Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will be Verified on Steam Deck at Launch

We have some exciting news to share: our talented developers gave Steam Deck players the option to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows at launch ; despite initially announcing we wouldn’t be able to support until later. Indeed, the team made great progress over the past few weeks and was able to make it happen for launch, despite the fact the team thought it would not be the case. It is now fully confirmed the game is “Steam Deck verified” for launch on March 20th.

We know many of you who play on Steam Deck have requested this, so we’re thrilled to be able to bring Shadows to this platform. While graphical settings will be locked at launch, you’ll be able to choose the upscalers you want, and we’re looking into providing further options in future updates.

Steam players will also be able to enjoy Assassin’s Creed Shadows Achievements from day one, and you can find the full list of achievements here. You can also check out the collectible virtual trading cards, badges, emoticons, and background images coming exclusively to Steam.

Wishlist Assassin’s Creed Shadows now or pre-purchase it to get the Claws of Awaji expansion and Thrown to the Dogs bonus quest for free. Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases on March 20 on Steam, with the expansion launching later in 2025.

Tripwire Presents Unveils Turn-Based Viking Game, Norse

Tripwire Presents, the publishing division of Tripwire Interactive that focuses on releasing great games from other independent studios, today announced a new partnership deal with independent developer Arctic Hazard to publish their upcoming Viking-age, turn-based tactical title, Norse. Based in Vestby, Norway, Arctic Hazard is an independent game developer whose team have worked on a variety of critically-acclaimed AAA titles including Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, Syndicate, and Origins, World of Tanks, Metro: Exodus, Age of Conan and more. In today’s new video, Funcom is proud to show the scale and scope of the desert planet, which is inspired by Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel and Legendary Entertainment’s award-winning films. Discover what lies beyond the horizon in Exploring Arrakis – Secrets of the Desert.

Although a desert planet, Arrakis is surprisingly diverse, as showcased in the recent Beauty of Arrakis video. Reveal the resources of your immediate surroundings through your personal scanner and modules attached to your vehicles, or climb the highest peaks to launch a survey probe that fills in a large area of your map, including important points of interest, like shipwrecks or ecology labs.

The huge, ever-changing end-game area, the Deep Desert, beckons with one hand and threatens with the other, as spice blows and Coriolis storms fill the sky. These fatal planetary storms sweep across the map regularly, changing the map every time, revealing new resources and locations while burying the old. When the dust settles, players can scout the fresh land, making maps to sell on the Exchange to other players.
