Electronic Arts and Slightly Mad Studios have released some new screenshots from their upcoming Need for Speed: SHIFT that shows off the game’s Nissan Skyline GTR. Due out September 22nd in North America, SHIFT promises enhanced car customizations by way of cosmetics as well as parts and a revised 3d cockpit system.

The Dante’s Inferno dev team have released their latest diary on the third circle of hell: Gluttony. Gluttony will feature such bucolic imagery as clouds of urine and rivers of defecation for your vacationing enjoyment. Dante’s Inferno is scheduled for release in January of 2010.
Cryptic Studios has released a new ‘Big Boss Battles’ trailer for their upcoming Champions Online. Take special note of one of the bosses which should make Simpsons fans happy (its spelled with a ‘K’, not a ‘Q’, cryptic!). Champions Online is due out on Windows PCs come September 1st.
Looks like Jeff Schiefelbein has acquired permission to create a haunted house based on Konami’s Silent Hill series and will be bringing it to Southern CA this October. The Silent Hill haunted house will be located in Brea, CA and will also be accompanied by a second maze at what creator Jeff Schiefelbein is calling ‘Sinister Pointe’. The second maze is called FEAR and, we imagine, will re-use many of the props from Schiefelbein’s SAW: The Haunted Attraction from last year at the same location.

It would seem that cool new things are afoot at Best Buy stores! Well, one, anyway – the store located in West Jordan, Utah. It seems that the store is advertising a new games policy whereby customers can price match new games with the prices of the equivalent used titles at other stores (GameCrazy, GameStop, GameWeRipYouOffonUsedGames, etc)! If adopted nation-wide, this means Bet Buy will have taken away any incentive to buy the used titles at other retailers! The game industry will be very happy to hear this as they claim used game sales eat into their profits.

NCsoft has released a new video talking about their upcoming MMO, AION, and player-character customization. AION is due out on September 22nd for Windows PCs and has already been a huge hit in South Korea, which started playing in November of last year.
Looks like CCP is beginning to stir with activity that points to their next big MMO project (or perhaps a big EVE expansion) called ‘DUST 514‘. The developer has trademarked the name along with a logo, the official description of which says:
‘The mark consists of a masked face with white sunken eyes and a round opening at the mouth. There are two parallel thick lines on either side of the jaw of the face which are a parallel to a third line which runs across the bottom of the face and dips into a V at the center. The ends of each of the lines angle downward towards the face. The word ‘DUST’ and ‘514’ are written across the bottom of the mark in stylized font.’
Rumors abound as to whether or not this is a new IP or just another EVE Online expansion. Either seems plausible at this point – CCP is expected to announce their new game at GDC Europe which runs from August 17th through 19th in Cologne, Germany.
Cryptic Studios has released a new trailer for their upcoming super-hero MMO, Champions Online, called ‘Defend Truth and Justice!’. Champions Online is set to release on September 1st for Windows PCs. This morning, it was announced that a pre-order purchase will grant customers the ability to select a lifetime membership plan.
EuroGamer is reporting that The Agency Exective Producer and Studio Head, Matt Wilson, along with Art Director Corey Dangel and Producer John Smith have left the Seattle studio of Sony Online Entertainment to form Detonator Games.
The SOE Seattle studio was directly responsible for their upcoming spy-MMO, The Agency. With the departure of three high-level execs like this, the fate of The Agency is definitely in question. In development since 2005, The Agency is said to be due out next year for both Windows PCs and the Playstation 3. We have sent an official request for comment to Sony Online Entertainment and will update this post when we hear back.

EA SPORTS continues their release of players and team ratings with their Madden NFL 10 Season Preview feature. In this update to the Season Preview, they have announced the player and team ratings for franchises in the AFC EAST. The Madden NFL 10 Season Preview will culminate on August 3rd with a full simulated rundown of the football season.
