New Wargame: AirLand Battle Screens

November 6, 2012 – The development of Wargame: AirLand Battle goes on in the best conditions for French studio Eugen Systems. Today, they mark a short pause to unveil 6 new screenshots of the sequel to Wargame: European Escalation, the real-time strategy game which quickly became one of the new reference in the genre for both critics and players.

With Wargame: AirLand Battle, Eugen Systems is getting ready to give the series a whole new dimension, with the massive arrival of improvement and spectacular new features.

While European Escalation’s powerful engine made a huge impression, Wargame : AirLand Battle marks an important step forward in graphics, which can be seen in today’s screenshots. The new version of the IRISZOOM Engine™ displays from afar and up-close impressive details and, for the first time, realistic relief directly reproduced from satellite images.

With the integration of air forces and a huge fleet of more than 150 crafts of all kinds, and more than 200 new ground-based combat units and vehicles, commanders from all around the world will have one of the most comprehensive libraries of arsenal ever created in a video game. Can the connoisseurs spot the American A-10 Thunderbolt II “Tank-killer”, the French Mirage III-C, or the fearsome Russian fighter Mig-29 “Fulcrum” in today’s screenshots?

Wargame AirLand Battle will be available on PC in Spring 2013.

StarCraft II: Flashpoint Now in Stores

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the new novel, StarCraft II: Flashpoint, is now in stores.

About StarCraft II: Flashpoint

The zerg have lost their queen.

The tyrannical alien-human hybrid that held the Swarm together is gone, and her armies run wild — scattered and diminished. The terrans of the Koprulu sector can now move out from under the shadow of annihilation which has loomed overhead for so long. Only one question remains:  where is the Queen of Blades?

Jim Raynor, ex-Dominion marshal and rebel leader, knows the answer. A powerful Xel’Naga artifact has transformed the Queen of Blades back into her original human form: that of Sarah Kerrigan, a woman who is struggling to find some hope — and some humanity — in the shattered memories of her past. But with the Dominion forces of Arcturus Mengsk scouring the star systems for any trace of the deposed queen, Jim is going to need more than his wits, his fists, and his loyal Raiders to keep Sarah alive.

Goodbye Halloween 2012 – A Look Back

November 1st is always a depressing day for me. Halloween, one of the biggest nights of the year, is now over. No more haunted houses, kids trick or treating, or ghosts and goblins for a whole year. So, we have changed our site back from its more ghoulish-look and will resume our regularly-scheduled program. However, we had fantastic fun at various events like the LA Haunted Hayride, Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, and Knott’s Scary Farm – to name just a few. What’s next? Thanksgiving, the December commercial-religious holiday of your particular persuasion, and New Year’s. We would like to thank @IsItOctoberYet for helping us gather a lot of this coverage (they are some awesome people we love working with) and we look forward to what next year’s twister “haunt minds” think up next! Until then, BOO!

In honor of my favorite holiday, let’s look back on some of our Halloween season coverage:

Project Gorgon Kickstarter Goal in Jeopardy

Here is a letter from Project Gorgon’s Community Manager, Mitch Gross, talking about their game’s Kickstarter campaign and the urgent need for donations before time runs out.

From Project Gorgon

Just wanted to send a quick follow-up note and thank everyone who covered Project: Gorgon during our Kickstarter campaign.

We have 28 hours to go and unless there is a sudden surge in donations it does not look like we will make it.Our main focus with this campaign was to secure funding to improve the art of the game but regardless of how things end, Eric Heimburg and Sandra Powers (our intrepid developers) have been working on this game for three years and still intend to move forward and do the best they can with the resources available.

We haven’t given up hope though and anything you can do to help us get attention to our campaign and to the game itself would be appreciated.
You can find our Kickstarter page at http://kck.st/T0AbsJ

Let me know if there is any additional information or media you need. I’ve attached some screenshots to this email as well.

Thanks!

British Tanks Now in World of Tanks

31 October, 2012 — Wargaming today announced the release of Update 8.1, adding the highly anticipated British line of armored vehicles to the free-to-play MMO action game World of Tanks. The newly added national tech tree contains 22 finest models from the Royal Tank Corps across three main tank classes. World of Tanks Update 8.1 will be available on October 31 for the European players and on November 1 for the American community.

The infantry/cavalry concept of the British armored warfare has been modified to fit into World of Tanks’ three class system of light, medium, and heavy machines. The slow and clunky but powerfully gunned and thickly armoured British heavy tanks can rival the vast majority of top tier machines, while the fast yet firepower lacking medium and light tanks can prove to be invaluable for scouting in combat.

Besides the familiar Matilda, Valentine, and Churchill models that are present in the game as the Soviet Lend-lease premiums, the British line features a wide selection of tech modifications for the Black Prince, Vickers and Cruiser tanks. Further up the tech tree, the selection of armored vehicles includes a diverse range of agile cruiser tanks, such as the Covenanter, Crusader, Cromwell, and the Comet. The Medium branch is topped with two ferocious modifications of the Centurion tank, while the top tier heavies include the maneuverable Caernarvon, the powerful Conqueror, and the intimidating FV215.

Along with the massive addition of new vehicles, Update 8.1 also introduces an overhauled rendering system for Province, El Halluf, Dragon Ridge, and Abbey battling arenas, while the list of premium vehicles now includes the Soviet SU-122-44, the German Pz IV Schmalturm VI, and the Panther M10.

New Trailer and Notes from Outlast

MONTREAL – October 31,2012 –  Red Barrels, the independent developers of survival-horror PC title Outlast, today revealed shocking direct footage of the happenings within Mount Massive Asylum, a facility owned by the Murkof Corporation.

The footage, sent by an anonymous source, was accompanied by a message from the investigative reporter who captured the video, Miles Upshur. His note has been published in its entirety below, and the footage itself can be viewed here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GPf3MdVOKI

Red Barrels strongly encourages the viewing of this video, although many may find it terrifying to view.

Message from Miles Upshur, Investigative Reporter:
I’m risking my life stopping to write this, but the world has to know what I’ve found.

I am currently inside Mount Massive, a supposedly abandoned asylum in Colorado, and I’ve stumbled across an atrocity I can’t put into words. The Murkof Corporation is in the middle of creating something unthinkable here—a malevolence that humanity has yet to experience. I fear for my life, and for mankind, because of what I’m witnessing.

Video of everything I’ve seen so far can be found on this tape. I need to find my way out of this complex, but fortunately I have what I need to capture more footage in the meantime… as long as my camera power lasts, at least.

If you find this note, please spread this video and share the truth. They must be stopped.
