The Bloody Dozen Brings Us Space Vampires this December

The #1 New York Times bestselling author Charles Soule (Hell to Pay, Eight Billion Genies) teams up with superstar artist Alberto Jiménez Alburquerque (Letter 44, The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Venom: Funeral Pyre) for an all-new tale of thrilling terror in the upcoming The Bloody Dozen. This six issue miniseries will join Hell to Pay as the newest installment of Soule and Will Sliney’s supernatural horror/adventure saga “The Shrouded College” and is set to launch in December from Image Comics.

In The Bloody Dozen, three down-and-out astronauts are tasked with the ultimate heist: springing a clan of deadly vampires from a space prison orbiting the Sun. Apollo 13 meets Blade in this killer thriller!

“The Bloody Dozen is the second Shrouded College story, which can be read independently of the first (Hell to Pay), but builds on the overarching narrative that will be told across the seven planned stories in the Shrouded College universe,” said Soule in an exclusive scoop on the announcement at Popverse.“The Bloody Dozen—like all the Shrouded College stories—is inspired by horror-action of the ’90s and ’00s—films like Blade or Event Horizon or Prophecy. The ‘just smart enough’ stories which build off a kickass hook and then deliver great action and adventure and scares. The basic premise of the Shrouded College is that ordinary people are given magic abilities and then tasked to complete supernatural ‘impossible missions’—and The Bloody Dozen gives us a doozy. I’m particularly excited to be reunited with my Letter 44 collaborator Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque for the interior art—no one draws space terror better!”

The debut issue of The Bloody Dozen will feature cover art by Hell to Pay artist/co-creator Sliney, as well as a special 1:50 variant cover that comes with its own individually-numbered, limited-edition “challenge coin,” designed by Sliney in the style of a NASA mission patch.

“It’s class to see the Shrouded College universe expand with The Bloody Dozen,” said Sliney. “Alberto’s pages are fun, gorgeous and when they need to be, terrifying. While Charles and Alberto are up in Space with Bloody Dozen, I’m hidden away in a secret location working on another installment. In fact, you can see our road map here with these interlinked coins.”

Series artist Alberto Jiménez Albuquerque said of joining the Shrouded College universe for this mission: “It’s been years since Charles and I started talking about this project. Ever since, it has changed and evolved in several ways but my commitment to work with Charles again has remained intact since we finished Letter 44. And it’s paid off! This series has it all. Magic, space travel, steampunk and, of course, vampires. I have to thank Charles and Will for including me in this saga and allowing me to create and expand on their universe. I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be epic!”

Soule and Sliney’s “The Shrouded College” is an interconnected set of seven adventure/horror stories that will be published in comic and graphic novel formats over the next several years. Taken together, they tell the stories of various characters enlisted to become secret agents fighting a supernatural cold war on the side of the Shrouded College, a down-and-out organization on the edge of destruction. An exclusive scoop via DEADLINE announced that “The Shrouded College is in the works as a TV series after Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door and UCP secured the rights. The project is set up at Peacock…[Soule and Sliney] will exec produce the project alongside MacFarlane, Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald for Fuzzy Door.”

The Bloody Dozen #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, December 13:

  • Cover A by Sliney – Lunar Code 1023IM256
  • Cover B by Jiménez Alburquerque – Lunar Code 1023IM257
  • Cover C (1:10 copy incentive) by Sliney – Lunar Code 1023IM258
  • Cover D (1:50 copy incentive) by Sliney – Lunar Code 1023IM259

The Bloody Dozen will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play

The Troop Release Date Trailer

PLA Studios and Giant Flame are delighted to announce that their turn-based tactical game The Troop will be rolling out of early access on October 10, 2023. The historically-accurate World War II title has actively responded to a wealth of player feedback since it launched into Early Access in 2021, and will include a host of new features with its full launch on PC.

On the morning of the 6th June 1944 the Western Allies began the largest seaborne invasion in the history of warfare. D-Day would mark the start of a vicious campaign to wrestle North West Europe from German control. The following months would see the ancient fields, farms and villages serve as a battleground for new, lethal weapons that would become legendary.

Born from a lifelong passion for World War II history and turn-based games, The Troop follows the campaign of British and Canadian forces as they face the German Heer and SS in Normandy. Take command of infantry, motorised and armoured units in desperate tactical turn-based combat against an AI opponent that is challenging and unpredictable, but fair and fallible.

The Troop embraces the best traditions of classic tabletop war gaming combined with the interactivity and excitement the digital format affords. You have complete control over your units’ actions; tanks will not expose their weak side armour with unexpected pathing, hidden guns will not reveal their positions by firing prematurely, infantry will not flee inexplicably when victory is a few heroic paces away. You are free to take your time… but any mistakes are yours and yours alone!

Tom Page, Studio Director, PLA Studios, said:
“Development of The Troop has been a real labour of love for our small and passionate team, and we are excited to finally share the full game with strategy enthusiasts. Following our extensive early access period, we are delighted to reveal that the full release of The Troop will include a host of optional rule settings including overwatch and bocage shooting as well as the highly-requested Campaign mode featuring four campaigns.”

In fact, the fans have been so crucial to the development of The Troop that some of the powerful in-game ace units are named after the game’s most dedicated supporters.

Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village Coming to iPhone 15 Pro

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, has announced Resident Evil™ 4 and Resident Evil™ Village are coming to the newly revealed iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max this year. This marks the first time these best-selling titles from the iconic survival horror franchise will be natively available on a smartphone, thanks to the power of A17 Pro. The critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 will also release for iPad and Mac, along with Resident Evil Village on iPad, in 2023.

Both games deliver stunning graphics with fidelity that parallels the latest consoles and support HDR for incredible realism. With support for a wide array of game controllers plus multi-touch with on-screen controls, players can customize their gameplay experience.

Available on the App Store later this year, both games support cross-progression1, so players’ progress is synced across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. With a free download, players can experience high-end gameplay with stunning graphics before accessing the full game with just one in-app purchase.2

Resident Evil 4 will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and every iPad and Mac with the M1 chip or later. Resident Evil Village will be available on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPad Air, and iPad Pro with the M1 chip or later. This joins Resident Evil Village and its Winter’s Expansion, which are currently available on Mac. Look for both titles on the App Store as Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil™ Village for iOS.

Steam Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Steam launched twenty years ago today, on September 12, 2003. To celebrate, we’re going back to the original army green for the day and putting all Valve titles on sale!

We couldn’t help but throw in a bit more fun, and in an effort to make us all feel super old put together a fun walk down Steam and pop culture memory lane. You’ll find historical factoids from Steam and Valve along with important broader milestones like, memes and stuff.

We’re also highlighting the games that were the top releases on Steam from each year, and many of those games are joining the party with discounts of their own! And we’re hoping you enjoy the new art sprinkled throughout (and featured in a couple of free new stickers).

Steam would not exist without the developers and players around the world who are on it, and it is your feedback over the years that has and will continue to help us make it even better. We can’t say thank you enough, and look forward to working together with you all in the many years to come!
