Destination America Unveils Paranormal San Diego Comic-Con Panels

(Silver Spring, Md.) – Destination America today announced that it has begun production on an all-new series hosted by world-renowned ghost hunters Adam Berry and Amy Bruni. KINDRED SPIRITS (working title) will premiere in 2016 exclusively on Destination America following the fearless duo as they help real families tormented by paranormal activity at home, with the added stress that the spirits may be their own late family members. Scared by the mysterious happenings but hesitant to pick up and leave their homes, these families have turned to two of America’s leading paranormal investigators to capture evidence, try to guide the wayward spirits into the light, and bring closure to each home.

Destination America will unveil more about KINDRED SPIRITS (wt) exclusively at Comic-Con International on Friday, July 22 from 7-8pm in Room 7AB in a Supernatural Super Panel that will unite ghost hunting’s elite investigators for one night only. Join PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN’s Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman – who are also currently in production on the show’s second season – Adam Berry and Amy Bruni from KINDRED SPIRITS (wt), and the “Godfather of the Paranormal” John Zaffis from HAUNTED COLLECTOR, which airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on Destination America.

KINDRED SPIRITS takes paranormal investigation back to its roots with a simple mission of making contact with the other side but, first and foremost, helping people who are terrified and don’t know where else to turn,” said Jane Latman, general manager of Destination America. “Over the years, Amy and Adam have built a kinship with each other and their fans that make them the best paranormal team to bring closure to these families and the perfect addition to our family here at Destination America.”

Berry and Bruni got their start on SyFy’s groundbreaking series Ghost Hunters, which defined a new genre in supernatural storytelling on television. The pair recently guest-starred on an episode of PARANORMAL LOCKDOWN on Destination America, joining hosts Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman on an 72-hour investigation of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.

Throughout their combined career, Nick Groff, Katrina Weidman, Adam Berry, Amy Bruni, and John Zaffis have more than 10,000 investigations under their belt, from famous haunts like The Exorcist house, the Stanley Hotel and the house on which A Haunting in Connecticut was based, to secret hotspots that only the bravest dare speak of. They rose to fame in some of TV’s hottest paranormal programs including Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State, and Haunted Collector, but now call Destination America home and, for the first time together on stage, will regale the Comic-Con audience with tales of their darkest, creepiest, and most life-altering paranormal experiences. Also, they will discuss how the work of Ed and Lorraine Warren – Zaffis’ uncle and aunt – and the original paranormal Holy Grail of The Conjuring led them to where they are today. Additionally, they will make themselves available for all-access questions from fans, unveil never-before-seen footage, and reveal exclusive news to the Comic-Con audience about what Destination America has in store for a history-making Halloween.

About Amy Bruni and Adam Berry

Amy Bruni has been chasing the unknown for over 20 years. Raised in a haunted house with her free-thinking family, she was never taught to fear ghosts but only to seek out and try to understand them. After spending a decade in the health insurance industry, Bruni decided to follow her dreams and turn paranormal investigation into her livelihood. She began traveling the country to visit its most haunted places, researching the group dynamics of ghost-hunting teams, and lecturing on the history of paranormal investigation. Beginning in 2008, Bruni was a staple on Syfy’s Ghost Hunters and served as the team’s historical researcher for seven seasons, during which time she met her ghost-hunting partner Adam Berry. In 2014, she left the show to stay home with her family and start her own business, a boutique paranormal travel company called Strange Escapes. She also writes for her blog, My Spirited Life. The birth of her daughter and the importance of family have brought new value to Bruni’s investigations, putting more focus on helping families try to reach the spirits of their loved ones.

Adam Berry has spent the past 10 years investigating, researching and exploring some of the most haunted locations in the world. While growing up in Muscle Shoals, Ala., he began a lifelong fascination with the supernatural after having a ghostly encounter that changed his entire way of thinking about life, death and “the great beyond.” Berry founded his own investigation team out of Provincetown, Mass., in 2007 to document cases and bring answers to those experiencing strange activity in their homes. In 2010, he won Syfy’s reality competition show Ghost Hunters Academy, earning a coveted spot on the network’s hit original series Ghost Hunters, where he met and first teamed up with his investigation partner Amy Bruni. Berry stepped away from TV to focus on family and running his non-profit theatre company Peregrine Theatre Ensemble, but never stopped ghost hunting. He still collaborates with spiritual enthusiasts through lectures, events, and one-on-one investigations so that he can continue to help families deal with the unexplainable.

About Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman

Nick Groff has been fascinated with the paranormal ever since surviving a near-death experience as a child. Now, he chases ghosts full-time with the goal of finding new evidence of the afterlife and discovering a breakthrough in paranormal research. After graduating from the University of Nevada with a B.A. in Film, Groff made his big break when he co-wrote, co-produced, co-directed, co-edited, and co-starred in Ghost Adventures: The Original Documentary, which aired on the SciFi Channel in 2007. The film was a winner at the Los Angeles Film/Video Festival and was nominated for “Best Feature Film” at the Eerie Horror Film Festival. The documentary served as a pilot for the Ghost Adventures television series that debuted in 2008 on Travel Channel. Groff was an Executive Producer, co-host, and investigator on seasons 1-10. Groff is also the author of the book “Chasing Spirits: The Building of the Ghost Adventures Crew.” Now, Groff is the executive producer and host for the hit series Paranormal Lockdown on Destination America and is also featured as an ensemble cast member in the network’s #1 hit series Ghosts of Shepherdstown.

Katrina Weidman is a paranormal researcher and investigator, host, producer, and lecturer. She’s best known for her role on A&E’s hit series Paranormal State, in which she worked on hundreds of cases of unexplained supernatural phenomena and interviewed thousands of witnesses with the world-renowned Paranormal Research Society (PRS) from 2006-2011. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, Weidman has been working professionally as a paranormal researcher and investigator since 2006, but her passion for the supernatural began when she was a child living in historic Bucks County, Penn., where many locations are said to be haunted. Weidman also hosted Chiller’s Real Fear: The Truth Behind the Movies, following Weidman and her team as they travel the country looking for the real-life stories that inspired some of the world’s most iconic horror films. Currently, Weidman can be seen alongside Nick Groff as host of Destination America’s hit series,Paranormal Lockdown.

About John Zaffis

John Zaffis is considered one of the foremost authorities in paranormal investigation today, with more than 40 years of experience studying and investigating the field. His research has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, England and Scotland to face ghosts, poltergeists, and demonic and diabolical entities. Studying under his aunt and uncle, Lorraine and Ed Warren, broadened Zaffis’ expertise beyond ghost hunting to also include demonology and cases of possession and exorcism. He has worked with prominent exorcists Bishop Robert McKenna, Father Malachi Martin, and the Reverend Jun, along with other Roman Catholic priests, monks, Buddhists, rabbis and ministers. He has also worked extensively with spiritualists and psychics to further the depth of his understanding. Over the years, Zaffis has collected hundreds of infested items that are currently housed for safe keeping at the John Zaffis Paranormal Museum. He wrote and starred in the 2010 documentary Museum of the Paranormal, which gives the viewer a tour of his museum and the stories behind some of the objects. Zaffis was the host of the SyFy television seriesHaunted Collector from 2011-2013 and has been featured on Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures, A&E’s Ghost Hunters, Discovery Channel’s A Haunting in Connecticut and Little Lost Souls as well as Unsolved Mysteries. He is also mentioned in “Graveyards” and “In A Dark Place,” both books written by Ed and Lorraine Warren. His first book, “Shadows of the Dark,” co-written with Brian McIntyre, was released in 2004.

KINDRED SPIRITS (wt) is produced for Destination America by Paper Route Productions with Alan LaGarde and Sumit David as executive producers. Amy Bruni and Adam Berry are also executive producers. For Destination America, Fay Yu is executive producer, Jane Latman is general manager, and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination America, and American Heroes Channel.

Corsair Lapdog Review

We got the chance to take a look at the Corsair Lapdog – a keyboard and mouse tray solution for those of you with home media PCs, and were very impressed with its solid build quality and peripheral integration. The Lapdog’s body has a solid feel that definitely won’t break on you anytime soon and a black aluminum surface that exudes style.

The first compartment location on the Lapdog is where the keyboard is meant to fit. The Lapdog is configured for the dimensions of either the Corsair K65 RGB or K70 keyboards. Once fitted, the keyboard is fairly integrated into the Lapdog and I had no issues reaching the keys while using the Lapdog.

The mousing area is ample enough for most of your gaming needs. I was able to play FPS titles, RPGs, RTS games, and more on its surface and the dimensions are big enough that you won’t have to repetitively lift the mouse and move it back to center.

empty-lapdog

Additionally, the Corsair Lapdog is great at managing your keyboard and mouse cables thanks to a hidden compartment inside the body of the unit. Finally, the Lapdog also features a nifty USB 3.0 powered hub for all your high-powered peripheral needs or even charging your other mobile devices.

However, the Lapdog has some areas that can definitely be improved upon. First, it gets uncomfortable to use for longer periods of time thanks to the fact that it has no cushioned wrist rest. The solid aluminum surface rubs the skin raw after a while. For short term gaming and computer use, it should be too big of an issue. Also, when on your lap, the Lapdog’s keyboard area is slightly moved to the left side. While this isn’t too bad for WASD gaming, it can be somewhat awkward to do regular typing on.

Thankfully, the underside of the Lapdog features some nice memory foam material that is very comfortable to use with a smart, lap-shaped contour.

At $119 dollars, the Corsair Lapdog definitely has some benefit for those casual gamers looking to play short term gaming sessions from their couches. However, if you do need to plan on playing long, multi-hour sessions of keyboard and mouse gaming, I would look into some other solutions with better comfort.

Corsair K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

The Corsair K70 mechanical gaming keyboard is an utter workhorse. Ruggedly-built and featuring crisp mechanical keys, the K70 is more than capable of handling any intense gaming sessions you can throw at it. Sporting a black brushed aluminum body, the K70 is of high strength and low weight in comparison to other mechanical keyboards on the market.

The Corsair K70’s mechanical keys feature crisp and responsive Cherry MX key switches and, while they are a bit too quiet for my tastes (I prefer audible clicks), they are extremely responsive. This all plays into the 104 key rollover and anti-ghosting tech built into the K70. You can jam down a huge number of keys and not get any degradation in input going to the computer.

Installing the K70 is very easy. You simply plug it into a USB 2.0 port and start typing away. The K70 is a macro-less keyboard, so no software needs to be installed in order to use it. Some  may feel the lack of macros to be a drawback but I never use them much in practice.

The lighting scheme on the Corsair K70 is simple. It is just red backlighting with multiple brightness levels. There is an updated model of K70 out, the K70 RGB, which has full RGB lighting instead. I didn’t mind this lack of color variety as the backlighting is bright enough to let me use it in dark rooms and is not distracting.

I was fortunate to try out the K70 in several of my favorite current titles: Fallout 4, DOOM, Master of Orion. The keyboard just works. It may not be super fancy, but it works. I never had to worry about it failing and the K70 never came up short. It even sports a pass through USB port so you can plug your gaming mouse into it. I LOVE this feature. It may seem like a no-brainer, but it makes organizing your desktop and cables a lot easier.

Overall, the Corsair K70 mechanical gaming keyboard is an excellent gaming keyboard for those of you needing sheer performance without all the bells and whistles of super-expensive models. It may not have full RGB lighting or macros but it effortlessly does the two most important jobs a gaming keyboard can do: Being responsive and comfortable.

The Corsair K70 mechanical gaming keyboard retails for $129.99

Blood Bowl 2 Gets The Undead Team

Blood Bowl 2 is the sequel to the video game adaptation of Games Workshop‘s famous board game that combines American football with the fantasy world of Warhammer. The new screenshots unveiled today showcase the upcoming Undead team and their deadly Players. They will be available, along with their own Starplayers, in the Undead DLC available late July for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC/Mac.

We remind you that PC/Mac Steam players of Blood Bowl 2 can still benefit from the FOUNDERS INCENTIVE: Players will receive the Undead, as well as the Necromantic and the Nurgle teams for free, as long as they purchased the game before the races release. Also, Blood Bowl 2 is currently 60% off on Steam until July 4th. This is a perfect opportunity to get the game at an attractive price, and receive the coming races for free as soon as they are available.

Last but not least, all the PC/Mac owners of Blood Bowl 2 will have access to a Beta next week featuring the upcoming Undead team and several updates and improvements. For more information, make sure to follow Blood Bowl on Facebook and Twitter.

The Undead Team

Death comes often for Blood Bowl players, and the souls of the most passionate sometimes rise up again to relive the scenes of their former glory. The Undead team, raised by the Liche-lords of the Old World, have the unique skill “Regenerate” which makes them incredibly difficult to kill. They have incredibly agile players, the Ghouls and the Wights, but they are often too fast for their shambling, but fearsome, Mummy teammates to keep up.

Finally, two Star Players are joining the Undead: Ramtut III is a mighty and powerful mummy who has spent countless years on the pitch. Morg n’ Thorg, someone who has faced Ramtut on the pitch and lived, happens to be his sworn nemesis. Count Luthor Von Drakenborg the vampire carries impressive stats and the Hypnotic Gaze ability, and is one of our most fearsome Star Players yet!

Soon to come, the Necromantic and the Nurgle! Stay tuned, sports fans!

Nordic Games Unveils ELEX, Sci-Fi Fantasy RPG

Vienna (Austria) – July 1st, 2016: Nordic Games and Piranha Bytes, creators of the Gothic series, are moving into a totally different realm with ELEX. The game is set against the backdrop of a brand new post-apocalyptic science fantasy universe that immerses players in a vast, seamless game world full of interesting characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and of course, some thrilling action.

The Story

Magalan, the completely open game world of ELEX, was home to a highly developed civilisation until a catastrophic meteor strike devastated the planet, reducing it to a post-apocalyptic world. The meteor also deposited a substance that is now found in nearly everything: Elex, and each faction uses it in a different way. Every inhabitant of the world is constantly looking for Elex, whether as a substance with magical powers, to use in a weapon or as a pure stimulant.

A Game of Contrasts

ELEX is all about contrasts: science vs fantasy, magic vs laser weapons and logic vs emotions. In ELEX, Piranha Bytes combines all the game elements that RPG fans love and has placed them in an entirely new environment: a science-fantasy setting. These contrasts are also evident in the various factions.

elex-game-1

Use of Elex

While one faction, the Albs, consider the ingestion of Elex as part of their cult, the Clerics group ban the consumption of Elex on religious grounds, and use it to build their high-tech weapons. The Berserkers however, a people who live in harmony with nature, process Elex into mana and use it to craft magical weapons. As for the Bandits, their society has no fixed rules, but they live by the credo: “Take anything you can grab, or someone else will.”

The “Piranha Bytes” Philosophy

“We’ve been thinking about the setting for ELEX for almost 10 years, and we finally have the chance to implement our ideas. The mix of sci-fi and fantasy offers an incredible number of opportunities and cool contrasts that we can play around with. The fans of Gothic or Risen will recognise our unique game philosophy and ELEX builds on that solid basis. ELEX will be the most dynamic and realistic RPG sim ever!” Björn Pankratz, Piranha Bytes

ELEX is being developed for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 simultaneously and the game release is scheduled for Q1 2017.

Features of the Game

  • Sci-Fi Meets Fantasy: A post-apocalyptic universe that seamlessly blends science-fiction and fantasy elements.
  • Reason vs. Emotion: The player himself decides which way to go; there’s no right or wrong.
  • 100% Authentic: The game AI takes decisions that make the game action and events perfectly logical.
  • Epic Combat System: The complex combat system and total control over the characters enable you to “read” your enemies.
  • Jetpack Frenzy: Jetpack makes vertical exploration so much easier and offers a whole new dimension of fresh opportunities.
  • RPG True to its Name: The player’s decisions influence the course of the entire game.

French Tanks Arrive in World of Tanks Console Edition

June 30, 2016 — Wargaming today announced the massive content update for the free-to-play console game World of Tanks is now available to download globally on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and Xbox 360. Update 3.1 aligns all content between the three consoles with the addition of France to PlayStation®4, and a new French tank line to all console platforms. The update also includes two new weather variant maps, Steppes Sandstorm and Erlenberg Blizzard, and announces an all-new chained-op series to earn the Tier VII AMX CDC, which kicks off July 15.

The complete French tank line has joined the ranks of PlayStation®4 featuring 44 of the most specialized and highly-mobile vehicles the French nation is known for, offering players a brand new nation with unique characteristics to unleash on the battlefield. Both platforms have also been enhanced with one more French branch featuring the FCM 36, Renault R35, Somua S35, SARL 42, Renault G1, AMX 30 1er Prototype and the AMX 30 B.

Tankers can take their new Tier 9 and 10 French vehicles for a spin on two new console-exclusive weather variant maps: Steppes Sandstorm and Erlenberg Blizzard, both highlighting treacherous driving conditions while adding a challenging and exciting layer of gameplay. Steppes Sandstorm, a generally open map, has been blasted with a dangerous sandstorm, creating an eerily desolate terrain with extreme low-visibility. Erlenberg Blizzard is snowy wasteland, with ruins separated by a massive river, which would cutoff access to the other team, only now the river is frozen, offering free-reign on the territory and new angles of attack.

Scorn Announced with Teaser

June 30, 2016 – The bowels of a living nightmare – June 30, 2016 – Straight out of the twisted minds at Serbian game developer Ebb Software, SCORN is a disturbing creep through an oozing world of organic otherworldly horror. Heading to PC in 2017, SCORN can be supported starting today on Steam Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=709630328

The first person gameplay in SCORN is a glistening combination of gunplay and puzzle solving, with the environment and the creatures it disgorges doing their utmost to confound your progress. That’s not to say every inhabitant you meet wants to eviscerate you – most of them don’t care about you one way or the other.

All of the storytelling happens in-game, with no cut-scenes to distract you from the grisly reality of the living, breathing (throbbing, dripping) world you’re in. But keep your eyes open – the game won’t show you any sympathy if you miss something important on your uneasy travels. Everything has a reason and purpose – you just need to work out what it is.

“We are trying to create something so unsettling it will make you think about the ideas and themes of the game long after you’ve finished playing,” said Ebb Software’s Ljubomir Peklar.

The environments in SCORN are entirely handcrafted, firmly bucking the procedural trend, while its storytelling through gameplay, non-linear narrative, and puzzles on a grand scale turn SCORNinto an impressionistic horror show of impressive scope and imagination.

Get more creeped out about SCORN here: http://www.scorn-game.com/

To help the team at Ebb Software manage the massive scope of development on SCORN and get the game in the hands of players quickly, they are planning to release it in two parts, with the first part entitled “DASEIN” coming in 2017.
