of what a troll looks like compared to what an orc looks like. There is no definitive answer and just because WoW has made one particular look strike like an orc doesn’t mean the image is set in stone, as a matter of fact I support an anti-piracy program that has it’s version of a troll that looks just like the game’s one.

Now that those have been addressed no matter what kind of creature you think it looks like it looks really nice. The graphics can be simplified and the output can be changed down to a square if your monitor still needs an upgrade but that being said if you have a nice state-of-the-art graphics cards and monitor you can crank the game up to unexpectedly nice graphics quality. Whether you are zoomed out so you can see your castle and the enemies’ approaches or you are zoomed in to see the detail of the enemy and how there are so many different types with different abilities which are recognizable onsite when you move in tight. Also when you assign a goblin to a task in most games they start performing the task but otherwise there is no noticeable difference in the NPC, in this game if they are sent to build something they don yellow hardhats, looters carry bags on their backs to the fortress and the shaman that heals you between waves has an ornate headpiece and a healing dance he performs. Upgrades on the buildings also have detailed and nice changes, you feel a lot of satisfaction when the first tower goes up and the nicer the walls the more opportunity you feel you have to try out more advanced and experimental tactics. You can also pick which kind of tower is at which location such as cannons or arrows to best defend that section of wall.

ss_449ae214599d1c0ae81807dff40a6098a3e1a1b5.1920x1080

The enemies seem to mostly have certain locations they attack from but I believe that is mostly due to land obstacles such as a big lake. So paying attention to where they attack and how they group up might be a deciding factor on whether you survive the wave or not. They attack in waves which give you time to recover your three main supplies that have to get you through the battle: your health, you castle’s health and your special powers’ energy bar. They are all pretty self-explanatory, losing all of your health or the castle’s and you surrender causing you to lost the round and take some penalties. If you have a choice between losing the round with your troll’s health or the castle’s lose it with the troll. Not much more to it, as you progress you unlock special powers and additional buildings and upgrades to both but when it comes down to it it’s all about you and your troll and smashing time.

Last Smash:
There are a couple of things that will make One Troll Army a bit rough to get used to at the beginning, namely the controls but if you still with it you will find yourself flying through the levels and really having fun with it. If you don’t the game was FREE so just Uninstall if you never get used to the controls. The game would be a good deal at it’s original starting price of $10 but for free it is really hard to rate, especially when it is a true Free-To-Play game. I guess if it isn’t five coins to a player they can go ahead and Uninstall it with nothing lost.

Turtle Beach Unveils Hypersound Glass Speakers

San Diego, CA – June 8, 2016 Turtle Beach Corporation (NASDAQ: HEAR), a leading audio technology company for over 40 years, has achieved another significant breakthrough with its HyperSound® technology, as the company revealed today it is now able to create directional audio using a transparent pane of glass. The Company’s latest innovation opens the doors for exploration into future glass-based directional audio products and applications in the consumer, commercial and hearing healthcare spaces. Turtle Beach will be showing an early prototype of HyperSound Glass directional speakers at the 2016 Electronics Entertainment Expo, which takes place June 14-16, 2016 at the L.A. Convention Center.

“The advancements the HyperSound team is making with directional audio are simply amazing – some of the biggest breakthroughs in audio technology to come along in decades,” said Juergen Stark, CEO, Turtle Beach Corporation. “Being able to create highly directional audio using glass opens up many potential opportunities, including integrating into desktop monitors, commercial displays, desktop speakers, and automotive dashboard glass to provide warnings directed specifically at the driver…pretty much anywhere there’s glass there’s a potential for audio. As we progress the technology, this also opens up licensing possibilities to external parties looking for ways to integrate the latest audio technology into their products. Again, it’s still early in development and the applications are simply ideas on the drawing board, but at the same time having HyperSound directional audio working on glass is very exciting and we can’t wait to show it publicly for the first time at E3.”

HyperSoundtechnology is a fundamentally new approach to sound delivery that generates a highly directional, narrow beam of audio in the air. Similar to how a flashlight directs a beam of light, HyperSounddirects a beam of audio to targeted listeners in a specific spot, delivering an immersive, 3D-like audio experience.HyperSound Glass is similar in design to touchscreen glass, where there are multiple layers of transparent materials and electronics working in conjunction with the glass. For HyperSound Glass, the glass pane is layered with a set of transparent films allowing it to generate a beam of ultrasound that delivers crisp, clear audio to the targeted listener.
