The teaser trailer and poster for a truly terrifying cinematic experience from producer Ridley Scott and director/writer Fede Alvarez, 20th Century Studios’ “Alien: Romulus,” is here! “Alien: Romulus” opens exclusively in theaters nationwide August 16, 2024.

The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe. The film stars Cailee Spaeny (“Priscilla”), David Jonsson (“Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy”), Archie Renaux (“Shadow and Bone”), Isabela Merced (“The Last of Us”), Spike Fearn (“Aftersun”), Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. “Alien: Romulus” is produced by Ridley Scott (“Napoleon”), who directed the original “Alien” and produced and directed the series’ entries “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”), and Walter Hill (“Alien”), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”) serving as executive producers.

Disney fans around the world will once again gather in Anaheim, California, on August 9, 10, and 11, 2024, for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, a one-of-a-kind experience showcasing the very best in creative storytelling and innovation from across The Walt Disney Company. This year, D23 has been revamped to be more expansive and more immersive than ever before, offering fans access to more of what they love from across the worlds of Disney at an amazing value. With returning fan favorites and new surprises, this extraordinary event will feature three days of marquee showcases and presentations, an expanded show floor with the latest from Disney brands and partners, increased shopping opportunities, and a week-long celebration of Disney fandom leading up to the event. Today, Disney shared a sneak peek at programming, logistics, ticketing, and D23 Member benefits in anticipation for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. D23 also debuted the key art for the event featuring Sorcerer Mickey, a nod to the very first event in 2009.

EVENT PROGRAMMING

Honda Center
This year D23 is introducing a new venue for some of the programming, allowing bigger shows with more magic to the biggest audience of Disney fans in the world. For the first time ever, the Honda Center will be home to three nights of marquee showcases. Friday night will begin with the star-studded Disney Entertainment Showcase, featuring exclusive looks at the movies, series, and stage shows fans love and a glimpse of what’s next. Saturday night will showcase Disney Experiences, featuring the latest on new and highly anticipated projects in development around the world for Disney parks, experiences, and beyond. The weekend will conclude Sunday evening with a special ceremony to celebrate the 2024 class of Disney Legends, hosted by Ryan Seacrest. This year, the Walt Disney Archives is honoring Colleen Atwood, Angela Bassett, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa, Joe Rohde, and John Williams.

D23 Day at the Disneyland® Resort
Before the magic of Disney comes to life during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, guests can kick off the weekend’s festivities at the first-ever D23 Day at the Disneyland Resort on Thursday, August 8. Disneyland Resort will welcome D23 fans from rope drop to late night featuring unique offerings for fans including a custom cavalcade and an energetic dance party at Disneyland Park, and special photo opportunities, specialty foods, themed merchandise, and more at both parks. Show Floor
The Anaheim Convention Center will once again showcase the best of Disney storytelling and innovation with an immersive and expanded show floor full of great experiences and activities for all ages. Fan-favorites will return including pavilions from Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney+, Marvel Studios, Disney Experiences, Lucasfilm, and a first-of-its-kind exhibition from the Walt Disney Archives entitled “A Great Big Beautiful Car Show.”

Fans can take advantage of great shopping opportunities including a dedicated space to shop and experience limited-edition merchandise and collectibles. Other fan-favorite shopping destinations will return including Mickey’s of Glendale, The Hollywood Studio Store, and The Emporium. Plus, The Walt Disney Company Store will make its debut and feature exclusive D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event branded products.

Guests will also have the opportunity to attend specially curated shows, panels, and presentations, along with conversations with storytellers, creators, and talent. The first ever D23 Day at Angel Stadium will take place on Sunday, August 4, as the stadium comes to life with D23 fun. The first 23,000 fans through the gate will receive a commemorative and one-of-a-kind D23 Mickey Mouse bobblehead.

Out of the city, onto the highway: In the course of PAX East starting this week, publisher astragon Entertainment and developer Aesir Interactive are pleased to announce the Highway Patrol Expansion for Police Simulator: Patrol Officers which will be available in Summer 2024 for PC, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series S|X and Xbox One with a new trailer! The Highway Patrol Expansion for Police Simulator: Patrol Officers extends the game map beyond Brighton’s borders, opening up driveways to the bustling Brighton highway district and introducing new tasks like high speed monitoring, cargo checks on trucks, and highway assistance. However, with the highways open, car thefts surge, leading to thrilling chases and tactical maneuvers. Equipped with the new spike strips and roadblocks, officers have even more tools to stop fleeing criminals which are particularly helpful when playing with two players in multiplayer mode. LEGO Unveils DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Red Dragon’s Tale set

Today the LEGO Group unveils the LEGO® Ideas DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Red Dragon’s Tale set, a fan-designed brick representation of the iconic table-top game. Released in the year DUNGEONS & DRAGONS turns 50, this is the first time the LEGO Group has developed a DUNGEONS & DRAGONS set and to do so they turned to their fans to create the design, via a challenge on the LEGO Ideas platform.

Based on a brief co-developed by the Wizards of the Coast team, over 600 LEGO fans submitted DUNGEONS & DRAGONS inspired designs, but the winner was 32-year-old Lucas Bolt (known as BoltBuilds) from Amsterdam who created his version of the game in LEGO bricks. Lucas then worked closely with LEGO Design team, to develop the unique setting represented in the final set. In addition, the Wizards of the Coast team developed a bespoke adventure for the set.

The 3,745-piece set is incredibly detailed featuring a tavern with a removable roof, so you can see inside to the upper level. The set also features a dungeon and a tower. Also included are six LEGO minifigures – Orc Rogue, Gnome Fighter, Elf Wizard and Dwarf Cleric, plus brick-built monsters, such as a beholder, an owlbear and a displacer beast. Also featured is the giant Cinderhowl red dragon that builders can wrap around the tower.

The LEGO Group also turned to their fan community on the LEGO Ideas platform, giving them a chance to design the cover of the set’s building instructions. The winning design by Chris Yu features an epic battle using techniques to create depth in the image while showcasing good against evil centered around the iconic 20-sided die that’s set to determine the outcome. Chris’ design was a celebration of the game’s core values of collaboration, creativity, and adventure.

In celebration of the new set, the LEGO Group invited well-known DUNGEONS & DRAGONS players to LEGO House for an epic game night. Anjali Bhimani took the chair as the Dungeon Master and was joined by Luis Carazo and Ginny Di, as well as fan designer Lucas and LEGO Designer Jordan Scott, who all participated in an epic adventure on a very special custom-made LEGO DUNGEONS & DRAGONS table. Recorded live, fans can now watch all the action when the game premieres on LEGO.com/DnD and the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS YouTube and Twitch channels on April 6 at 12:00 EDT.

Fans can also get a specially created DUNGEONS & DRAGONS adventure book, created in partnership by Wizards of the Coast and the LEGO Group, to offer a completely new and unique play experience. Available for LEGO Insiders as a free digital download, or as a paperback book for 2,700 Insider points (whilst stocks last). The book is also available at D&D Beyond along with character sheets, a digital dice and more.

Commenting on his inspiration for the design, Lucas, said, “The DUNGEONS & DRAGONS theme combined with my love of history, fantasy and making games, inspired me to create a playable layout with different challenges and routes to explore. I had so much fun designing this piece, and it is a real privilege seeing my design developed into a detailed LEGO set to celebrate 50 years of the iconic game.”

In relation to bringing Lucas’ design to life, LEGO Design Manager, Jordan Scott, said “Lucas’ design perfectly captured the storytelling excitement of any DUNGEONS & DRAGONS game. Working with the Wizards of the Coast team, we were able to build on his design to co create a truly authentic DUNGEONS & DRAGONS experience full of details that will excite fans through the building process and beyond.”

Cities: Skylines II Modding Dev Diary

Today, Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive released the first of three dev diaries covering the official Paradox Mods integration coming to Cities: Skylines II’s modding beta on March 25th. This deep dive covers the in-game browsing, installing, and playset management for both PC and console players.

Creators can easily upload mods, add metadata like descriptions and screenshots, and even enable discussions – all synced across platforms. While local mods are supported too, Paradox’s cloud services ensure a player’s curated playset experiences remain available wherever they play. Overall, the experience is accessible and intuitive for players, allowing them to easily install and access mods to change up their game experience.

Today’s gameplay looks to the looming threat that has Wild Bastards’ misfit outlaws on the run as they test an arsenal of futuristic weaponry against devious extraterrestrial threats spanning multiple planets. The footage debuts two new characters, each brimming with eccentric bravado reminiscent of Wild Bastards’ full roster, along with weapons and never-before-shown areas. Wild Bastards finds its lawbreakers hunted and nearly eradicated by Jebediah Chaste, a ruthlessly puritanical magnate. After killing all but two of the Bastards, Jebediah’s final targets are miraculously saved by a mysterious, sentient spaceship known as The Drifter. The Bastards are fleeing an unwinnable standoff, exploring an ever-changing and lawless galaxy rife with precious weapons and spoils, as well as grisly fates, in a grand attempt to resurrect their compatriots while living to steal another day.

While working to demystify The Drifter’s intentions in saving them, amass a gang of 13 playable and uniquely talented criminals, managing the relationships between them and guiding their growth. Juggle injuries and feuds while plotting a path through the galaxy, exploring and fleecing planets and, of course, shooting anyone or anything who gets in the way. Prevailing through Wild Bastards’ campaign also unlocks a Challenge Mode which adds modifiers and a steadily ramping challenge to keep outlaws on their toes.

Wild Bastards will be present and playable at Day of the Devs 2024: San Francisco Edition on March 17th at The Midway, San Francisco, CA from 3-8pm and on the GDC show floor in the Day of the Devs station from March 18-22. The onsite demo will also be available at MIX’s GDC press event Monday, March 18th at Terra Gallery, San Francisco, CA from 8-11pm.

POOHNIVERSE: MONSTERS ASSEMBLE Announced in The Twisted Childhood Universe

From Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios, the makers of Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey 1 & 2, bring you a new cinematic world titled The Twisted Childhood Universe. The new chilling cinematic universe will feature previously announced stand-alone films Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare and Pinocchio Unstrung and introduce new characters such as Sleeping Beauty, The Mad Hatter, and Rabbit from Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey. All of these characters will culminate in the upcoming film POOHNIVERSE: MONSTERS ASSEMBLE in 2025 when the monsters join forces to takedown the world.

Producer of Jagged Edge Productions Rhys Frake-Waterfield explains, “It will be complete carnage. We are heavily influenced by Freddy Vs Jason and The Avengers. We would love to see a horror movie where the villains group together and are going after their survivors. We have some incredible set pieces in mind and some sequences I think will truly shock people. The movies we are working on now as stand alones are all building towards POOHNIVERSE: MONSTERS ASSEMBLE.”

Scott Chambers, Producer of Jagged Edge Production, adds “Similar to The Avengers we will follow Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, The Mad Hatter, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell joining forces to wreak havoc. We are working with a larger scale budget on this one and are excited for what the future will hold. When you see the stand alone movies you will see the easter eggs hinting toward the crossover. Some of the villains also will not see eye to eye which will allow for some carnage within the group in some epic sequence of monster vs monster.”

Rhys Frake-Waterfield is set to direct. Casting is to include Scott Chambers returning as Christopher Robin, Megan Plactio as Wendy Darling, Roxanne Mckee as Xana, Lewis Santer as Tigger. More casting announcements to come. Stuart Alson and Nicole Holland serve as Executive Producers.
