Knott’s Berry Farm Announces 2nd Annual For the Cure Promotion

knottspink

Buena Park, CA (December 2014) –  Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County are working together, for the second year, to raise money for breast cancer awareness, services and research by offering a special “Pink Ticket” and limited edition specially designed “pink” merchandise from January 5 through March 27.

“We are honored to continue such a successful partnership with Knott’s Berry Farm,” said Lisa Wolter, executive director of Komen Orange County. “Without the ongoing support from our community, local access to breast health and breast cancer services for women and men would be nearly impossible. Knott’s gives us the opportunity to not only reach a diverse population, but to continue saving lives.”

Studies show that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. The breast cancer mortality rate in Orange County is the highest among Latinas, despite this population having the lowest incidence rate. Komen Orange County works with the Latina community – through its Unidos Contra el Cancer de Seno Coalition – by providing strong and effective breast health engagement and support groups with multi-lingual volunteers. Komen Orange County also fosters ongoing partnerships with Northgate Gonzalez Markets and Cafecitos, a Spanish support group, to bring education, outreach and free mammograms to the Latina population.

The three month long promotion will provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy Knott’s world class entertainment, attractions and specially-themed “pink” décor, while supporting a great cause. The famous Calico Mine Ride, Knott’s Berry Farm Main Gate and the Camp Snoopy waterfall will all glow pink in honor of the campaign.  Starting January 5, through March 27, guests can purchase “Pink Tickets” for theme park admission only online at www.knotts.com. A portion of the “Pink Tickets” proceeds will benefit Komen Orange County.

In 2014, the successful two-month partnership with Komen Orange County helped raise nearly $100,000 for the organization. The monies raised provided underserved and underinsured women and men in Orange County with access to breast health care and services.  Additional fundraising efforts included the sale of discounted “Pink Tickets” and “Knott’s for the Cure” memorabilia as well as employee fundraising initiatives.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, the parent organization of Knott’s Berry Farm, has raised nearly $1 million for Susan G. Komen in the last five years. This is the second year the partnership will directly impact awareness and services on a local level within Orange County.

Guests entering the theme park during the time of the promotion will be greeted by a beautifully themed pink Knott’s Berry Farm for the Cure display along with inspirational testimonials by breast cancer survivors. Additionally, limited edition “pink” t-shirts and specially designed canteens will be available for purchase. A portion of the “pink” merchandise proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen Orange County.

“During the Knott’s Berry Farm for the Cure partnership, guests can honor loved ones,” said Raffi Kaprelyan, vice president and general manager of Knott’s Berry Farm. “The partnership between Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County is an impactful one, as the two organizations come together to advance women’s health by raising money and awareness to fight breast cancer.”

Star Conflict Season 2 Info, Holiday Celebration, and More

StarConflict_NewYear

December 22, 2014 — StarGem Inc. and Gaijin Entertainment are celebrating Star Conflict players this season with special in-game events and achievements, as well as a selection of new decals and skins to spruce up their space ships for the holidays. Players can also take advantage of up to 50% off items in the store to equip their ships and gear up for the new content coming to Season 2 in January, which includes, most notably, the formidable Dreadnought. For more information about the Season 2 content update and to take advantage of the holiday sale, visit: http://star-conflict.com/en/store/

The Season 2 update expands on the Alien Invasion storyline released in September. The second invasion wave pitches Star Conflict players against a treacherous Cyborgs faction in addition to Aliens. New enemies already available in Star Conflict with Season 2 are Defilers, giant alien spaceships that can only be destroyed by groups of up to 12 players during raid-missions, and Hunters, a new alien type that is invulnerable to every weapon. To combat the Hunters, players must search the far reaches of space to find iridium to help scientists develop a new weapon to take them down.

The introduction of Dreadnought class ships after the holidays will signify interesting new challenges for Sector Conquest, and introduces new E-Sport opportunities for 2015.

Players can learn more about Season 2 in Star Conflict and start playing by visiting: http://star-conflict.com/

“Season 2 is an exciting phase in Star Conflict. Not only do players have to worry about PvP attacks in the free to explore environment, but now they must also go up against new enemy types. And this time, it involves everyone: Outer Space is now open for all pilots, starting from the first rank. With the addition of Dreadnoughts after the holidays, these huge spaceships will add another dimension to intergalactic combat. And we believe that all changes will provide a broader, richer experience for Star Conflict players”, said Stanislav Scorb, Director of StarGem, Inc.
