The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot Open Houses Announced

MTV San Diego Comic-Con Events Revealed

New York, NY (June 24, 2013) – MTV will be geeking out from Comic-Con International in San Diego all weekend long, beginning on Thursday, July 18 with the highly-anticipated return of a “Teen Wolf” panel featuring all five series regulars and new cast members who play the twin Alpha werewolves, Max and Charlie Carver. Additionally, the network, along with MTV2, MTV News and MTV Geek will be on the ground at Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres, for the first-ever “MTV2 Party in the Park.”

Open to all Comic-Con badge holders, the July 18 event celebrating the die-hard fans in attendance at Comic-Con will feature live music performances, free food and drinks and the taping of “Guy Code Honors,” a one-hour special starring the casts of “Teen Wolf” and MTV2’s “Guy Code” that premieres Sunday, July 21 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV and MTV2.

MTV Comics Premieres Graphic Novel “The Gloom”: The first graphic novel from MTV Comics premieres at Comic-Con! From acclaimed writer Tony Lee (Doctor Who, Starship Troopers), and artist Dan Boultwood via Arcana Studios, comes the adventures of “The Gloom!” In 1940s Manhattan the vigilante The Gloom is America’s last line of defense against the Nazis, classic pulp heroism, and common sense! Nordic Games Picks Up Silver and Desperados

Vienna, Austria (June 24th 2013) – Nordic Games announced today that it has signed and closed an asset purchase agreement with Atari SAS recently regarding two of Atari’s intellectual properties, Desperados and Silver.

The acquisition itself is handled by Nordic Games Licensing AB, based in Karlstad, Sweden, whereas the day-to-day business (sales and distribution of said titles, evaluation of sequels & new content etc.) will be conducted by Nordic Games GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria.

About Desperados
Desperados are stealth-based real-time tactics computer games, developed by Spellbound and released in 2001 and 2006, respectively. In these games (Desperados – Wanted Dead or Alive; Desperados 2 – Cooper´s Revenge), the player controls various characters in a Wild West setting. Square Enix has released a detailed cast list as well as plot synopsis from their upcoming Final Fantasy XV:

• Noctis Lucis Caelum: A childhood affliction endowed Noctis, heir apparent to the throne of Lucis, with the mystical power to see a heavenly light, through which he could sense others’ deaths. Noctis rejects rigid royal conventions and acts as somewhat of a renegade, much to the dismay of those who tend to him. Yet while “Noct” may act brash at times, he does so in defense of those loyal to him.

• Gladiolus Amicitia: As lord of the noble House Amicitia, Gladiolus continues a line sworn to protect the crown. “Gladio” shares a friendship with Noctis that transcends birth and title, and his loyalty to his liege is born not of duty, but of brotherhood.

• Ignis Scientia: Ever the unwavering voice of reason, Ignis was weaned on shrewd logic and a classical education from boyhood so that he might one day counsel the would-be king, Noctis. He applies the deep mutual understanding and trust they have built over time to help smooth over Noctis’s brusqueness with others.

• Prompto Argentum: The puckish playboy Prompto befriended Noctis in his school days. He wears a chip on his shoulder as an outsider to the royal circle, but remains eager to do all he can for the cause.

• Cor Leonis: A living legend of Lucian lore, Lord Commander Cor Leonis’s devotion to the art of war is surpassed only by that to his king. Little love is lost between the ill-starred stalwart and Noctis’s retinue, yet honor binds him to keep watch over the group all the same.

The only crystal left to the world lies in the Kingdom of Lucis. Upon striking a peace with the garrison state of Niflheim, Lucis rejoices in having at last brought the cold war to a close. Their celebrations, however, are premature. Under the guise of amity, Niflheim dispels the anti-armament runewall and launches a full-scale invasion of the kingdom. The peaceful lives Crown Prince Noctis and his entourage once knew are consumed by the flames of war as they struggle to mount a resistance.

WWE 2K14 Cover Artwork Contest

ROCCAT’s Kone XTD gaming mouse is one very apt peripheral with an 8200 dpi laser sensor, EasyShift[+] functionality, and attractive lighting scheme. Retailing for about $90 dollars, ROCCAT’s new Kone mouse is here to play and make a statement.

Weighing in at 123 grams (stock), ROCCAT has included several additional weight units so that you can customize just how heavy the mouse is to use. Personally, I like a heavier mouse that doesn’t move quite so easily when accidentally touched, but the choice is yours. Its braided cable helps alleviate tangling issues that rubberized gaming mouse chords are prone to. The biggest issue with the braided system is that it tends to be somewhat rigid and scratches against angled desktops or keyboard trays in use. I had to prop the cable up so that it didn’t cause a lot of drag while using the mouse.

The Kone XTD features a 32-bit Turbo Core V2 processor that allows the mouse to do all on-board calculations no matter what computer you have it plugged into. This processor also computes all of the gaming related functions such as the EasyShift[+] feature. EasyShift[+] allows users to switch out mouse button functions on the fly. By setting what two control options you want to assign to a button in the ROCCAT control suite (which is very stylish, by the way), you can switch between these two functions by way of a special button on the XTD. This effectively doubles the number of controls you have at your disposal without having to add buttons in uncomfortable angles and positions.

Perhaps its most interesting and unusual feature, the Kone XTD features a very cool mouse wheel. Called a “Titan Wheel”, it truly lives up to its name. Unlike those found on most gaming mice, the Titan Wheel takes 3Kgs of force to move in both directions. Even then, the movement is ultra-precise and smooth. It is truly a work of mouse wheel art – a standard which I hope other manufacturers will take note of. So, kudos to ROCCAT on a great mouse wheel.

It should be noted that the Kone XTD has been made for right-handed individuals. You strange, left-handed “muties” need to look elsewhere for your gaming mouse needs! 😉

Overall, gamers looking for a high-end gaming mouse with tons of customization for users, give the ROCCAT Kone XTD a look. Now, if you already have a ROCCAT Kone gaming mouse, you may want to hold off as you won’t get all that much more bang for your proverbial “buck”.

For the sixth straight year, WBTVG gets Comic-Con off to a dramatic start by hosting a special sneak peek, world-premiere screening event on Preview Night, debuting some of the most hotly anticipated new series of the year. For 2013, WBTV will screen the complete pilot episodes of Almost Human, The Tomorrow People and The 100 for the first time ever in public. Additionally, WBTV will unveil a special presentation of The Originals on the big screen, featuring never-before-seen footage that did not air as part of “The Originals” episode of The Vampire Diaries episode in April.

Almost Human: In the near future, technology and crime will increase so quickly that law enforcement will not be able to keep up. To maintain order and keep the public safe, all police officers must partner with highly evolved human-like-androids known as synthetics. From J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Production and Fringe executive producer J.H. Wyman, Almost Human is the story of Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban – Star Trek), and his life-like android partner Dorian (Michael Ealy – Underworld Awakening).

The Originals: From executive producer Julie Plec comes The Originals, a spinoff of The CW’s #1 series among Adults 18–34 and Comic-Con fan-favorite The Vampire Diaries. The only survivors were the inhabitants of 12 international space stations that were in orbit at the time. The stations came together to form the Ark, but with resources dwindling and population growth soaring, the decision is made to send The 100, a group of juvenile delinquents, to the surface to test whether Earth is once again habitable.

Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z Announced for North America

SAN JOSE, Calif., (June 21, 2013) Leading video game publisher and developer NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. today announced Dragon Ball Z® Battle of Z for North America, Latin America, and Brazil on the Xbox 360® games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and a digital version of the title coming for the PlayStation®Vita system. The over-the-top anime action and intensity of the Dragon Ball Z world will be presented in new cell-shaded HD graphics, paying homage to the original anime. Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z will also feature expanded versus and co-op modes, allowing players to create teams of four characters to take on opponents across the globe.

Developed by Tokyo based game developer ARTDINK; Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z will feature a large cast of playable characters including Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, and a variety of melee and famous attacks including the Kamehameha, Special Beam Cannon, and Spirit Bomb. The epic battles in Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z derive their style from the original anime series and will take place in rich environments on both land and in the air. Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z will let players form teams with up to four characters to participate in group melee action, take on massive boss battles, or challenge other players around the world for brawls featuring up to eight characters on screen at the same time.

Man of Steel Superman Coming to Injustice: Gods Among Us

JUNE 21, 2013 — Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that it will be releasing a Man of Steel Superman skin in July. The skin is based on DC Comics’ iconic Superman character as seen in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ feature film “Man of Steel.” Also scheduled for release in July is the General Zod downloadable content (DLC) character, which is based on NetherRealm Studios’ interpretation of the famed DC Comics character.

The Man of Steel Superman skin will be available on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for 80 Microsoft Points and PlayStation®Network at a price of $0.99. The General Zod playable character will be available on Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points and PlayStation®Network at a price of $4.99.

Bates DuraShocks Desert Hot Weather Boot Review (Airsoft)

Frankly, finding a good duty/military/tactical boot for a woman can be quite a chore. When we began our Airsoft column some months ago, our female team member went crazy looking and came up so short, she began using a pair of boots designed for men. Thankfully, I remembered one of the most comfortable and light tactical boots I wore while at an academy was made by Bates. So, I directed her to look there. She came up with the Bates Women’s 8″ DuraShocks® Desert Hot Weather Boot. I sent them a request to check a pair out and we took to the recent Airsoft Nation tournament with them. Here are her thoughts…

Airsoft Nation was a 1,700 person Airsoft game that took place over at Norco, CA’s SC Village field. The terrain varied from forests to swamps to everything in between and the weather was in the low nineties. So, we needed to make sure our footwear provided not only protection, but function as well. From outward appearances, the DuraShocks Desert Hot Weather Boot look pretty traditional for a desert/hot weather boot. The outer material is solid, yet pliable and the sole had a nice traction pattern on them. I found them to be deceptively light and I was even able to move at a double time for a respectable distance without issue.

Most boots do not have very comfortable or supportive insoles. In fact, every tactical boot I have owned has needed to get the stock insoles replaced by more therapeutic brands for proper support and comfort. The insoles in these boots were surprisingly comfortable and provided a decent level of support. If I had to wear these for several weeks straight, I would probably replace them but for an Airsoft game a few times a month, the insoles were more than fine and I give Bates some serious credit for including them in the boot.

The biggest issue I had with the DuraShocks Desert Hot Weather Boot was the lack of a side zipper. In fact, I cannot find any pair of female tactical boots with a side zipper. Side zippers are awesome because they promote a quick turnaround time in putting a pair of boots on (or taking them off), and I missed them here. That being said, they are just a rarity in women’s boots altogether. But, I digress…

Using the boots over the course of the Airsoft Nation tournament, I found them to take on the various types of terrain very well, and they provided me with a very functional amount of traction. Additionally, the 8″ height of the boots made it very easy to tuck my BDU pants into them for protection and the “tacticool” look I desired on the field. Also, it is worth mentioning that even thought it was a very warm day out in Southern California, my feet seemed to keep cooler than I expected. For arid environments, I could see myself using these boots for a long time to come.

Overall, the Bates DuraShocks Desert Hot Weather Boot for women is an excellent pair of hot weather boots that will not only provide protection from the elements but, also, a good deal of comfort. These boots retail for $224.95 and are available at Bates official website.
