Rainbow Six Siege Operation Ember Rise Gadgets and Operators Trailer

Raleigh, North Carolina — August 18, 2019 — Today, at the Six Major Raleigh, Ubisoft announced the full details of the third season of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege Year 4 content. Operation Ember Rise introduces a new Attacker and a new Defender, Amaru and Goyo from Peru and Mexico. In the meantime, the map Kanal has been entirely reworked with an improved navigation between all parts. Finally, Ubisoft announced that Battle Passes are coming into the game, with a free Phase 1 named “Call Me Harry” released later in the season.

Peruvian attacker Amaru and Mexican Defender Goyo will bring verticality and fire in-game. Amaru, a former archeologist, is equipped with a G8A1 automatic rifle and a Supernova shotgun. Notably Amaru will also possess the ability to access any high position in record time with her Garra hook and finish with a Garra kick which instantly takes out an opponent standing behind the window, making her a perfect flanker. Amaru helped to raise Goyo, a former member of the Mexican Fuerzas Especiales who uses the dangerous Volcán Shield. Like the ordinary Deployable Shield, the Volcán Shield provides cover and allows Defenders to block pathways, but Goyo can turn up the heat with an attached incendiary bomb and make it burst.

In addition to these two new Rainbow recruits, players will be able to explore a reimagined Kanal map, newly reworked to make it easier to rotate and navigate with a new path linking the eastern and western buildings. Two staircases have been added to make the entire map more vertical and the number of indoor playable areas has been increased, with some rooms also seeing an expansion. Last but not least, all bomb sites have been changed from the Kitchen to the Security Room and the site in the Radio Room is now found in the expanded Lounge Room.

Rainbow Six Siege will also introduce a Battle Pass, starting with the Mini Battle Pass “Call Me Harry”. The Mini Battle Pass is Phase 1 of Rainbow Six Siege’s Battle Pass deployment in Year 4 and will launch during Year 4 Season 3 for free. “Call me Harry” will set its focus on Dr. Harishva “Harry” Pandey, Director of Rainbow. By earning Battle Points, players will unlock tiers and unique rewards, and will get an exclusive Harry Chibi charm upon completion. Phase 2 of the Battle Pass, including a free track and the premium track, will be available during Season 4.

Additional updates include the following:

  • An all new unranked playlist containing the same rules as Ranked without affecting players’ rank or MMR.
  • An all new Champions rank
  • Map rotations have been reworked in Ranked, Casual and Unranked
  • Player Behavior updates to combat in-game toxicity
  • The Operators menu has been reworked
  • The shop interface has been improved

The Test Server for Operation Ember Rise Sight will go live on August 19th. The Test Server is an alternative version of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, allowing players to test upcoming gameplay features that will make their way into the main game itself. Since this is a testing environment, a consistent gameplay experience is not guaranteed on the Test Server. Players are invited to submit the issues they encounter on the Test Server on the R6 Fix platform [link: here]. The Test Server is exclusive to Windows PC.

Golem Release Date Announced

London, UK, August 2019 – Highwire Games and Perp Games are absolutely thrilled to reveal that Golem will emerge from the shadows in both physical and digital form on PSVR this Fall.

Built by a team of world-class industry veterans and described by Polygon as a “Supergroup of Developers”, Golem is one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year.

Featuring music from the award-winning composer Marty O’Donnell, creator of the soundtrack for Halo and Destiny, innovative game design by Jaime Griesemer, the Game Designer on Halo & Destiny, and developed by a team instrumental in some of the best loved games of all time, Golem has the world-class pedigree to be a flagship title for PlayStation® VR.

In Golem you take on the role of Twine, an adventurous kid who has been left critically injured by a serious accident. While you can’t leave your bed, you develop an extraordinary ability to create and control large stone golems and see the world through their eyes.

You can use your golems to explore an enormous abandoned city, collecting treasure and artefacts, while unravelling a deeper mystery and discovering the connection between the city and your family. Designed from the ground up for VR, the game also has an innovative free movement control scheme and intense one-to-one melee combat that sees you feint, block, and counter-attack your enemies.

Golem has been in development for several years as Highwire Games have spent time refining and polishing the experience to the highest possible standard. Now they’re ready to share what they’ve been working on with the rest of the world.

Of the announcement, Jaime Griesemer, Creative Director at Highwire, says “It’s so gratifying to see our original vision for Golem come together into a full experience. We’ve really had to push ourselves and the technology, but I think the game is beautiful and I can’t wait for everyone to be able to play it. And we’re pretty old school, so it won’t feel ‘finished’ for us until we see it on store shelves.”

Rob Edwards, Managing Director of Perp Games, is thrilled to be publishing one of PSVR’s most highly anticipated exclusives. “Golem has been a long-time coming but the wait is almost over. It is our honour to be working with such an amazing team of world-class talent. We can’t wait to explore Golem’s secrets.”

Golem features music from award-winning composer Marty O’Donnell, creator of the soundtrack for Halo and Destiny. As an added bonus for fans, the Physical Edition of Golem will also include a downloadable version of “Echoes of the First Dream” the musical prequel to the game.

Golem will launch this Fall as a PlayStation® VR exclusive and will receive a physical release through Perp Games in Europe and North America.

Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son VR Adventure Announced

Los Angeles – Aug. 19, 2019 – Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR), MWM Immersive (MWMi), and Tequila Works today announced that “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son,” a virtual reality narrative adventure that takes place in the world of the film “Groundhog Day,” will launch on September 17, 2019. The game will be available globally on PlayStation® VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive for $29.99.
In “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” players assume the role of Phil Connors Jr., the son of Phil Connors from the iconic film, who returns to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania only to become trapped in a time loop just as his father once was. Players will solve puzzles and explore the world introduced by the film as they try to break out of this time loop.

A demo for “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” is available for attendees of gamescom this week in Cologne, Germany. Members of the media interested in playing a demo of the game on PlayStation® VR are encouraged to visit the Sony Interactive Entertainment Booth, Hall 7, Booth A010 on Tuesday August 20. Fans and members of the public interested in playing a demo of the game for themselves should visit Dell booth, Hall 7.1 – Stand B030, Wednesday August 21 through Saturday August 24.

Featuring beloved places and personalities from the film as well as new characters, “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” includes fun puzzles that players must overcome as they solve the mystery of their own time loop. Along the way, the charming but arrogant and social media-obsessed Phil Connors Jr. will learn valuable lessons about life, love, and family,

“At Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, we are focused on extending beloved IP into new mediums and reaching new audiences. ‘Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son’ is a perfect example of that,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment. “By continuing the world of ‘Groundhog Day’ in a VR game, we can introduce a new generation to the magic of the film and expand upon this universe. While the game introduces a new, modern story and protagonist, the themes explored by the original film remain true to this day.”

“Telling stories through new mediums is a focus of our work at MWM Immersive, and VR gives us an incredible opportunity to tell a fresh, modern-day Groundhog Day narrative,” said Ethan Stearns, EVP of Content at MWMi. “Extending a film’s narrative into an interactive medium can be difficult, but the world of ‘Groundhog Day’ was a perfect opportunity to combine a film’s unique storytelling archetype with a game’s core mechanic.”

“VR allows players to explore unique worlds, discover stories and interact with characters in entirely new ways,” said Raul Rubio, CEO and Creative Director of Tequila Works. “The iconic world and characters of ‘Groundhog Day’ are incredibly rich and memorable and we’ve used them as a jumping-off point for a contemporary experience and story.”

“Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” will be available for pre-order on PlayStation Store, Oculus Store, Viveport, and Steam starting tomorrow, August 20. PlayStation Plus members can pre-order the game at a discounted price of $26.99. For a limited time, pre-orders also include a code to download a digital copy of “Groundhog Day” the movie, available after the release of “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” (available only in the US and Canada). In addition, the official soundtrack for the game will also be available digitally on September 17. The original 1993 film is also available now to watch again and again via disc and digital.

“Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” is co-produced by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality (SPVR), and MWMi, a leading creator of story-driven VR and interactive entertainment. The game is developed by Tequila Works, Madrid-based creators of award-winning video games including Deadlight, RIME, The Sexy Brutale, and The Invisible Hours. “Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son” is published by SPVR.

Virgin Galactic Opens the Doors to the “Gateway to Space”

Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA (15th August 2019): Virgin Galactic today revealed the first look at the interior fit-out of its Gateway to Space building at Spaceport America in New Mexico. The work completed showcased two floors of the building primarily focused on spaceflight operations, which also incorporates communal spaces designed for use in the future by Virgin Galactic customers, along with their friends and families. Completion of this interior work means the spaceport facility is now operationally functional and able to support Virgin Galactic’s flight requirements.

One of the hallmarks of the Virgin brand for over nearly half a century has been the use of inspired and bold design to transform customer experiences. It is an ethos that has been successfully applied across industrial sectors and design disciplines. From aircraft cabins to hotel bedrooms and from fitness classes to bank accounts.

Virgin Galactic has striven to remain faithful to that tradition by choosing an elegant, experience-focused concept for the space launch system itself. Similarly, the company’s choice to operate from Spaceport America in New Mexico was due in no small part to the state’s decision to commission landmark architecture for the world’s first purpose-built commercial spaceport. The Foster + Partners Gateway to Space facility pays homage to the past in its respect for the ancient surrounding landscape while powerfully embracing the future through energy efficiency and sustainability. It was also specifically designed to enable Virgin Galactic to create an unparalleled experience as its customers prepare for journeys of a lifetime before graduating as astronauts.

The first floor is focused on our home planet, and is named Gaia, representing the point of departure and return, as well as the purpose of each astronaut’s journey. The color palettes and the use of natural materials aims to bring the stunning landscape which surrounds Spaceport inside. The floor design, furniture and fittings promote social interaction and human discourse – a sense of togetherness and unity. An elevated, interactive digital walkway will heighten the departure experience for the Future Astronauts and their friends and family as they set out from Spaceport to VSS Unity on the day of flight. The Earth-focused design will provide a fitting welcome to those newly-graduated astronauts returning from space with a new appreciation and understanding of our home planet.

Gaia is subtly and unobtrusively zoned into practical, formal and informal spaces which will host the space operations team, Future Astronauts and their family and friends. It serves as the social hub of the building, where everyone is part of the Virgin Galactic family; Future Astronauts will share breakfast with spaceship pilots, grab coffee with rocket engineers and pass the time of day with the team from Mission Control.

The focal point of Gaia is the Barista Island, a central bar made of back-lit Italian marble hovering above hand-crafted oak providing a social hub for our hospitality team to engage with guests and staff. Spaceflight preparation will unite our teams with our Future Astronauts in the pursuit of a common purpose. The Barista Island within Gaia will help to foster that sense of camaraderie and the determination to deliver each Future Astronauts’ personal mission.

The second floor is named Cirrus, representing light, air and flight. It is the beating heart of spaceflight operations, and is connected to the community hub of Gaia below through a double height atrium. The color palette graduates from the earthy tones below in Gaia to lighter white and grey shades, reflecting the skies beyond and providing a clean environment supporting operational focus.

This area is home to Mission Control, the Mission Briefing Room, the Pilot Corps and the rest of the Flight Operations team.

Mission Control enjoys a dedicated space which allows focus on flight operations. Outside this space, the Flight Operations team and the pilots are positioned to give an unrestricted view of ground operation areas including the apron and runway.

Virgin Galactic’s space fleet will be housed in the Gateway to Space hangar which is already home to VMS Eve. This huge expanse in the middle of the building is large enough to accommodate two carrier aircraft, each with a wingspan of 140 ft along with five SpaceShipTwo vehicles.

The unveiling of Gaia and Cirrus brings to life a beautiful, world-first and world-class facility and means that Spaceport America’s Gateway to Space is now functionally operational – ready to host the remaining portion of Virgin Galactic’s test flight program before welcoming its very first Future Astronauts.
