August 7, 2014 — It’s been imitated and remade, but never equaled. Tobe Hooper’s THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE rose from a notorious 1974 sleeper sensation to rank as one of the greatest horror films ever made. Now, to mark the film’s 40th anniversary, Dark Sky Films is presenting the digitally re-mastered masterpiece on Blu-ray for the first time in a stunning Limited Deluxe “Black Maria” Collector’s Edition box set.
THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE appears in an all-new 4K digital transfer and with a newly created 7.1 surround sound mix supervised by director Hooper (Poltergeist). This release marks the only transfer of the film to go back to the original 16mm A/B rolls, the actual film that rolled through the cameras. The Limited Deluxe “Black Maria” Edition of THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE will be released at retail in October but will be available exclusively at www.gorgon-video.com for 30 days starting September 16, 2014. Fans of the film will recognize the unique packaging as a replica of the iconic ‘Black Maria’ cattle truck that comes to Sally Hardesty’s rescue when she’s being pursued by Leatherface, a fitting nod to the legions of TCSM enthusiasts who were instrumental in keeping the film at the forefront of the genre throughout for the past 40 years and a true collectible display piece.’
This four-disc DVD/Blu-ray combo pack will include a wealth of extras, including:

THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE received a mixed critical reception upon its initial release – the Los Angeles Times called it “despicable” – but horror fans immediately recognized it has a breakthrough in unbearable suspense. The story, written by director Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel, is dreadfully simple: Five young people on a weekend getaway in remote Texas countryside fall prey to a chain saw-wielding butcher (dubbed Leatherface because of his mask made of human skin) and his demented cannibalistic family. Thanks to startling scenes such as a woman being impaled on a meat hook, horror cinema would never be the same. Violent, confrontational and shockingly realistic, the film terrified audiences and was the most buzzed-about release of its time (a buzz fueled by the marketing campaign that claimed it was based on a true story).
Thrust upon an America disillusioned by the Vietnam War and Watergate, the 1974 shocker faced a storm of controversy, censorship and outcry. But this masterpiece of horror has stood the test of time to become a landmark motion picture and cultural milestone, having opened the (sliding steel) door to the entire slasher genre of the 1980s and beyond.
In addition to the Limited Deluxe “Black Maria” Edition of THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE , the film will also be released as a standard DVD, Blu-ray and DVD/Blu-ray Combo on September 16 at retail outlets nationwide.

Los Angeles, CA – Tuesday, August 5, 2014 – Magnet Releasing and Drafthouse Films bring a kaleidoscope of death, mayhem and fun with the World Premiere of ABCs of Death 2 at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX on Thursday, September 18. The film has also been announced for release on VOD platforms October 2 with a theatrical run set for October 31.
ABCs of Death 2 features 26 brand new shorts from 26 new directors of acclaimed genre films like Cheap Thrills, Inside, A Lonely Place to Die, American Mary, Big Bad Wolves and many more. Once again, the filmmakers were given free reign to create a short film about death in all its many forms and the results are at turns shocking, hilarious, vile, surprising, beautiful, reprehensible, poignant, disturbing, but most of all, mind-melting fun. In addition to the varied subject matter and creative approaches to time-tested genres, the filmmakers explore a variety of styles including stop-motion animation, dialogue-free, and hand-drawn animation to bring their twisted visions to the screen.
“I truly love how divisive this anthology series will be. There’s no grey when it comes to the ABCs OF DEATH. People either love it or detest it. And that is the exactly the way it should be. Filmmakers are rarely given the opportunity to express themselves with full creative freedom. That’s because it’s usually a dangerous and risky endeavour. So it’s a good thing Tim League and I enjoy risk and we’re happy our partners at Magnet Releasing feel the same way as we do,” said producer Ant Timpson.
“I want people to look back at the ABCs of DEATH rosters ten years from now and see many of these now emerging directors running the show in future Hollywood,” said producer Tim League. ” With Fantastic Fest veterans Garreth Edwards and Rian Johnson commanding the Star Wars franchise, this doesn’t seem unreasonable at all.”
ABCs of Death 2 is the follow-up to the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning from Nigeria to UK to Brazil and everywhere in between. It features segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. The film is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet, beginning with the letter A and ending with the letter Z. The directors were then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving death. Provocative, shocking, funny and at times confrontational,ABCs of Death 2 is another global celebration of next generation genre filmmaking.

Hamburg – August 5, 2014 – ROCCAT Studios rolls full-speed into late summer with a fresh and exciting design philosophy, and two groundbreaking new products to represent ROCCAT’s trailblazing peripheral creation. Making their first appearances at Gamescom 2014 in Cologne, Germany this August, the Nyth gaming mouse, and Skeltr gaming keyboard are set to take the gaming world by storm.
René Korte, CEO and founder of ROCCAT discusses the amazingly versatile Nyth, an MMO mouse that is so much more.
