Dallas, TX (May 2, 2016) – Di Bonaventura Pictures (1408, TRANSFORMERS) and Caliber Media (DARK WAS THE NIGHT, SOME KIND OF HATE) partnered up to option the rights to develop a brand new take on Charles Band’s cult classic horror film franchise PUPPET MASTER. With the intention to produce multiple storylines within this new universe, the producers have set S. Craig Zahler (BONE TOMAHAWK) to write the first script entitled PUPPET MASTER: THE LITTLEST REICH and expand the mythology, and the director’s search is quietly underway.
The film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian for di Bonaventura Pictures alongside Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller for Caliber Media. Charles Band will executive produce. Sonnier and Band announced the project together this weekend on stage at the Texas Frightmare Weekend presented by Fangoria.
“We couldn’t be more excited to take the series in a new direction while embracing all the practical effects and terrifying insanity that fans of the PUPPET MASTER films love,” said Heller.
The original PUPPET MASTER is an American horror film franchise that focuses on a group of anthropomorphic puppets animated by an Egyptian spell, each equipped with their own unique and dangerous device and are represented as heroes, anti-heroes, and antagonists. Produced by Band and his Full Moon Features label, the series was established in 1989 with the eponymous first installment, which has since been followed by numerous sequels, comic books, collector’s items and toys.
Zahler’s completely new take on PUPPET MASTER maintains all of the brutally inventive puppet kills infused with the comedic tendencies that made the original franchise so popular with fans, while expanding upon Toulon’s backstory and developing richer dialogue, characters, and narratives.
The storyline for THE LITTLEST REICH follows a recently divorced young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother’s closet and plans to sell the toy at a convention in Oregon celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders. All hell breaks loose at the Postville Lodge during the auction when a strange force animates all of the various puppets throughout the convention as they go on a bloody killing spree.
“As a child of the 80’s and 90’s, I spent a vast majority of my allowance on Charles Band-produced films,” said Dallas Sonnier, “PUPPET MASTER was hands down my favorite, and I had the movie poster on my wall and a giant standee in my bedroom. The chance to work with Lorenzo, Zahler, and Band all at once on this new take is simply a dream come true.”
Sonnier and Heller met Band several years back when Sonnier’s wife was doing publicity work for Full Moon Features. They decided to team up on a larger budget version of PUPPET MASTER, and Caliber took the idea to Zahler who was also a huge fan of the original films. Sonnier knew that di Bonaventura Pictures was looking to work with Zahler on the right project and had experience with universe building on TRANSFORMERS, and that company agreed to finance the script through a recently created development fund in partnership with Film Italia.
Di Bonaventura Pictures is best known for producing some of the world’s biggest film franchises including TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE, as well as genre hits 1408 and THE DEVIL INSIDE. Their next film DEEPWATER HORIZON, a story set on the offshore drilling rig that exploded to create the worst oil spill in U.S. history, is set to be released in September of this year.
Caliber Media and Zahler worked together on the recent commercial and festival hit BONE TOMAHAWK, which stars Kurt Russell, Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, and Richard Jenkins. The film was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards: Best Screenplay for S. Craig Zahler, and Best Supporting Actor for Richard Jenkins. The film also won Critic’s Choice for Best Picture at Sitges International Film Festival. Zahler’s next film BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 was just announced with Vince Vaughn attached to star, with Sonnier and Heller producing.
Zahler is repped by United Talent Agency, Caliber Media, and Ziffren Brittenham.
Retailing for about $80 dollars, Corsair’s VOID Surround Dolby 7.1 USB gaming headset is the mid-tier option in their line of headphones. Featuring wired connectivity of lower-end models with the DOLBY 7.1 USB adapter of the higher-end ones, it is always interesting to see how a company will balance features vs. MSRP in these situations. Thankfully, Corsair has done a masterful job of providing a quality product at a price point that will not break your proverbial bank.
Externally, the Corsair VOID Surround features volume and mute controls on the left ear cup as well as a boom microphone. Its ear cups are contoured to fit more in-line with the shape of the human ear and they are very comfortable. That being said, I found the overall headset fit slightly more snug than usual – but I should add to this that I have a big head. If you have an average-sized human head, you should be okay.
Internally, each ear cup houses a 50mm neodymium driver that produces a good audio output that is very clear, if not a bit bassy at higher volumes. What is important to remember about the Corsair VOID Surround is that it is basically a sub-one hundred dollar stereo headset. What adds leaps and bounds to the audio quality is the included Dolby 7.1 USB dongle. When using this dongle and the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) software suite, you can tweak your sound profile quite a bit and the virtual surround sound is quite convincing. You can tweak the scale of the surround sound and overall sound levels with the equalizer and it has some nice presets like “Movie Theater” and “FPS Competition” that are really good at providing audio benefits to specific types of activities.

This biggest issue with the Corsair VOID Surround Dolby 7.1 USB gaming headset lies in its boom microphone. It isn’t very adjustable and has more “pop” than I am used to on my gaming headset microphones. I would have also liked to have seen Corsair add a way to remove the microphone entirely in situations where game chat is not necessary or desired. It would have been nice for them to add a slightly better pop filter (if there is one at all on the unit) to the boom microphone.
Overall, the Corsair VOID Surround Dolby 7.1 USB gaming headset is a fine mid-tier gaming headset option with decent audio quality for a model in its price point. When coupled with the Dolby 7.1 USB dongle, however, the audio experience is elevated quite a bit. You can even plug other headphones into the Dolby 7.1 USB dongle which further adds to the versatility of this package. The Corsair VOID Surround Dolby 7.1 USB gaming headset retails for $79.99 and is available now at various online retailers.

April 29, 2016 – Space Hulk®: Deathwing is an upcoming first-person shooter set in Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe. Space Hulk: Deathwing is an adaptation of the Space Hulk board game, developed on Unreal Engine 4 by the team behind E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy, Streum On Studio. This trailer introduces the basics of the game: its premise, the teammates, the localised damage system, and some of the fearsome enemies players will encounter.
Infiltrate and explore the Space Hulk “Olethros”, a derelict collection of space ship and debris filled with hidden dangers and relics. As a Librarian, players can take AI squadmates or have fellow players join them in their investigation into the mystery of Olethros, co-written by renowned Dark Angels writer Gavin Thorpe.
Infesting the Space Hulk are ferocious Genestealers who utilise ambushes, swarming and tactical retreats in order to slowly tear down the player’s Terminator armour. Damage is localised, and taking too many hits in certain areas will cause your armour to malfunction. To stop the horde, you’ll have access to a wide assortment of weapons, skills, and powers taken directly from Warhammer 40,000 lore to customize your squad of Dark Angel Terminators.
Space Hulk: Deathwing will release later in 2016.

We recently got the chance to take a look at Corsair’s new M65 PRO RGB gaming mouse. Retailing for $59.99, the M65 PRO RGB has some very gamer-centric features that goes to illustrate exactly how Corsair has listened to fans out there when designing this latest gaming mouse. The Corsair M65 PRO RGB is available in both black and white exterior colors, and has an overall shape that looks something out of science fiction. Continuing with its aesthetics, the mouse also features some very eye-pleasing lighting effects that, while I don’t usually need lights on a mouse, really dug with this particular product. It also features a strong aluminum frame which helps protect the mouse from the strain of long-term usage and any accidental drops.
One of the most interesting features on the M65 PRO RGB is its weight-tuning system. On the underside of the mouse, you will find three weight locations – on which little weights can be added or removed in order to adjust the mouse’s center of gravity. I prefer a mouse to have a little more weight than most in order to keep my movements smoother and more deliberate, and found the M65 PRO RGB to be a joy to glide around my mouse pad. Additionally, the M65 PRO RGB features a braided mouse cable which is always a welcomed addition to a gaming mouse. So many companies are not adding this feature anymore – Corsair is to be commended for recognizing its usefulness.
Of course, the review of any gaming mouse would not be complete without mention of what its got “under the hood” – i.e. it’s sensor system. Corsair has opted to outfit the M65 PRO RGB with an optical sensor capable of up to 12,000 DPI. While I am unsure as to what company manufactured this sensor (or if it is an in-house Corsair product), I can state that it does an incredibly-fine job of tracking the mouse’s movements. When coupled with the Corsair CUE (Corsair Utility Engine) software, you can even calibrate the mouse for your particular mousing surface. The software is fairly straightforward and should not give any gamers out there trouble in figuring out what options do what.
The Corsair M65 PRO RGB gaming mouse features a number of buttons – all which can be configured for whatever control scheme you prefer. The standout to the mouse controls has to be what Corsair refers to as the “sniper button”. When pressed, it allows you to immediately alter the current DPI sensitivity setting of the mouse, which is great to be able to do when, as it is named, sniping in a first-person shooter game.
Also worth noting is the M65 PRO RGB gaming mouse’s scroll wheel. It’s easily one of those most gamer-friendly wheels I have used in a mouse. It is heavy and features some great texturing. They actually put a rubber exterior over a metal core, which makes this scroll wheel one for the record books. Of course, there cannot be that many entries into the “scroll wheel record books” but, if there were, this would be a stand out in the category. In fact, the only real issue with the M65 PRO RGB isn’t really an issue at all, and that is that the mouse is a right-handed only design. Again, this is not really an issue as it was designed to be right-handed only.
Finally, Corsair shipped us one of their MM300 Extended Edition mouse pads with this shipment, and it is worth mentioning that it is the widest mouse pad I have ever seen. It measures about 36 inches by 12 inches in dimensions and is made from foam and cloth. This mouse pad retails for about $30 dollars and is an excellent option if you need a lot of mousing real estate. It is so wide, in fact, that you can even put your keyboard on it and still have plenty of room for your mouse as well. This is kind of cool as it acts as not only a mouse pad but also a desk protector!
Overall, the Corsair M65 PRO RGB Gaming Mouse is a great gaming mouse with a lot of features built-in with the gamer in mind. Retailing for $59.99 at Corsair’s official website and various online retailers, the M65 PRO RGB is out now and well worth your hard-earned cash.
