COSTA MESA, Calif. — March 20, 2014 — BenQ America Corp., a globally renowned LED and gaming monitor expert, is now shipping its fully optimized RL2460HT monitor for high-speed PC and console gaming — perfect for RTS- and MOBA-style games, as well as fighting games. The company is also introducing its stylish “bumble bee” black and yellow RL2240HE gaming monitor — the ultimate detail-driven device for RTS game play with a never-before-seen display design. Featuring specially-engineered Fighting (RL2460HT) and RTS (RL2240HE) modes, the fast-action duo provides blazing-fast 1ms GTG response times, HDMI output (RL2460HT) for streaming, and advanced RevolutionEyes™ technology for exceptional monitor performance and visual comfort during long sessions of absolute action.

“Today’s most popular games are fast, intense, and entirely detail-driven,” said Bob Wudeck, Associate Vice President, Strategy and Business Development at BenQ America Corp. “To give gamers an edge, our RL2460HT and RL2240HE monitors were engineered alongside the world’s top professional fighting game champions to deliver the precision, speed, and market-first innovations needed to provide gamers with amazing experiences. With new game-specific settings, 1ms GTG response times, ZeroFlicker technology, and an HDMI out port on our RL2460HT, our acclaimed RL series is now packing even more of a punch.”

Now shipping, BenQ’s flagship RL2460HT is the world’s first professional gaming monitor dedicated to optimizing the high-speed gaming experience. The mind-blowing 24-inch LED backlit battle machine brings game-elevating enhancements made to crush the competition in titles such as Call of Duty®: Ghosts, StarCraft® ll: Heart of the Swarm™, League of Legends®, Defense of the Ancients™ (Dota™ 2), Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom® 3, and Mortal Kombat®. Co-developed with fighting game legend Justin “JWong” Wong of Evil Geniuses, the monitor’s new Fighting Mode enables gamers to highlight battle characters with special colors — improving focus and precision during high-stakes combat scenes. BenQ is also unleashing its brazen black and yellow RL2240HE monitor. Specifically suited to RTS gameplay, the bold-looking 21.5-inch LED backlit monitor has been fine-tuned to provide the vital visibility and commands needed during strategy-led strikes.

To reliably record, stream, and broadcast gaming feats to global online audiences without any game play disruptions, the RL2460HT now features a built-in HDMI output, which eliminates the risk of system input lag and delay by allowing for action to be captured after rather than prior to going through the monitor. As a result, latency is eradicated to provide uncompromised streaming while also enabling easy head-to-head setup capabilities for multiplayer games using a single screen — giving gamers a solid combination of game play supremacy and setup satisfaction.

Providing an ultra-smooth experience, both the RL2460HT and RL2240HE gaming monitors feature ultra-fast 1ms GTG response times while BenQ’s advanced RevolutionEyes technology, including ZeroFlicker™ capabilities, provide exceptional monitor performance — improving eSports enthusiasts’ visual comfort during competitive action and long gaming sessions. The monitors also bring gamers BenQ’s Black eQualizer, which enables total gaming visibility by allowing players to adjust brightness without over-exposing white levels, revealing critical combat details with improved visibility in darkened areas. Low Blue Light technology also removes up to 70 percent of blue spectrum light to protect gamers’ eyes during extended periods of play without affecting picture quality.

To personalize monitor disposition, the RL2460HT lets gamers easily adjust display height using an integrated precision scale system, which rapidly sets up the monitor to predefined settings. Both devices come with Display Pilot software, which offers users direct access to game-specific display settings for a truly optimized gaming experience. To further accommodate individual viewing preferences, Display Mode allows gamers to switch between nine monitor screen sizes from 17-inch (4:3) to 24-inch widescreen, while Smart Scaling enables players to adjust the screen’s content on-the-fly to virtually any custom size without impacting controller sensitivity.

Available now, BenQ’s RL2460HT and RL2240HE gaming monitors retail at $249 and $189 respectively. More information on BenQ’s full line of products is available at www.BenQ.us.

arma3_win_screenshot_01_to199

Prague, Czech Republic, Thursday 20th March 2014 — Supported by a brand new trailer, Bohemia Interactive today released the third and final episode for the Arma 3’s campaign. The episode, titled ‘Win’, brings a conclusion to the story of infantry man Ben Kerry – a soldier who finds himself caught in the middle of a Mediterranean flashpoint.

Arma 3’s ‘The East Wind’ campaign consists of three episodes. The first episode – Survive – introduces players to soldier Ben Kerry, who has been stationed in the Republic of Altis & Stratis as part of a NATO peacekeeping operation. After a staged drawdown from the region fails, players have to fight for survival against a better equipped and more powerful enemy. The second episode – Adapt – picks up where the first episode ended, and follows Kerry as he links up with a group of guerrilla fighters, aiming to cripple AAF and CSAT forces. The campaign’s final act – Win – continues as the situation escalates even further, and players must deploy all the skills and experience they’ve gathered to bring the flashpoint to a resolution.

Together with the latest campaign episode, Bohemia Interactive also deployed an expansion of Arma 3’s sandbox content. Two new aircraft, the A-164 Wipeout and To-199 Neophron, deliver a whole range of tactical options to the NATO and CSAT factions. Moreover, the A-164 CAS jet, which is a successor to the legendary A-10, is also introduced via the brand new ‘Fixed-Wings’ showcase scenario. Another addition is the Tempest transport truck, which comes in multiple variants: cargo, refuel, medical, repair, and ammo re-supply. Last but not least, new points of interest have been added to the massive 270 km² Altis terrain, with the most notable locations being the athletics stadium and ghost hotel compound.

After downloading today’s automatic update on Steam, people will be able to play the full Arma 3 singleplayer campaign. The exact changelog for the ‘Win’ update can be found here. Knott’s Berry Farm Announces Spring Activities

berrybloom

BUENA PARK, CA (March 2014) – The second annual Knott’s Berry Bloom returns this spring season with larger-than-life displays of beautiful spring colors, interactive family-friendly activities, expanded gourmet food and wine tasting opportunities, and more! New for 2014, celebrate the nostalgic history of Knott’s roots (literally!) at the Ghost Town Boysenberry Festival.  This immersive festival honors the delectable berry that started it all in inventive and delicious ways.

This spring, the historic theme park will host the inaugural Ghost Town Boysenberry Festival where guests can wine, dine, and buy boysenberry inspired products throughout the windings streets of the Old West.  Festival entrances feature rustic banners and oversized boysenberries, just ripe for taking that special photo. Walter & Cordelia Knott’s Original Roadside Boysenberry Stand will be recreated for the special event, from which guests can purchase authentic boysenberry plants. The Knott family sold freshly picked boysenberries from the original stand, and the rest, as they say, is history!

As part of the festival, inside Wilderness Dance Hall guests will find a variety of boysenberry inspired gourmet food and wine offerings from around the world.   Just outside of the Dance Hall, towering sculpted topiaries provide shade during warm April days and twinkle brighter than stars at night. Ghost Town will be filled with the mouthwatering aroma of ribs, chicken, alligator and other charbroiled treats smothered with boysenberry glaze and cooked on open-air barbeques throughout the streets of the festival.

On School House Road, guests can try their hand at western themed games with a boysenberry twist! Winners can take home an exclusive Boysenberry Festival prize. And what’s a festival without a pie eating contest? Daily boysenberry pie eating contests will also take place in front of the Bird Cage Theatre.  It’s almost too much fun to stomach.

While strolling the streets of Ghost Town, guests can capture the moment and the memories at boysenberry themed stand-in cutouts, each featuring fun historical facts and special moments from Knott’s history.  Some will resemble original photo ops from the historic Pitchur Gallery on Main Street.  While enjoying the festival, guests may meet Logan Berry, the mayor of Ghost Town, presiding over the Boysenberry Festival.  But watch out for bandits hankerin’ to steal a piece of boysenberry pie. From day to night, Ghost Town has never looked so deliciously fun.

When the sun sets, things get krazy when Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies mount their toe tappin’, knee-slappin’, gut-bustin’ country comedy show in front of the Bird Cage Theatre that has Knott’s audiences clamoring for more!  It’s the perfectly krazy end to a day at Knott’s Berry Bloom.

Knott’s Berry Bloom also features an extensive line up of live and interactive entertainment. The iconic Charleston Circle fountain transforms into a beautiful floral fountain, adorned with colorful flowers creating an iconic centerpiece for Bloom.  Located in the Boardwalk area, the stunning monument will serve as a dramatic backdrop for two spectacular interactive shows.  Peanuts Party in the Park returns bigger and more interactive than ever with an all-new rockin’ set list, more Peanuts characters, and tons of fun surprises in Charleston Circle.  And this year Knott’s debuts a new nighttime dance party, Bloomination!  After sundown, larger-than-life flowers and vines affixed to the Charleston fountain light the night with LED lighting effects; butterfly stilt walkers prance among the crowd, and a DJ spins the hottest dance music for all ages.

Last year’s guest favorite, the Search for the Easter Beagle returns this year as the Easter Beagle’s ENORMOUS Egg Hunt.  This year, all five of the interactive Easter Beagle locations will also be prize locations for kids 3-11 years old who are on the hunt for spring time fun. The path will lead explorers to a grand finale meet and greet location with the one and only Snoopy, himself in an area of Camp Snoopy created just for this experience!

Near Xcelerator, challenge one another to an oversized game of shuffle board, giant tic tac toe, larger than life bowling, and more at Big Boardwalk Games.  This season, Big Boardwalk Games has sprouted new and exciting games, and throughout the day, Sally and Peppermint Patty come out to play along and challenge park guests to some friendly competition.  Let the good times roll!

In the Camp Snoopy Theatre, Lucy’s Really BIG Show, will showcase the Peanuts pals singing, dancing, and celebrating springtime to cheerful tunes – and they just might invite little ones on stage to celebrate with them! As part of the 30th celebration of Camp Snoopy and renovation of the entire land

dedicated to kids, guests will enjoy the show in the comfort of the new audience shade structure!

Guests don’t have to be experts at the cha-cha-cha to enjoy Salsa Dancing in Fiesta Village, where everyone can to take to the floor with some of their favorite dance music.

Most of the exciting Knott’s Berry Bloom activities are included with admission to Knott’s Berry Farm, which also offers a full day of thrilling coasters and family fun rides, like the all-new Boardwalk attractions and the beautifully restored Timber Mountain Log Ride.  Knott’s is open extended hours from 10am to 10pm during Knott’s Berry Bloom, April 12 – 27, 2014 allowing guests extra time to take advantage of all of the limited-time offerings.

EPIC Selling Unreal Engine 4 For VERY Low Cost Subscription

videothumb-UnrealEngine4ElementalCinematic

SAN FRANCISCO (March 19, 2014) – At the 2014 Game Developers Conference, Epic Games opened Unreal Engine 4 to the world, releasing all of its leading-edge tools, features and complete C++ source code to the development community through a new subscription model. Developers can sign up for UE4 for PC, Mac, iOS and Android by paying $19 per month, plus 5% of gross revenue resulting from any commercial products built using UE4.

“This is our complete engine, with everything Epic provides to leading game developers, priced accessibly for teams of all sizes, budgets and aspirations,” said Tim Sweeney, founder of Epic Games.

With the release of UE4, Epic is moving to a community-centric model built around forums, a Wiki and AnswerHub Q&A, with GitHub hosting the complete C++ source so developers can utilize its robust collaboration functionality for experimentation and sharing.

“This is smart. It’s an enlightened way for developers to create great games and easily bring them to Steam,” said Gabe Newell of Valve.

“Now is a great time to be an independent developer,” said Sweeney. “There are amazing platforms and distribution opportunities available, and with this release we hope the Unreal Engine can help developers build cool new things.”

Further Details

  • Unreal Engine 4 engine and game code are developed in C++, using Microsoft Visual Studio (a free version is available), and Apple’s Xcode.
  • Unreal Engine 4 provides a rich suite of tools for content developers including the Blueprint visual scripting system, giving designers and artists unprecedented power to construct gameplay logic without programming; a visual material editor; the Persona animation system; and Matinee timeline-based machinima and cinematics system.
  • In addition to the new subscription model, Unreal Engine 4 can be licensed via custom-negotiated terms, for companies that wish to form a closer support relationship with Epic, or to reduce or eliminate the 5% royalty in exchange for up-front payment.
