Surviving the Aftermath: Shattered Hope Out Now

Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios today released Shattered Hope, the second expansion for their survival colony builder, Surviving the Aftermath. This expansion builds upon the game’s world with the Shattered Moon calamity, adding both the ability to boost resource production and the task of maintaining survivors’ hope. Surviving the Aftermath: Shattered Hope is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC at a suggested retail price of 9.99 USD / 7.99 GBP / 9.99 EUR.

In Shattered Hope, the Moon is destroyed and pieces of it descend to the Earth’s surface. This disaster has a silver lining in the form of moon rock deposits, which can be gathered to increase resource production. Survivors must also come together to find hope to persevere, or else they will be plagued by anguish. Balance resources and survivors’ resolve in this human nature-centered expansion to Surviving the Aftermath’s colony management gameplay.

Surviving the Aftermath: Shattered Hope Key Features:

  • Face the Moonfall and use it to your advantage with the new Building Boost mechanic
The Moon is shattered in the sky and its fragments are crushing down on Earth leaving behind them devastation – but also moon rock deposits. You can refine lunar fragments and obtain lunar dust which will be used to increase the production of your buildings for a limited time. This new building boost mechanic is called overtime.
  • Keep your hopes up, and feast!
Hope is a new global value that decreases over time and when catastrophes happen in the game. If kept too low for too long, it will trigger a new condition called anguish that, if left untreated, may turn your colonists hostile. So, keep your hope as high as possible by holding feasts at the new colony square building.
  • New production chain: take care of your colonists
When colonists experience anguish, you can help them by building a trauma center where they will heal. They will recover faster thanks to a brand new medicine called antistress. To make it, you’ll have to grow raw resources on the mushroom farm, then refine them into the actual medicine in the med hut building.

The first two episodes of “Helix Station” are available now, with new episodes launching weekly in November wherever podcasts are available. “Helix Station” follows two of the most feared skip tracers in the Jovian system, Percy (Gwendoline Christie) and Kane (Michael Ironside), as they take on some of the most lucrative bounties in the region – from Ganymede and Io to Europa Station and all points in between. When the pair find their ship commandeered by Black Iron Prison officer Metzger (Kevin Durand), they soon find themselves ensnared in a once-in-a-lifetime job on Helix Station, a derelict metropolis that harbors dark secrets about the true nature of the United Jupiter Company.

“We’ve built a rich narrative around ‘The Callisto Protocol,’ and ‘Helix Station’ is a chance for fans to go deep with the United Jupiter Company and Black Iron Prison before the game comes out,” said Glen Schofield, CEO of Striking Distance Studios. “The cast did an amazing job bringing these characters to life, and we hope fans love this extension of ‘The Callisto Protocol.’”

“Helix Station” also features Sam Littlefield as Prendergast, Cassandra Blair as Tanaka, Leland Orser as Lennox, and Caitlin Kinnunen as Juniper.

Block and Emanuel also wrote the upcoming film REUNION, a murder mystery comedy starring Lil Rel Howery.

The show was produced by Tess Ryan and Gloria Bradbury, written by Gregory Thompson and Tex Gresham, and executive produced by Paula Chowles, Robert Capps, Willie Block, and Jake Emanuel. Sound design is by Samuel Plattner and Pacific Standard Sound, and the score was composed by Ryland Blackinton. The podcast was produced in conjunction with Godfrey Dadich Partners, and distributed in partnership with Stitcher Media and 1TWENTYFOUR, a division of IGN Entertainment, Inc.

Blood Bowl 3 Release Date Trailer

Fans of sport, fantasy and turn-based tactics: do a stadium wave for Blood Bowl 3! The madcap turn-based strategy game set in the Warhammer universe will be available on 23 February 2023 for PC, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

In the fantasy world of Warhammer, diplomacy is usually left on the sidelines in exchange for a more brutal approach to solving conflicts. And Blood Bowl is no different, but it takes place in a stadium, with a ball, and the number of casualties is usually lower. Under the patronage of the god Nuffle, two teams go head-to-head on a pitch similar to an American football field and try to score more touchdowns than their opponent.

In Blood Bowl 3, you take on the role of coach and build a team from one of the Blood Bowl factions, which includes humans, orcs, dwarfs, elves and other creatures from the Warhammer world. You manage and upgrade your team off the field, then control your players in turn-based matches by giving orders to each player: grab the ball, mark an opposing player, and of course, dish out some punches, whacks and thumps… in other words, knock down opponents so you can score some touchdowns.

Based on the latest edition of the legendary board game, Blood Bowl 3 is a fantastic virtual experience that beautifully complements the physical game. This edition adds a variety of new features, including dedicated passing statistics, a range of playing fields with their own gameplay rules, coaches, multiple cheerleaders, and exciting Star Players.

And, of course, everyone’s favourite dynamic duo Jim and Bob are back giving their signature play-by-play commentary for every action on the field, whether it’s a tactical move or brutal tackle.

At launch, the game will feature 12 factions, including 4 playable for the first time in a Blood Bowl video game. Each faction has its own unique characteristics and related content. There are also single-player and multiplayer modes as well as more customization options than ever before. Follow us on our social media channels to ensure you don’t miss any news!

Men of War II Dev Diary #2

Fulqrum Publishing and Best Way today released the second instalment of the Men of War II dev diary video series, in which Andrey Geleta, Game Designer at Best Way, details some of the exciting gameplay, tech, and other innovations that players can expect in the highly-anticipated RTS follow-up.

Built using a significantly redesigned and modified Gem RTS engine, Men of War II will give players much more freedom than previous instalments in the franchise, allowing them to tailor the experience to their own personal playstyles, while enhancing the battlefield with dynamic new features which have been brought to life with new high-resolution (up-to 4K) effects, animations, and immersive sound design.

One new feature is the ‘Frontline’, which divides the entire map into two parts – the territory that belongs to the allies and the territory that is occupied by the enemy. This is constantly in flux, and can dramatically influence the course of events since players will have access to different options and abilities based on which side of the ‘Front Line’ their units are on. AI has also been enhanced and balanced in line with the new mechanics, ensuring that it will intelligently counter the player, giving a deeply satisfying gameplay experience.

Multiplayer modes have been completely overhauled and almost entirely rebuilt from scratch, bringing a suite of options to the game, including tournaments, leagues, personal ratings, customisable lobbies, dedicated servers and more. One key addition is auto-reconnect, that will return players to the battle if they experience any connection issues.

Competitive matchups can be played in a variety of modes from 1v1 to 5v5 – the latter of which will emphasise teamwork, as each player will have their own specialisation depending on their choice of battalion. For example, one may focus on infantry, another on tanks, and a third in artillery. Furthermore, all battalions have been perfectly balanced to make every multiplayer battle unique.

Mod support also returns to Men of War II, which will ship with its own unique set of mod tools, giving players the opportunity to flex their creativity as they create anything they wish.
