Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector geared up for one of its biggest Warhammer Day yet, bringing new gameplay options, a major rebalance, a brand-new Skirmish map, Xbox Play Anywhere support to commanders across the Microsoft ecosystem and a new campaign DLC launching 14 December.
XBox Play Anywhere arrives 29 October on Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector
On 29 October, Battlesector will officially support Xbox Play Anywhere (XPA).
XPA replaces the separate Xbox and Windows Store versions with a unified version that runs across both platforms, bringing seamless functionality to players within the Microsoft ecosystem.
What Xbox Play Anywhere Brings
Xbox Play Anywhere brings a more connected experience across PC and Xbox, with live cross-platform multiplayer allowing players on both platforms to battle together in real time through Microsoft Live Multiplayer. Shared save games let players seamlessly carry their progress between Xbox and PC, while shared achievements ensure achievement progress is unified across both platforms. User creations and custom maps will also continue to work as they do today, with the Map Editor remaining available whenever Battlesector is played on PC, allowing commanders to keep creating and sharing their own battlefields.
What will be different
For Xbox version owners, there will be no change to the Xbox experience, and once the Xbox Play Anywhere version launches, they will also be able to download the game and all owned DLC through the Xbox App on PC.
Windows Store owners will see their current version delisted and no longer updated, although it will remain accessible from their library, while their game and DLC entitlements will be transferred to the Xbox platform. However, Windows Store save games and achievements cannot be transferred to the new XPA version. Multiplayer will move to the Xbox system, allowing live matches between XPA players, but removing access to Slitherine’s servers for Live or Async play with players on non-Microsoft platforms. Once XPA launches, Windows Store owners will be able to access the game through both the Xbox App on PC and the Xbox Store on console.
A new Campaign DLC: Courage & Catastrophe will arrive December 14th
Foran Prime, a resource-rich Mining World once isolated by warp storms, has been rediscovered by the Imperium and subjected to relentless exploitation. As Imperial colonists extract valuable minerals and promethium, their machinery uncovers ancient secrets buried beneath the planet’s swamps.
Courage & Catastrophe is a 13-mission story campaign set on the war-torn world of Foran Prime and it will include 3 new units for one of the factions.
More will be revealed soon: Stay Tuned.
A major, rich and free update
Accompanying the previous great news is a major free update for every player, bringing a substantial range of new content, balance changes and customization options to the battlefield.
The T’au Empire expands its arsenal with new weapon choices for its elite units, including the Plasma Rifle for Crisis Battlesuits, giving commanders greater flexibility when tailoring their forces to different battlefield situations.
The update also introduces a brand-new Skirmish map, “Rerouted,” offering a fresh environment with new tactical challenges and opportunities for commanders to test different armies, strategies and unit compositions.
Combat itself is also being significantly refined through a new damage calculation system, with weapon damage now calculated to one decimal place for greater precision and consistency. This change is accompanied by a broader gameplay rebalance to ensure weapons, units and their performance remain properly aligned with the new damage mechanics.
The Tyranid faction is also receiving a major rebalance, bringing the Hive Mind into line with the updated combat system and overall game balance.
Finally, the update adds new Model Count variants for a selection of units across the game’s factions, giving players more freedom to customise their armies when building and fielding them.
