Freeform has officially released the first teaser trailer for “Coven Academy,” an upcoming supernatural teen drama from creator and executive producer Tim Federle (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series). The series is set to premiere Oct. 1 on Freeform at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT, with the full season streaming the following day on Disney+, Hulu, and Freeform on Demand.
Set against the haunted backdrop of New Orleans, Coven Academy follows three teenage witches and their dangerously charming warlock peers at an elite magical boarding school. In a world where power is currency and secrets are lethal, the coven must navigate ancient supernatural wars and forbidden romance to protect their city and themselves.
The fast-paced teaser—scored to Olivia Rodrigo’s hit track “Brutal”—teases rising tensions among the core group, driven by the mysteries surrounding new arrival Briar and the dangerous ambitions of warlock classmate Jake.
The series features a stellar ensemble cast:
- Malina Pauli Weissman (A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Briar, a fiercely independent New Yorker discovering her magic.
- Malachi Barton (Zombies 4) as Jake, a magnetic and dangerous warlock.
- Jordan Leftwich (The Family Switch) as Sasha, an empathic mind-reader.
- Ora Duplass (Their Town) as Tegan, an irreverent, time-bending witch.
- Louis Thresher (Boarders) as Ollie, a newly turned vampire.
- Tiffani Thiessen (White Collar, 90210) as Miss Graves, the school’s formidable headmistress.
- Devon Sawa (Chucky, Final Destination) as special guest star Mr. Cole, a charismatic warlock professor.
The recurring cast includes Swayam Bhatia, Brendon Tremblay, Keegan Connor Tracy, BJ Harrison, and Nathaniel Logan McIntyre.
