Made in Brazil by the Brazilian dev team at Rogue Snail, Hell Clock is a dark retelling of the late 19th century War of Canudos. Players will delve into the depths of Purgatory and Hell, facing down the demons of Brazil’s past, present, and future. Revived time and again by the magical Hell Clock, restricted in the time they can spend in the depths, fighting as fast and as far as possible in each run.

Hell Clock has launched with a full three-act campaign as well as a Beta version of Ascension, an end-game system sure to challenge even the most experienced RPG and roguelike players. Rogue Snail has also shared a content roadmap for the game, including gameplay updates over the next few months, as well as an expansion coming in 2026: Hell Clock: Cursed War. For more information, see the Steam blog from the devs. The base game, future expansion, original soundtrack, and “Step into Hell” visual effect can be purchased as a bundle in the Hell Clock Supporter’s Edition for $29.99.

“Hell Clock is our love letter to Action RPGs, roguelikes, and Brazilian History,” said Mark Venturelli, CEO of Rogue Snail and Creative Director on Hell Clock. “We’re all huge fans of both genres, and we play way too much Path of Exile. Our goal with this game has always been to fit the feeling of an entire PoE league or Diablo season into just a few hours of Hell Clock.”

“But Hell Clock is much more personal to us than that. I grew up in Salvador, the capital of Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia where the War of Canudos took place. We learned about this massacre growing up, but it’s a black mark on Brazilian history that not many of my countrymen and women outside of Bahia know much about. Hell Clock is an effort to share our culture and our history with the world, both inside and outside of our borders.”

Fans of ARPGs like Diablo and Path of Exile, as well as roguelikes like Hades, will find plenty to love in Hell Clock. Already embraced by both communities, the game’s pre-launch demo received 96% Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam.
