Publisher Kalypso Media today unveils the Story Trailer for Tropico 7, offering a first glimpse at the campaign and El Presidente’s journey from a humble colonial governor serving the British Crown to the ruler of his own island. A modest career move, really – especially for someone who has always believed that “governor” sounds much better with a crown.
Players will build and shape Tropico, navigate rival political factions, issue edicts, and make decisions that influence the future of their island. From serving the Crown to pursuing their own ambitions, El Presidente’s rise to power offers plenty of opportunities to write history on his terms (as always!), with his own portrait on every wall, plastered across billboards and posters throughout the island, statues erected in his honor, and a conveniently edited version of history in the books.
But El Presidente’s ambitions do not go unnoticed. Among those standing in his way is Victoria Guerra, a determined revolutionary with her own ideas about Tropico’s future. And while her plans remain unclear for now, one thing is certain: El Presidente’s path to power will not be without opposition. Or criticism. Or suspiciously well-organised citizens gathering in the town square
Because on Tropico, every alliance has an expiration date – and every crisis is an opportunity. Especially if the crisis can be blamed on the previous administration, a foreign power or, in truly desperate times, the weather.
Tropico 7 will be available on January 28th, 2027 with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and on PC (Steam, Epic Games), Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation®5. The Tropico 7 – Special Edition will be available for Nintendo Switch™ 2, featuring mouse controls for Joy-Con™ 2 controllers and GameChat functionality.
