FREMONT, Calif. – September 22, 2014 – Corsair®, a leader in PC hardware, today launched Corsair Gaming, a new division within the company dedicated to the elevation of PC gaming and the development of high-performance PC peripherals. Forged from Corsair’s engineering know-how and developed alongside eSports professionals and gaming enthusiasts, Corsair Gaming products are driven by a philosophy of performance, style, and comfort.  Corsair Gaming’s first salvo is the immediate worldwide release of the much-anticipated range of RGB keyboards and mice.

“For 20 years, Corsair has equipped gamers with high-performance, precision hardware to build their dream PCs.  Corsair Gaming now introduces new ways for PC gamers to optimize how they play,” said Andy Paul, Corsair President and CEO. “We’ve brought together our engineering expertise and our passion for gaming to build a line of products that delivers performance, customized for however you play.”

K95 RGB, K70 RGB, and K65 Gaming Keyboards

With their color-customizable, 16.8 million color backlighting, the K95 RGB, K70 RGB, and K65 RGB are the headliners of the Corsair Gaming brand. All three keyboards use only German-made Cherry MX RGB mechanical key switches as part of an exclusive-to-launch partnership with Cherry.

Each key switch is built with the exacting precision of Cherry’s self-cleaning, corrosion-proof Gold-Crosspoint electrical contacts, and with over five billion sold, Cherry MX mechanical key switches are the premier choice of professional gamers and enthusiasts who demand uncompromising reliability and performance.  Combined with Corsair Gaming’s distinctive aircraft-grade aluminum baseplate, Cherry MX RGB key switches deliver a professional-level gaming keyboard that ensures both consistency and accuracy with the touch of every key.

Powerful Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software enables the creation of unlimited lighting effects and macros, from solid colors that can highlight key groupings, to smooth gradients, dramatic waves and captivating ripple patterns. These customization options let gamers match their PC system lighting, find gaming keys faster, and provide critical visual feedback for executing in-game objectives.

Corsair Gaming understands that gamers demand choice when it comes to their hardware, so the K95, K70,  and K65 RGBs cater to your every need – including size. All three support complete macro programmability on any key, with the K95 RGB offering an additional array of 18 dedicated macro keys and dedicated media-keys. EVGA Reveals GTX 970 and 980 GPUs

evga-gtx-980

September 19th, 2014 — The EVGA GeForce GTX 980/970 are the world’s most advanced GPUs. Powered by next-generation NVIDIA Maxwell architecture, it delivers incredible performance, unmatched power efficiency, and cutting-edge features like NVIDIA Super Resolution Technology. With up to twice the performance of prior-generation cards and breakthrough graphics technologies, the EVGA GeForce GTX 980/970 provides an elite gaming experience on virtual reality, HD, and ultra-resolution 4K displays.

EVGA ACX 2.0 – The World’s Most Efficient Air Cooler

Most graphics card manufacturers only focus on one aspect when designing their cooling solution and neglect all other aspects of the fan design and heatsink. With EVGA ACX 2.0, we focused on the details that make a real difference, not just marketing jargon.

In fact, did you know that the power consumption of a fan can directly affect your overclocking ability? Modern NVIDIA graphics cards have a maximum power ceiling that takes into account the fan power consumption, meaning the lower the power consumption from the fan, the more power available for the GPU! Triple fan coolers from competitors increase power consumption, thereby lowering your maximum overclocking headroom. When it comes to graphics cards cooling, less is more!

Back to basics for improved efficiency.

We did a full redesign on the motor, from improved magnets, to changing how the internals are designed to help reduce acoustic noise from the fan. Furthermore we also increased the fan blade count, which creates higher pressure allowing the heatsink and fan to cool better without needing to increase the motor speed and increase noise levels. This will help reduce the temperatures of the card and keep the fan noise down, increasing the lifespan of the card; all of this frees up additional power for overclocking.

Fan Blade Quality

  • 11 fan blades increase CFM and static pressure
  • Swept Fan Design to Reduce Fan Noise Level
  • Low Profile

Fan Motor Quality

  • Improved magnets allow for 150RPM max increase
  • 3 Phase / 6 Slot Design Improves Efficiency
  • Increased Silicon Steel increases magnet strength

What this means to you

  • 26% Lower GPU Temperature*
  • 36% Quieter*
  • 250% Lower Fan Power Consumption*
  • 400% Longer Lifespan**

*vs reference cooler

**vs competitor dual fan cooling solution

Knotts Scary Farm Scare School Preview Event

knotts-scare-school-202 copy

We were invited to attend a special “scare school” preview event at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA as they prepared for their Knott’s Scary Farm haunted attraction. We had the chance to tour a couple of their haunted houses while talent perfected their techniques (sans costumes and masks) as well as toured the wardrobe and makeup rooms, where we even caught a brief makeup demonstration. A brief stop in the action allowed us time to sample food from the very tasty Knott’s Berry Farm food truck – which you will be able to find parked over near the event’s new haunted house, Voodoo. Finally, we were shown around Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town area by Ted Dougherty, Knott’s historian and author of the book ‘Knott’s Halloween Haunt: A Picture History’. Despite the very hot and humid Southern California weather, we really liked what we saw and are looking forward to attending the park’s opening night on September 25, 2014.

Knott’s Scary Farm runs a whole host of nights, starting on September 25 and running through November 1. Tickets start at a reasonable $39 dollars each – however, there are additional ticket/pass tiers which give you various levels of access. Please check out their official website for ticket information and more – and check out our Scare School event photo gallery below!

Nival Announces Blitzkrieg 3 with Screenshots

Blitzkrieg3_01

September 18 – St. Petersburg – A decade ago, Nival cemented itself as a leader in strategy gaming with the launch of its now-classic Blitzkrieg series, which has won more than forty awards, including numerous Game of the Year and Editor’s Choice accolades. Today, Nival unveils Blitzkrieg 3, the next title in the acclaimed series, coming to PC and Mac in early 2015. Blitzkrieg 3 paints a realistic picture of World War II – away from the realm of politics or ideology, focused on the battles that ultimately shaped the world we live in today.

Players will become commanders of the era as they experience an interactive story of the second World War, blending single-player and innovative multiplayer gameplay. Classic single-player campaigns will be available for each party involved in the conflict – the USSR, the Axis and the Allies. Multiplayer is asynchronous, allowing players to make their way through the enemy defenses without needing to be online for hours on end.

“Since its establishment 17 years ago, Nival has been focused on the strategy genre – often mixing it with other elements to create new game experiences,” saysSergey Orlovskiy, CEO of Nival. “We feel that today’s rather rapid pace of life has caused the RTS genre to fall by the wayside. Blitzkrieg 3 is designed to re-invent RTS for modern gamers, using all of our experience to deliver something new and exciting.”

More information about Blitzkrieg 3 will be released in the coming months, but for now prospective strategists can take a look at the official website www.blitzkrieg.com, complete with gameplay footage, developer insight, screenshots and more.

Further, to commemorate the announcement of Blitzkrieg 3, the original titles with all the official add-ons are on sale on Steam for just $4.99/€4.99/£3.99. Get out there, commander!
