Red Hook Studios surprises longtime fans and new players with The Fire’s Edge, a brand new DLC for Darkest Dungeon. Reignited with two new playable characters and gameplay elements from the sequel, Darkest Dungeon II, The Fire’s Edge combines the best of both titles into the original acclaimed turn-based indie gem, which initially launched in 2016. The Fire’s Edge is available now on PC, Mac, and LINUX through Steam, GOG, and Epic Game Store; as well as on console via PlayStation 4, and Xbox One both playable through backwards compatibility in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, for 6.99 USD / 8.99 CAD / 6.49 EUR. The Nintendo Switch edition of The Fire’s Edge will launch on August 20th. Feast your eyes on the fiery-hot new trailer, below.

Six years after Darkest Dungeon received its last content update, The Fire’s Edge is available to play today. Two new heroes with inventive combat mechanics await players in the Hamlet, allowing both newcomers and seasoned veterans to experience the classic turn-based RPG roguelite with an all new set of skills at their disposal. The arrival of unique trinkets, additional Town Events, and 3 more Districts round out this latest offering from Red Hook Studios.

Fire-Forged Gameplay Changes

The Fire’s Edge DLC introduces The Runaway and the Duelist to Darkest Dungeon. The vagrant Runaway favours fire and stealth when pressed to fight: enemies, beware the one patterned in burns, draped in tatters, and wielding a crude poker. The Runaway’s fire-based ability, Burn, will feel familiar to players of Darkest Dungeon II. By contrast, the Duelist stands severe with an ornate capelet conspicuously pierced above the breast — not a challenger yet has held quarter against her bitter edge. Equip heroes with new trinkets that come charged with powerful limited effects, or that transform through use as players complete their harrowing expeditions. The new Districts, Academie Duello, Craftworks, and Archaeological Base Camp offer new bounties such as weekly Heirlooms and Trinkets, as well as damage boosts to heroes! Meanwhile, a new series of Town Events have been introduced to add even more variety in your week to week administrations at the Hamlet.

Those who delight in modding will appreciate the addition of new combat and trinket mechanics that will grant an expanded set of tools with which to create! Mod users can also rejoice at the coming addition of an improved mod manager, which will be delivered in a follow-up update, due before the end of August.
