IO Interactive Celebrates 25th Anniversary

IO Interactive, the independent video game developer and publisher behind, among others, the internationally acclaimed HITMAN franchise and the upcoming Project 007, a James Bond origin story, and Project Fantasy, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. A dedicated website will take fans on a trip down memory lane back to the creation of the studio on September 16th, 1998, offering unique insights to IO Interactive’s culture and how its heritage is shaping its future.

There is a lot to celebrate, both from the past and the present. IO Interactive and their teams are continually unleashing their creativity into every game they take on. Their next steps involve the addition of new content in Hitman: World of Assassination as well as a look back at one of the most popular games of the HITMAN franchise, Hitman: Blood Money.

A series of events to celebrate in Hitman: World of Assassination

Players are invited to join the celebrations and enjoy a long list of in-game events. Two Elusive Target Missions, Bad Boy and The Food Critic, will return to the game, available between October 13th and 23rd and October 20th and 30th respectively.

Hitman: World of Assassination will also offer new challenges and cool suits to its players throughout the month of October. Notably, The Mills Reverie Halloween Event will be back on October 26th. Starting on the same day, the Codename 47 challenge will allow fans to unlock a retro skin and suit for Agent 47. On October 27th, livestream fans will be able to unlock an exclusive Purple Streak Suit as a Twitch drop while watching their favourite content creators.

Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal available on Android, iOS and Switch later this year

Hitman: Blood Money, the game that tied Agent 47’s origin story to his confrontations with the Franchise, a rival organization to his handlers at the International Contract Agency, has already been remastered and ported on many platforms throughout the years since its release in 2006. Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal, a new version of the game developed and published by Feral Interactive, in partnership with IO Interactive, will soon be launching on Android, iOS devices and on Nintendo Switch.

IO Interactive wants to offer a gaming experience for all players, new and old. Those already familiar with Hitman: Blood Money will get a chance to relive the game on the go, whilst new players to the IP can experience the famous high stakes infiltration gameplay first-hand. Hitman: Blood Money Reprisal will be releasing this Autumn on iOS and Android devices, with the Switch release following this winter.

The latest Elusive Target Mission is about to drop

Players of Hitman: World of Assassination will get to enjoy the next Elusive Target Mission: The Drop on October 27th. They will be tasked with eliminating an international DJ-turned-drug lord, modelled on the appearance of world-renowned DJ Dimitri Vegas.

For a limited time, players will get to take part in the unique do-or-die contract. It will be up to them to find the numerous ways to get Agent 47 to infiltrate a Berlin club and eliminate the threat posed by the double-faced musician.

The Strangers Trilogy First-Look Images

Here are some first look images from The Strangers Trilogy. From master director Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2, The Exorcist: The Beginning) comes a new trilogy of terror. In Chapter I, Madelaine Petsch (TV’s “Riverdale”) stars as a young woman starting a new life with her fiancé. Suddenly, during a road trip stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason. Scene Investigators Release Date Trailer

EQ Studies is thrilled to announce the release date for their true crime-inspired, deductive investigation game, Scene Investigators! Players will be able to put on their detective hats and examine evidence at a variety of murder scenes to uncover the truth on October 24th. Scene Investigators will be available on Steam for $24.99 USD and offers 8.5 immersive crime scenes to explore at launch.

The game is tailored to fans of detective films, the true crime genre, escape room puzzles, and especially for those who love the challenge of solving cases. Players will step into re-created crime scenes, observe closely for pieces of evidence, hypothesize possible motives behind the crimes, and use deductive reasoning to uncover what truly happened.

Watch the brand-new release date announcement trailer for a closer look at the investigative gameplay:

Set in the near future, you play as a trainee in pursuit of becoming a licensed investigator. Presented with a set of reconstructed case files that border between challenging and perplexing, your goal is to solve them and pass the test. Your only tools are your keen perception, astute thinking, and mental acuity. Can you solve them all?

Scene Investigators is a deductive reasoning game that leans heavily on keen observation, filling in the missing gaps, looking for motives when they aren’t there, and coming up with several plausible assumptions to progress through the investigation. It’s a different type of murder investigation game from the same developers who created The Painscreek Killings; it is less about story and more about deduction.

Features:

  • “True Crime” Detective Experience – Players must observe each scene carefully and analyze everything. They will take note of anything that stands out and write down suspicions as they navigate through the crime scenes. There are no hints or hand-holding, so they must use logic and intuition to solve each case.
  • Immersive Murder Mystery Puzzles – Piece everything together, not only to understand what happened but also the connection between the perpetrators and their victims. The only tools are keen perception, mental sharpness, and real-life wisdom.
  • 70/30 Principle: Hypothesis Testing – Players may find that some evidence is missing, limiting them from making the best conclusion. There might be 70% of the evidence in the case, but the other 30% is nowhere to be found. This is where they have to fill in the missing gaps, trust gut feelings, and make smart, calculated assumptions.
  • Uncover Narrative Through the Environment – Notice the pink lipstick on the wine glass? What about the trajectory of the bullet on the wall? How about the faint size-12 boot marks on the windowsill? These are part of the environmental clues that can help piece the story together.
  • Collaborate with Friends – While this is a singleplayer game, the deduction gameplay is great for streaming to fans or couch co-op gaming.
  • Localized in 10 Languages – Players all over the world can experience the mystery in English, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, French, and Spanish (Spain).

High On Life High On Knife DLC Out Now

Squanch Games’ High On Knife DLC is available today, giving High On Life fans an all-new adventure filled with laughs, scares, and a completely fictional story about how the convenience of same-day shipping inevitably normalizes corporate surveillance, reducing entire segments of a sentient population to box-flinging commodities – all for the sake of convenience. Plus, two all-new talking guns!

High On Knife is essentially a big new bonus episode set after the events of High On Life’s campaign. Your bounty-hunting hero comes home from adventuring, only to find a missed-package slip for a delivery meant for your knife companion, Knifey. Knifey convinces you to head to his home planet to pick up this mysterious package, and then a bunch of stuff happens. Funny stuff. And spooky stuff!

High On Knife features (amazing!) all-new performances from a variety of well-known actors and comedians, including:

  • Gabourey Sidibe (American Horror Story, Precious) as Mux, the sinister (and foul-mouthed) head of intergalactic shipping titan Muxxalon

  • Sarah Sherman (Saturday Night Live) as Harper, a chatty ex-military pistol with a dark origin story

  • Alec Robbins (Squanch’s head writer) as BALL, a new pinball-inspired gun operated cooperatively by a trio of gibberish-spewing little guys

  • Ken Marino (Party Down, The State) as an alien parasite that is going to be a part of your bounty hunter’s mission. Look, it’s going to attach itself to you, OK?

  • Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends, High On Life), reprising his role as Knifey

High On Life’s High On Knife DLC is now available for $14.99 on PC via Steam, the Xbox app, and Epic Games Store; Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; and PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Players who don’t own High On Life ($39.99) can purchase a bundle with the base game and High On Knife for $49.99 on PC via Steam and Xbox Game Pass; Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; and PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Xbox Game Pass subscribers on PC and console can purchase an exclusive Xbox Game Pass Bundle, which includes High On Life and High On Knife for $19.99.

High On Life follows the misadventures of an unmotivated high-school graduate who becomes Earth’s last hope following an alien invasion. These interstellar invaders are on a constant search for their next intoxicating experience, and, unfortunately, they discover that humans provide an exquisite high. The only solution is to become a bounty hunter, tracking down the kingpins in the alien cartel to stop their horrifying harvest. It makes sense in context, OK?!

Stephen L. Russell Joins Blood West

The team at Hyperstrange is excited to announce that the iconic voice actor Stephen L. Russell joins the cast as the game’s playable marauder! Stealth, horror, immersive sim, and FPS all combine to make an interesting package, made even more special by a legendary addition. Let the man himself speak to you about his role in this nightmare and catch a new look at the final chapter of Blood West:

The next part of Blood West’s story is coming up later this year when the full game launches on December 5. It will be your time to explore the mountains as our cursed gunslinger, a region even deadlier than the mines and the swamp. New monstrosities show their face for the first time today, hoping your bones rattle with anticipation.

Stephen L. Russel is known for his stellar work as Garrett in the Thief games, Corvo in Dishonored 2, and Nick Valentine in Fallout 4. His voice adds a new layer to the wicked scenarios of Blood West, where our gunslinger will be heard commenting on the many trinkets, contraptions and messed-up looking beings he encounters. “With elements of challenging gameplay and stealth mechanics, I am thrilled to be part of it. And I hope you will be too!”, says Stephen in a new announcement video.

Blood West is an immersive wild west FPS where, as a revenant desperado, you take on the twisted demons and eldritch horrors, while you search for the means to end the curse that has befallen the frontier, and maybe find some peace for your wicked soul. One quest after another, the spirits of the land will lead you towards even greater challenges. And whatever your path may be – things will get rough. For hell is empty and all the devils are here!

With an overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam by players during its Early Access phase, with over 1,600 reviews and counting, Blood West is set to expand into its third and final chapter when it launches on December 5, 2023 and is currently available for $14.99 USD / 12.49€ / £11.49.
