Slitherine Games and Code Force are thrilled to announce that today, March 10th, players will be able to return to the Distant Worlds universe with the highly anticipated sequel, Distant Worlds 2, launching on PC.

With the first installment setting the standard for the sci-fi 4X genre as fans have come to know it today, Distant Worlds 2 builds on this by launching players into a living galaxy in constant evolution. The powerful AI engine has been created so that you can also play as Ship Designer only, if you choose, with the rest of the galaxy evolving and living independently in the background.

Every faction in Distant Worlds 2 has its own story arc and dedicated faction missions. Explore the vastness of space, find valuable resources, discover potential colonies for your empire and make contact with other empires, discussing treaties, making trade offers and forging alliances. Defend the outlying areas of your empire to protect it from raiding pirates, or even dangerous space monsters. Develop new technologies for building your own unique ships and star bases. Design your own starships, mixing designs and elements such as weapons, engines and sensors. The possibilities are endless, play your own way and map out your own adventure across the galaxy.

Distant Worlds 2 also features a completely overhauled, clear and easy to use UI, and an all-new introductory tutorial will ease players into the world; helping them get to grips with all of its systems.

Free League and Titan Books Announce Partnership for the ALIEN Universe

Free League Publishing and Titan Books today announced a collaboration to publish a unified storyline set within the ALIEN Universe. For 2022 and into 2023, the editorial and writing teams will share assets and coordinate plotlines to form a cohesive narrative across three original novels and the multiple award-winning ALIEN RPG.

“The ALIEN RPG has established the ‘Frontier War,’ as remote human colonies come under assault by an unknown enemy, dropping a deadly pathogen that unleashes monsters on those worlds,” Titan Acquisitions Editor Steve Saffel said. “At the same time, in the wake of the Titan novel Alien: Into Charybdis, political tensions on Earth reach a boiling point.”

These dramatic events play out in the recently released ALIEN RPG: Colonial Marines Operations Manual by Free League and three upcoming trade paperback novels by Titan Books, each independent but all set against a dramatic galactic backdrop:

Alien: Colony War by David Barnett (April 2022)
Alien: Inferno’s Fall by Phillipa Ballantine and Clara Carija (July 2022)
Alien: Enemy of My Enemy by Mary SanGiovanni (February 2023)

The results will set the stage for further developments within the ALIEN Universe, as depicted in the roleplaying game and original fiction.

Yesterday on PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, Capcom revealed Exoprimal™. This team-based action game is a new IP set to unleash a prehistoric blast from the past on the near future. Suit up in powered armor to put down dinosaur invasions and save humanity from extinction when the Exofighters deploy for battle on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam in 2023.

It’s 2040 and the planet is in crisis. Dinosaurs are appearing from thin air and laying waste to cities across the globe. Threatened by history’s deadliest creatures, the world turns to the powerful Aibius Corporation and its revolutionary technology for help. The company’s next-generation AI, Leviathan, can forecast where dinosaur outbreaks will occur and deploy Exofighters to the area. Armed with state-of-the-art mechanized combat armor known as Exosuits, these warriors represent humanity’s last hope.

Exoprimal pioneers a new multiplayer experience rooted in co-op – but with a competitive edge. In the game’s main mode, Dino Survival, teams fight for every breath against countless dinosaurs while racing to complete missions before rival squads in 5v5 matches. A dynamic mix of objectives keeps players on their guard and ensures each match is different form the last. Exofighters will need to stay on their toes as hunts transition into precious cargo deliveries or desperate last stands against relentless assaults. Opposing teams are even given opportunities to tackle adversaries head-on and impede their progress. While Exoprimal is purely focused around multiplayer, a narrative is interwoven throughout the game. Players can sink their teeth into the world’s rich history and colorful characters by unlocking new story threads and piecing together the mystery behind the dinosaur outbreaks.

Exofighters are always outnumbered and must work together to overcome overwhelming odds. Their Exosuits come in an array of classes, each playing a distinct role in combat. Assault models like the marksman Deadeye and the melee-oriented Zephyr excel at cutting down enemy swarms. Meanwhile, tanks such as the shield-bearing Roadblock and support types like the vital Witchdoctor help keep everyone alive to fight another day. Every model is outfitted with a unique armory and special abilities. Players can even swap between Exosuits on the fly to overcome any situation, no matter how dire.

At yesterday’s PlayStation State of Play livestream, Tango Gameworks revealed the thrilling new trailer for Ghostwire: Tokyo, an exciting preview of the mystical action and fascinating world players can look forward to exploring when the game launches on PlayStation®5(PS5™) and PC on March 25, 2022.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is an action-adventure game that challenges players to master the powerful arts of Ethereal Weaving while working to defeat the menacing Hannya and his followers, the Visitors, who have invaded Tokyo. Knott’s Berry Farm Boysenberry Festival 2022 Preview Event

Recently, we got the chance to attend the preview event for Knott’s Berry Farm’s upcoming Boysenberry Festival. Starting March 18th, park guests will be delighted by new food offerings, shows, merchandise, and other various entertainment opportunities throughout the park. As per the usual with the park preview events, a big focus is food and merch. So, we showed up with stomachs full of nothing but hopes and boysenberry dreams, and excitedly awaited the start of the event.

Now, not EVERYTHING is available for tasting at these preview events. Knott’s Berry Farm usually picks a select group of items from the menu for us to sample and this event was no different. Personally, I really wanted to try the boysenberry corndog with boysenberry mustard but, alas, it was not meant to be this evening. Upon walking into the Wilderness Dancehall, I was delighted to see boysenberry colored decorations and lighting setup. This venue is so versatile – from being the location of a Knott’s Scary Farm maze in October to being a fantastic Christmas house during the Merry Farm and, yes, even the epicenter of a boysenberry tasting event.

There was a long table on the elevated platform where Santa usually sits during Knott’s Merry Farm. Of course, there was no Santa here today, unless you think of the park as Santa and the gifts being delicious flavor. The first sample I tried was the mashes potatoes and meatballs with boysenberry barbeque sauce. This floored me – it was such an outstanding treat: Savory, sweet, and salty all in one. After that, we got to try the chicken dumplings with boysenberry wanton and teriyaki sauce on a bed of fried rice. I really liked this dish but my traveling companion did not so much. They said the boysenberry conflicted with the savory nature of the offering. I thought it enhanced it – so is the subjectivity of food reviews!

Then it was time to get to the beverage counter. There were several options, but I was not a big fan of the boysenberry horchata. The flavors just didn’t flow together well for my liking. It was milky but the boysenberry provided the wrong kind of sweetness. I did, however, really enjoy the deconstructed lemonade with blackberries, loganberries, and raspberries. It was just a blast of freshness. Additionally, I give high marks to both the boysenberry hefeweizen beer and seltzer. Either choice is sure to refresh you on your day at the park. As always, enjoy responsibly – they’re so tasty, it might not be that difficult to over-indulge!

Over at the merchandise counter, there were all sorts of items on display. Shirts, boysenberry coffee, coffee cups, jams, jellies, and a whole lot more. I have a feeling that there will be plenty to purchase during your trip to the Boysenberry Festival this year. Personally, I will be bringing home several bags of coffee from the event when we come back for the full Boysenberry Festival experience on March 19th.

During our preview event, we did not get to see any plans for shows or other activities but there are usually several and I’m excited to see what they are. The Knott’s Boysenberry Festival runs from March 18th through April 24th. On a side note, I can’t believe it’s March already! Looking at the Knott’s events calendar, next up on the list after the Boysenberry Festival is Summer Nights from May 20th through September 5th and then… Scary Farm! 2022 has been flying by so far. Gundam Evolution to Launch in 2022

Leading video game developer BANDAI NAMCO Online and publisher BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. today announced that GUNDAM EVOLUTION will release in 2022 in North America, Europe and Japan on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One; the title will also simultaneously release on PC by BANDAI NAMCO Online in these same regions as well as across other parts of Asia. The franchise’s first-ever free-to-play hero shooter, GUNDAM EVOLUTION will offer a 6v6 competitive team-play dynamic with playable mobile suits from across the Gundam multiverse.

GUNDAM EVOLUTION is a free-to-play team-based first-person shooter featuring 6v6 PvP combat. The game will offer three objective-based game modes: Point Capture, Domination and Destruction. The title presents a unique set of challenges that will require teams to craft and execute formidable offensive and defensive strategies to emerge victorious.

Each playable unit in GUNDAM EVOLUTION possesses its own unique combination of offensive, defensive and/or supportive skills capable of swinging the tides of battle. The starting roster of playable characters will feature 12 units, including the classic RX-78-2 GUNDAM and the iconic ASW-G-08 GUNDAM BARBATOS. Additional mobile suits and customizable items can be unlocked in two ways: Capital Points (CP), which are accumulated in-game through gameplay, or EVO Coins, which will be available for real-world purchase.

Closed Network Tests for GUNDAM EVOLUTION will take place on the PC platform from April 7-12 and for console platforms in the future to test the game’s online servers. Fans eager to suit up and hit the battlefield can register for the PC Network Test by visiting the GUNDAM EVOLUTION Steam® store page between March 9 – March 28 and clicking on “Request Access” under Playtest to apply.

Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have released a new trailer narrated by Bruce Campbell for the co-op PvP and PvE multiplayer action title Evil Dead: The Game, this time revealing the unique gameplay behind the most horrifying force of evil ever to torment the living: the vile Kandarian Demon.

With terrifying possession powers and an army of darkness at its command, the Kandarian Demon is a powerhouse to be feared as it flies through the woods chasing survivors. Evil Dead: The Game is available to pre-order now for release on May 13, 2022, on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4, and Xbox One. Pre-ordering any version of the game grants two bonus Ash outfits: the Ash Williams S-Mart Employee Outfit and Ash Williams Gallant Knight Outfit. The game’s Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass 1, featuring four upcoming DLC packs. Evil Dead: The Game has also been announced for future release on Nintendo Switch.

Evil Dead: The Game is officially licensed by Boss Team Games from Renaissance Pictures, STUDIOCANAL, leading entertainment company Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), and global content leader Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B) to develop the first multi-platform console and PC game based on “The Evil Dead,” “Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn,” and “Army of Darkness” films and the STARZ “Ash vs Evil Dead” television series.
