River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next Out Now

Arc System Works America, Inc. has announced the release of River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next, the brand-new game sequel and conclusion in Kunio’s “Three Kingdoms” story. The game is available today for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, and Steam.

River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next is the sequel game to 2022’s River City Saga: Three Kingdoms, which brought players a unique experience set during China’s Three Kingdoms period and was based on the popular Downtown Special: River City Historical Drama! game. The original game and new sequel see River City characters enter China’s Three Kingdoms period and take on roles set within the historical tale, Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

In River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next, players will experience 6 exciting story chapters that follow the wild antics of over 100 River City characters. The sequel immediately follows the Battle of Red Cliffs and continues towards the climax of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel (the Battle of Wuzhang Plains), bringing the conclusion to Kunio’s “Three Kingdoms” story as he takes the heroic role of Guan Yu and joins the hot-blooded battle over the nation.

River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next is out at last! People are mostly familiar with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms tale up until the Battle of Red Cliffs. The story after that, however, is full of dramatic twists and turns as well,” said Kenji Sato, Director, Arc System Works. “I wanted to give players a chance to enjoy the later chapters of the Three Kingdoms story. If you play this and the previous River City Saga: Three Kingdoms game, you might find yourself oddly familiar with the classic tale. Ride on Red Hare to travel through our River City take on the traditional world! Be sure to see for yourself the surprising twist at the end of the story.”

Players can expect the following action-packed story and gameplay in the new River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next:

  • River City Cast in Three Kingdoms Roles – Including Kunio as Guan Yu, Misako as Zhuge Liang, Goda as Liu Bei, Yamada as Cao Cao, Toraichi as Huang Zhong, Tobioka as Sima Yi, and many others.
  • Romance of the Three Kingdoms Twists – The story of famous generals joining Liu Bei’s army in the battle against rival Cao Cao takes some inventive River City-style twists thanks to the influence of Kunio and his friends. Enjoy dramatic and comedic twists that can only be found in the River City version of the tale!
  • Get on Red Hare and Send Enemies Packing! – Red Hare makes an appearance as a motorcycle this time! You can summon Red Hare when the gauge is full, allowing you to travel through stages on the bike. Soar down the road while tossing enemies aside and even create your own customized Red Hare ride by collecting parts.
    • And meeting certain conditions can even change Red Hare into something other than a motorcycle…
  • Arsenal of Flashy Tactics and Specials – Similar to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, game players will experience clever strategies and powerful military tactics throughout the game.

Elgato Wave Desk Stand Review – Big Mic Stand in A Compact Package

The Elgato Wave Desk Stand is a breath of fresh air in a market often dominated by bulky, cumbersome microphone arms. This compact stand, with its sleek design and robust build, proves that you don’t need a massive piece of equipment to achieve professional-quality audio.

Right out of the box, the Wave Desk Stand impresses with its solid metal construction. It feels sturdy and well-made, inspiring confidence that it can handle the weight of even heavier microphones. Setting it up is a breeze; simply place it on your desk, attach your microphone, and you’re ready to go. The stand’s weighted base provides excellent stability, preventing any wobbling or tipping even when adjusting the microphone’s position.

Speaking of adjustments, the Wave Desk Stand offers a surprising amount of flexibility for its size. The arm rotates 275 degrees, and the head swivels a full 360 degrees, allowing you to position your microphone exactly where you need it. Whether you’re leaning in for an intense gaming session or sitting back for a relaxed podcast recording, this stand can accommodate your needs.

One of the standout features of the Wave Desk Stand is its versatility. While primarily designed for microphones, it can also be used to mount webcams or even small lighting equipment. This makes it a valuable tool for content creators of all kinds, from streamers and podcasters to YouTubers and video conferencing professionals. The included adaptors ensure compatibility with a wide range of devices, making it a future-proof investment for your evolving setup.

Compared to other similarly priced microphone stands, the Elgato Wave Desk Stand offers a compelling combination of quality, functionality, and value. While some budget-friendly stands might skimp on build quality or features, the Wave Desk Stand delivers on all fronts. For instance, the Rode PSA1 is a popular alternative, but its scissor arm design can be less stable and more prone to wobbling than the Wave Desk Stand’s solid arm. Similarly, desktop stands like the Neewer Adjustable Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand offer comparable flexibility but often lack the premium build quality and stability of the Elgato offering.

However, it’s important to acknowledge that the Wave Desk Stand’s compact size might be a limitation for some users. If you require a microphone stand with extended reach or need to position your microphone far from your desk, a traditional boom arm might be a better choice. But for those seeking a space-saving solution that doesn’t compromise on stability or functionality, the Wave Desk Stand is an excellent option.

In conclusion, the Elgato Wave Desk Stand is a well-designed, versatile, and affordable microphone stand that punches above its weight. Its compact size, sturdy construction, and flexible positioning make it an ideal choice for a wide range of users. Whether you’re a seasoned streamer, a budding podcaster, or simply looking to upgrade your home office setup, the Wave Desk Stand is a worthy investment at $59.99 dollars.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

  • Compact and space-saving design
  • Sturdy and stable construction
  • Flexible positioning
  • Versatile compatibility with various devices
  • Excellent value for the price

Cons:

  • Limited reach compared to full-sized boom arms

Elgato Prompter Review: Unlock Confident On-Camera Performance

The Elgato Prompter has quickly become an essential tool in my content creation workflow as well as daily telecommute. As someone who regularly produces videos for various purposes as well as takes part in online meetings, I’m always searching for ways to enhance the quality of my presentations and engage my audience more effectively. The Elgato Prompter has undoubtedly delivered on that front, exceeding my expectations in several ways.

From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the sleek design and user-friendly setup. The single USB-C connection for both power and data is a brilliant touch, eliminating the tangle of cables that often plague my workspace. Within minutes, I had the prompter connected to my MacBook Pro and was ready to start recording. The included step-up rings ensured compatibility with my camera lens, and the backplate provided added stability for my webcam, demonstrating the thoughtful design that caters to various camera setups.

The integrated design, with the screen seamlessly attached to the beamsplitter, is a game-changer. Gone are the days of fiddling with separate components and struggling to achieve perfect alignment. The text is always precisely positioned and effortlessly readable, allowing me to maintain natural eye contact with the camera and deliver my lines with newfound fluency. The 9-inch display is generously sized, and the text is crisp and clear, even when positioned at a comfortable distance. Some have said that the size of the display is a bit small but I believe that is completely use case-based. If you are sitting in your office creating content or hosting an online meeting, chances are that you will be close enough to the Prompter that the size will be ample. If you are trying to leverage the Prompter for a studio shoot when standing 5-10 feet from the Prompter, you might have to strain your eyes to make everything out clearly – or – increase the font of your script quite a bit.

One of the standout features of the Elgato Prompter is its intuitive software. It offers a comprehensive suite of customization options, allowing me to fine-tune the scrolling speed, adjust the text size, and even integrate with other applications like Twitch chat for real-time interaction with my audience. I particularly appreciate the ability to control the prompter with my Elgato Stream Deck, enabling hands-free operation and a more streamlined workflow. Being able to start and pause my script with the touch of one of its buttons is a match made in heaven. This integration showcases the synergy between Elgato products, creating a cohesive ecosystem for content creators.

Beyond the technical aspects, the Elgato Prompter has significantly impacted my on-camera presence. I’m no longer burdened by the pressure of memorizing scripts, which allows me to focus on my delivery and connect with my audience on a more genuine level. The prompter has instilled a newfound confidence in my ability to present information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner. It has undoubtedly elevated the professionalism of my videos, making them more polished and captivating.

Most people will probably purchase the Elgato Prompter for use in their content creation – and I have been using it for that purpose as well – however I also LOVE using it in my online meetings. I can bring relevant material to the display and scan it for talking points or even take notes on it. Overall, the increased eye contact makes for a much more engaging virtual meeting.

While the Elgato Prompter is a remarkable tool, there are a few minor considerations to keep in mind. The $279.99 price point, though competitive for its features, might be a hurdle for some content creators with limited budgets. Additionally, while the prompter boasts compatibility with a wide array of cameras, the design seems particularly optimized for DSLR cameras and Elgato’s own Facecam series. Other webcams may function adequately, but they might not achieve the same level of stability or seamless integration as those specifically catered to in the design.

In conclusion, the Elgato Prompter is a valuable investment for any content creator seeking to elevate their video production quality. Its user-friendly design, seamless integration, and professional-grade features make it a standout product in the market. Whether you’re a seasoned YouTuber, an aspiring streamer, or an educator crafting online courses, the Elgato Prompter empowers you to deliver your message with confidence, clarity, and captivating engagement. It has transformed my video creation process, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their on-screen presence.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 5

Pros:

  • Easy setup and user-friendly interface
  • Integrated design with perfect screen alignment
  • High-quality display with clear text
  • Versatile camera compatibility
  • Improves eye contact and delivery

Cons:

  • Design may favor DSLR cameras and Elgato Facecams over other webcams

Six Days in Fallujah Command and Control Update Launch Trailer

Today, Victura released its much-anticipated “Command and Control” update for the historically accurate first-person tactical shooter Six Days in Fallujah, which is available now to all players on Steam.

This update includes Six Days in Fallujah’s first documentary story missions, taking players inside the beginning of ISIS and the bloodiest encounter for Western forces in nearly half a century. During these missions, players participate in recreations of actual events alongside documentary footage and interviews with Iraqis and Americans who were present during the Second Battle of Fallujah in November 2004.

Additionally, the Command and Control update now includes a solo mode in which players command AI fireteams programmed with authentic military tactics. Harkening back to the original Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Brothers in Arms, SOCOM, and other classic “squad-based shooters,” players use sophisticated military maneuvers to overcome simulated real-world events from the battle.

Six Days in Fallujah is a highly realistic squad-based shooter and the world’s first documentary video game. It was initially launched into Steam Early Access on June 22, 2023, and instantly became the world’s #1 best-selling PC game and remained a Top-10 seller throughout the next week. Conceived by Sgt. Eddie Garcia, a Marine who was wounded during the battle, Six Days in Fallujah was created in collaboration with more than 100 US Marines and Soldiers as well as more than two dozen Iraqi civilians and soldiers.

One of the most consequential events of the past half-century, the Second Battle of Fallujah began on November 7, 2004, after Al Qaeda in Iraq seized control of the city of Fallujah. Six months after losing the city, Iraq’s prime minister ordered a military operation in which Iraqi soldiers fought alongside American and British forces to retake the city. The battle became the bloodiest for Western forces since 1968, re-shaped military doctrine and Western policy, and established a multi-decade alliance between Western and Iraqi forces. In 2006, the Al Qaeda forces who survived the battle renamed their group ISIS, and by 2014 seized more than 40,000 square miles of territory across the Middle East.

“What happened in Fallujah throughout 2004 set the world down a path from which we have not yet returned,” said Victura CEO Peter Tamte. “As a documentary video game, Six Days in Fallujah deepens our understanding of the realities of war by combining the most accurate simulation of warfare to date with the words and experiences of the Iraqis and Americans who were there.”

New Features in the Six Days in Fallujah Command and Control Update:
  • First Documentary Story Missions: The first two single-player story campaign missions available in the Command and Control update draw players into the genesis of ISIS and the opening day of the Second Battle of Fallujah. These missions also act as a tutorial for solo players to learn the tactics and controls for leading three NPC teammates using the newly implemented Fireteam AI system.
  • Advanced Fireteam AI System: Six Days in Fallujah now gives players command of an AI fireteam to deploy sophisticated tactics such as Fire and Maneuver, Ambushes, Breaching, and 360-degree Security. The innovative “Go! Command” makes it as easy to give orders as it is to fire weapons. One tap commands teams to suppress enemies, watch targets, breach fortifications, or follow in formation.
  • AI Teammates: Just like actual combat, completing missions successfully requires a full fireteam of four people and effective use of tactics. Now, in addition to controlling AI fireteams in the new single-player mode, players can also substitute AI teammates online whenever all four humans aren’t available.
  • New “HLZ Wolf” Procedural Mission: In addition to two all-new single-player story campaign missions, this update includes the new “HLZ Wolf” Procedural Mission. All eight Procedural missions can now be played solo with Fireteam AI cooperatively with four players or with fewer than four players, with the game filling any missing slots with AI teammates.
  • Graphical Overhaul: Six Days in Fallujah now features ray-traced lighting and many new visual effects through NVIDIA’s RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI) technology, building upon the game’s industry-leading Global Dynamic Lighting and Procedural Architecture technologies, which dynamically simulate real weather and lighting effects. Additionally, most of the game’s characters, environments, vehicles, and effects have been improved for higher visual fidelity.
  • Additional Improvements: More than 300 technical enhancements, improving everything from game performance to the effectiveness of enemy AI to the smoothness of interactions and controls.

Arrow Video US December 2024 Release Schedule

On December 10th, Arrow Video exposes the vampires of Manhattan with the intense horror of The Addiction on 4K UHD. Kathleen Conklin (Lili Taylor, The Conjuring) is a graduate student who meets a well-dressed woman (Annabella Sciorra, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) on the street. Instead of a meet-cute, the woman drags Kathleen down an alley stairwell and bites her throat. As she recovers from the wound, Kathleen begins to change, becoming more aggressive, hating daylight, and no longer liking food. Eventually she gets a hunger for drinking the blood of others. The philosophy student begins to question her existence as a vampire and finds a mentor in an older vampire (Christopher Walken, Dune: Part Two), who offers hope for controlling the bloodlust. Among the supporting actors are Paul Calderon (Pulp Fiction) and future Sopranos cast members Edie Falco and Michael Imperioli.

The special features include director Abel Ferrara’s audio commentary, a documentary with Ferrara getting in touch with Lili Taylor and Christopher Walken, video interviews with Abel Ferrara and Brad Stevens, archival video of the post-production, image gallery, the original trailer, and an illustrated collector’s booklet.

On December 10th, Arrow Video takes a nostalgic trip back to the days of renting VHS cassettes in The Last Video Store on Blu-ray. Canadian directors Cody Kennedy and Tim Rutherford’s debut feature film mixes the bliss of being surrounded by shelves of tapes with the fears of working the night shift.

A young woman named Nyla is tasked with sorting out her recently departed father’s possessions when she discovers a pile of VHS tapes that had been rented from a local video store. It turns out that the store still exists, so the tapes are now extremely overdue. She races over to avoid another day of late fees, and store clerk Kevin is impressed that her dad shared his same taste in obscure films. But there is a mystery tape in the pile and Kevin decides to put it in the VCR machine for further investigation. What happens next is a shocking surprise, and Kevin and Nyla must figure out how to survive the night as horror is unleashed all around them. The Last Video Store is an equally charming and chilling homage to the days of video stores and movie rentals.

The special features include audio commentary, visual essays, the short film of The Last Video Store from 2013, excerpts from the first attempt to make the feature film version, commercial, shorts, trailer, double-side fold-out poster ,and an illustrated collector’s booklet.

On December 17th, the explosive action/sci-fi blockbuster Demolition Man makes its global 4K UHD debut and is also available on Blu-ray. The Limited-Edition release features a brand new 4K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative by Arrow Films, approved by director Marco Brambilla.

The world’s most dangerous criminal wakes up in the future where crime has been eliminated. The only person who can stop him is a nemesis from his past. Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes, Blade) and his criminal crew ran afoul of the law back in 1996. LAPD Sergeant John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone, Rocky), a supercop nicknamed “The Demolition Man” for his ability to destroy everything in the name of justice, captured Phoenix, and both men ended up being arrested. Instead of being locked up in prison, the duo was sentenced to a revolutionary Sub-Zero Rehabilitation that involves cryogenic freezing and subliminal messages to change them into model citizens. Phoenix thaws out to meet for his parole hearing in 2032. Dr. Raymond Cocteau (Andre Gregory, My Dinner With Andre) has no clue how dangerous Phoenix is. The felon escapes and has no problem dealing with the cops of the future. The only hope for catching him is to melt the ice on Spartan. The police hope he still has the skills to take on his former enemy. The action is laced with comedy from the time jump experience. Spartan finds himself in a strange world where commercial jingles have replaced songs, and three shells are the new toilet paper. Officer Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock, in her breakthrough role), a fan of the ‘90s, helps Spartan adjust while he tracks down Phoenix.

The special features include the international “Pizza Hut” version, an audio commentary with director Marco Brambilla and screenwriter Daniel Waters, two more audio commentaries including director Marco Brambilla and mega-producer Joel Silver, a video essay, video interviews with crew members, theatrical trailer, image gallery, 6 postcard sized artcards, decals, double-sided fold-out poster, and a 50-page perfect bound collectors book with new essays.
