Valve has officially announced the highly anticipated return of its bespoke hardware with the all-new Steam Controller, set to launch worldwide on May 4th, 2026, at 10 a.m. Pacific. Designed as a universal input device for your entire library, the controller allows gamers to play however they want across PCs (Windows, Mac, and Linux), laptops, the Steam Deck, and any device running Steam or Steam Link. Furthermore, the controller is future-proofed to work seamlessly with Valve’s upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame. It will be available for $99 USD (with inclusive regional pricing at $149 CAD, €99, £85, $149 AUD, and 419 PLN) directly on Steam in the U.S., Canada, U.K., EU, and Australia. Players in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan can also grab the device through the official regional distributor, Komodo Station.

This high-performance, ergonomic gamepad brings significant upgrades to the table, most notably introducing next-generation magnetic thumbsticks with TMR technology for improved longevity and precision. Alongside full-sized controls, the gamepad features Valve’s signature trackpads, customizable rear grip buttons, and a new grip-enabled gyro known as Grip Sense. To keep players connected and powered up, the Steam Controller comes bundled with a unique, multi-purpose puck. This accessory clicks magnetically into the controller to serve as a convenient charging station, while simultaneously acting as a wireless transmitter for a fast, stable connection. Supported by a robust battery life capable of delivering 35+ hours of gameplay, the new Steam Controller is built for long hauls in your favorite virtual worlds.
