Revealed just shy of a month ago, Emberville quickly caught viewers off guard as Cygnus Cross lifted the curtain on what the team has been quietly developing for the past three years. Today, during the Convergence Showcase livestream, the developer returned with another surprise, announcing the latest addition to Emberville’s growing voice cast, alongside an expanded role for a previously revealed fan-favorite.
Already confirmed as a core cast member, Alex Jordan (The Alters, Cyberpunk 2077, Dragon Age: The Veilguard) has officially stepped into a dual role on Emberville, serving not only as a voice actor but also as the game’s Performance Director. The move further cements what Cygnus Cross has described as an all-star roster of talent, both behind the mic and behind the scenes.
“The thing that really makes any project stand out to me is the developers themselves, the people at the core of it all,” said Jordan. “You can have the best concept in the world, but if the team isn’t utterly devoted and approaching it with a level of detail and nuance, the result will always be mediocre. Cygnus Cross showed me that not only is Emberville an incredibly cool idea, but they also have that detail and nuance in overflowing abundance. Their care and commitment to creating something with legacy and quality for their players is what truly makes me excited about Emberville. Oh, and I lied to Doug about him getting sausages to help get the deal across the line… don’t tell him.”
Previously revealed cast member Doug Cockle (The Witcher, The Alters) echoed that enthusiasm when speaking about joining the project. “The passion, skill, and experience going into the development of this game is phenomenal,” said Cockle. “I’m always attracted to projects where the team has a clear goal in mind, and the drive and knowledge to reach for it, especially when that goal pushes boundaries. That’s exciting to be part of. Plus, they told me there would be small sausages. I like small sausages.”
Also revealed during today’s showcase is the addition of Abubakar Salim, best known as the voice of Bayek of Siwa in Assassin’s Creed: Origins and as Alyn of Hull in House of the Dragon. Salim joins the cast as the latest high-profile addition to Emberville’s lineup.
“I look for projects that take risks, and Emberville is absolutely pushing the envelope,” said Salim. “Seeing how this team is deconstructing the genre is inspiring, and doing it with such intellect and intent is awesome.”
With its cast continuing to grow and development momentum building, Emberville is shaping up to be one of the most personality-driven titles of the year. More details on the game (and its apparently very sausage-motivated ensemble) will be shared in the months ahead.
