Square Enix Collective and FuturLab are excited to announce that POWERWASH SIMULATOR, which has recently entered Steam Early Access on May 19th, will be published by Square Enix Ltd on Steam.

FuturLab Founder and Creative Director James Marsden commented on the recent announcement. “Our original vision for POWERWASH SIMULATOR was to expand the game in ways that would appeal to a large audience, with the potential of licensed content. Square Enix Collective is the perfect publishing choice as we share a united vision regarding the future of the game.” Marsden further noted that “the creative opportunities that this collaboration opens up for us is incredible, and we’re delighted to be working with such a renowned publisher.”

“I knew as soon as I first played a pre-release build of the game, that POWERWASH SIMULATOR would become an incredibly satisfying and addictive – yet oddly soothing – experience!” added Phil Elliott, head of Square Enix Collective; “We can’t wait to see what people think of the game and look forward to supporting an ever-expanding experience in the years ahead.”

Oddworld: Collection for Nintendo Switch Out Now

What’s better than Oddworld Inhabitants’ critically acclaimed Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, and Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath? All three of them in a beautifully designed single package. Oddworld: Collection for Nintendo Switch is now available at your local video game retailer.

Created by Oddworld Inhabitants, and co-published by Microids, Oddworld Collection lets Switch players experience the oddest variety of classic action-adventure games ever created. Whether you are at home or on-the-go, the Oddworld Collection offers you three distinct adventures to enjoy.

The Collection includes New ‘n’ Tasty, an action-adventure platformer that challenges you to escape from RuptureFarms, a meat processing plant with plans to turn you into their next tasty meat product. Run for your life or use stealth to safely escape and save others. How you survive is up to you.

In Munch’s Oddysee you must “switch” between the strangest video game duo ever to avoid extinction at the hands of evil scientists using animals as product testing guinea pigs, or in this case, guinea Gabbits.

Rounding out the collection is Stranger’s Wrath, which offers you a brilliant mix of third-person exploration and first-person shooter gameplay. You play as Stranger, a bounty hunter with secret to uncover who must earn enough Moola to afford an overly expensive lifesaving procedure.

Known for their infectious gameplay, humor, and exciting storylines, Oddworld games also spotlight ironies that address the greater challenges facing our own human condition.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath features a unique hybrid viewpoint where the player can switch between first and third person at will, depending on the situation. First person for combat situations, third person for world traversal. You take on the role of Stranger, a mysterious hunter chasing dangerous bounties, using a combination of shooting, platforming, and puzzles to capture your quarry, dead or alive, as well as solve the game’s greater mysteries. Full of Easter eggs and quirky characters, Stanger’s Wrath will reward those with an adventurous spirit.

Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee

In Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, you “switch” between the characters of Abe and Munch as you try to bust out of an evil animal test lab, reclaim the last Gabbit eggs on Oddworld, which have been packaged in a can of Gabbiar. You must strategically deploy multiple abilities and psychic powers as you try to exact vengeance on the Vykkers while trying to save fellow test creatures and help them battle back from possible extinction.

Oddworld: New and Tasty

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is a ground-up remake of the mind-blowing puzzle-platforming adventure Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. While New ‘n’ Tasty is a remake of a beloved classic, it uses none of the original assets. It has a gorgeous HD aesthetic that caters to the modern gamer’s sensibilities. Play as Abe, a hapless, clumsy cog in the corporate machine. You stumble upon a ghastly plan to convert your kind into delicious meaty snacks. Your escape will not be easy, and once free from immediate danger, you will discover the beginnings of a greater purpose and try to save your species from slavery.

Knott’s 100th Anniversary Preview Night Rundown

Recently, we had the honor of attending the preview party for Knott’s Berry Farm’s 100th anniversary celebration. We arrived at Knott’s in the early evening and walked around the beautifully-decorated park, taking in the sights. Boysenberry-colored ribbons and bows adorn much of the pathways. Locations like the Gold Trails Hotel, Calico Saloon, and Calico Main Stage all looked stunning. After settling in, we watched an opening ceremony with clips of Knott’s memories as told by various celebrities, an intro from Jon Storbeck (the park president), and some reveals of various park characters to be found wandering the pathways during the 100th anniversary celebration. One minor mention from Storbeck was about Knott’s Merry Farm later this year, and gives us much hope that it will be proceeded by Knott’s Scary Farm!

🎃An aside as to the Scary Farm, several theme park blogs and YouTube channels have been showing video and photos of Knott’s Scary Farm mazes under construction. It stands to reason that the venerable haunt event will return this year – as to what extent, that remains to be seen, so stay tuned!🎃

After the presentation, we journeyed over to the Calico Mine Ride, followed by Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair. Bear-Y Tales: Return to the Fair is a 4D dark ride with shooting elements a la the Astro Blasters attraction at the “park down the street” and Knott’s previous attraction in the same location, Voyage to the Iron Reef. Bear-Y Tales: Return to the Fair takes a more whimsical foray into ride-shooters with guests lobbing blasts of boysenberry jam at those pesky Coyotes that try to ruin the fair and steal all the pies for themselves! The 3D video/glasses system in the ride is simply the best I have ever seen on a theme park ride – ever. The 3D is smooth and did not illicit any ill feelings while riding the attraction. The boysenberry blasters utilize a pull string system similar to Toy Story Midway Mania and, for the most part, worked well. There were a few times, however, that the interactive ride did not register my string pull. But, I digress, as the overall ride experience more than made up for it.

Still… And I am about to digress yet again, part of me wishes that Knott’s had gone all-in on making an entirely new Bear-Y Tales experience with real, physical animatronics, and sets. More and more, theme parks are opting for projection effects, 3D ride video, and other gimmicks which take away from the craftsmanship of practical, in-your-face characters and theming. Now that I’ve come off sounding like some crochety old timer complaining about “Back in my day…”, it’s back to our event experience!

After riding the two attractions, we headed out to find some of the various good eats available to park guests. I think my favorite of the night had to be the fried chicken sandwich. The catch is, instead of bread or buns, they use Krispy Kreme-style donuts! It was sweet, salty, and savory. The boysenberry funnel cake was, of course, outstanding (Knott’s is well-known for its special funnel cake recipe), and we had some great pulled pork and chicken over at the Boardwalk BBQ. The boysenberry cider was still incredible (it’s the same recipe as sampled in their previous tasting event) and, overall, Knott’s is bringing out some great food for the celebration. Additionally, Knott’s has brought back its Knott’s Summer Nights event, which sees various musical performers and Dj’s entertain guests on select evenings.

Scattered throughout the park, you’ll find some very cool photo opportunities based on various Knott’s attractions of yesteryear. Attractions such as the parachute ride, Soap Box Racers, Haunted Shack, and a lot more. Each photo op has its own gimmick – like the Soap Box Racers photo op featuring racers you can sit in, or the Haunted Shack featuring one of the attractions illusions. They even brought out the full-size, lit-up letter “K” sign that used to adorn the Sky Tower before being replaced by a more modern version with LEDs. It’s a great nod to the past and provides guests with even more enjoyment – especially those guests old enough to remember the original attractions!

Overall, the “Knott’s 100th Anniversary: A Knott’s Family Reunion” celebration is an outstanding way to get back into theme parks now that the light is at the end of the COVID tunnel. The rides are as great, food is fantastic, and entertainment – well – entertaining. The celebration runs until September 6th, so head over to Knott’s official website for more information.

Grand Casino Tycoon Out Now

Do you have what it takes to design, build, and manage a successful casino? It’s not as simple as it sounds! Try your own hand at the casino game in Grand Casino Tycoon, now available on Windows PC via Steam! Aerosoft, a prolific publisher of best-selling simulation titles, and developer stillalive studios are inviting players to take on the role of a virtual Sam “Ace” Rothstein as they bring to life their vision for the ultimate casino from blueprint to the strip — designing, building, and operating a deluxe house ‘o cards so magnificent, so opulent, and so enticing that everyone from wannabe cardsharps to billionaire CEOs will want to walk through the doors and empty their pockets.

“Grand Casino Tycoon is inspired by classics of the genre, but we’ve taken things in a new direction with all sorts of fresh and fun mechanics,” said Winfried Diekmann, CEO of Aerosoft. “It’s still a game about building a business, but with some original strategy and humorous elements sure to keep players coming back for more.”

“We set out to make a title that took all the popular tropes of the tycoon genre — planning, building, and operating a business — but that was also funny and endearing,” said Julian Mautner, CEO of stillalive studios. “These extra elements of humor and fun characters add an entertaining layer to a deep ‘observe-and-adapt’ business management sim. They created Grand Casino Tycoon.”

The casino business is about one thing and one thing only: lining your suit pockets with wads of sweet, sweet hard-earned cash. But not your hard-earned cash, of course. In order to do this, you’ll need to plan out the perfect casino floor. Make sure there are plenty of shiny, exciting slot machines for your less… wealthy patrons, along with a bar and some easy access snacks. The real money comes with the VIP guests: professional players, billionaire CEOs, and the occasional secret agent. Entice them to drop some dough by building the more traditional casino table games like roulette, blackjack, and…you guessed it…poker! Keep ‘em spending with a constant supply of fancy cocktails and energized by delicious meals from top-quality chefs. However, don’t forget to utilize all your security options to keep ‘em from collecting too many chips — the House always wins, after all.

Grand Casino Tycoon Key Features:

  • Plan, Build, Manage: The classic tycoon formula will task players with overseeing every step of the process, from designing the layout to monitoring the day-to-day activities
  • Players Gonna Play: Everyone wants to win, but preferences will vary. Ensure a successful business by catering to every level of customer: slot machines for the basic bunch, craps and blackjack for the high-flyin’ elite — there’s something for everyone in between!
  • Big Brother is Watching: Use security cams, pit bosses, and other manipulation tactics to keep a close eye on who is playing, but more importantly, who is winning
  • Two Different Modes: Not everyone wants to play in the cutthroat world of the Vegas strip; Grand Casino Tycoon offers two modes of play so that everyone can enjoy the experience the way they want: Campaign
  • Mode and Custom Casino Mode

Published by Aerosoft and developed by stillalive studios, Grand Casino Tycoon is now available for Windows PC via Steam for $24.95 USD with a special limited-time -20% new release discount.
