Mufasa: The Lion King Official Trailer Released

Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” director Barry Jenkins and songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with cast members Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Theo Somolu, Braelyn Rankins and Anika Noni Rose, shared an exciting new trailer and poster with fans attending the studio showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The film capped the studio’s presentation tonight with a show-stopping performance of the classic “Nants’ Ingonyama” and new song “Ngomso” by Lebo M., who contributes to the film’s music, alongside a full choir. “Mufasa: The Lion King” releases only in theaters Dec. 20, 2024.

Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, “Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick. Told in flashbacks, the story introduces Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone until he meets a sympathetic lion named Taka—the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destiny—their bonds will be tested as they work together to evade a threatening and deadly foe.

In addition to the cast attending D23 this year, the film also features John Kani, Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Preston Nyman, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Keith David, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter, Folake Olowofoyeku, Joanna Jones, Thuso Mbedu, Sheila Atim, Abdul Salis, Dominique Jennings and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. Blending live-action filmmaking techniques with photoreal computer-generated imagery, the all-new feature film is produced by Adele Romanski & Mark Ceryak, and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen.

DISNEY ANIMATION’S MOANA 2 GETS NEW TRAILER

Chee hoo! Moana, Maui, Heihei, Pua the pig and the dart-wielding Kakamora are back—and that’s just for starters in the all-new big-screen adventure. A new trailer and poster are now available for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana 2,” opening in theaters on Nov. 27, 2024. The trailer received an enthusiastic response tonight when stars Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson—together on the D23 stage for the first time ever—shared it with fans attending the studio showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Cravalho wowed the audience with a live performance of one of the film’s new songs, “We’re Back,” with dancers and drummers from Nonosina Polynesia under the direction of Tiana Liufau—who contributed animation reference choreography to “Moana” and the new film—and Johnson led the audience in a rousing “chee hoo!” chant.

Also revealed were additional voice cast, including returning stars Rachel House (Moana’s Grandma, Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father, Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother, Sina). The film also features the voices of Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo as Moana’s new crew members Moni, Kele and Loto, respectively. Awhimai Fraser voices mysterious new character Matangi; Gerald Ramsey plays Moana’s ancestor, Tautai Vasa; and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda lends her voice to Moana’s adoring and adorable little sister, Simea.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ epic animated musical “Moana 2” reunites Moana (voice of Cravalho) and Maui (voice of Johnson) three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced. Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, “Moana 2” features music by Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. Attendees of the studio showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event were excited to see the first trailer for “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”. Fans welcomed star Jude Law to the stage and heard new details about the coming-of-age series that begins streaming on Disney+ on Dec. 3, 2024, with the first two episodes. “Skeleton Crew” follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy, crossing paths with the likes of Jod Na Nawood, the mysterious character played by Law. Finding their way home—and meeting unlikely allies and enemies—will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.

Straight out of QuakeCon, we’ve got some HELLISHLY awesome news to share with you! Video game remaster developer Nightdive Studios, Bethesda Softworks, and id Software have surprise launched enhanced editions of classic first-person shooters DOOM (1993) and DOOM II!

The definitive re-release of DOOM + DOOM II is available now on Windows PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG), PlayStation® 4|5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

Skybound Tabletop Announces Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game

Skybound Tabletop, a division of Skybound Entertainment, known for its blockbuster social party and light strategy games like Boo-ty Call, Trial by Trolley, Invincible: Escape from Mars, and more, today announced its licensing deal to launch a party game based on Creepshow. Releasing this fall, Creepshow: The Suspense Building Game, is based on the Eisner-award nominated comic book anthology from Skybound, which was originally inspired by Greg Nicotero’s hit Shudder TV series produced and licensed by Cartel Entertainment. The deal was brokered by Striker Entertainment.

Brian Witten is overseeing on behalf of Nicotero’s Monster Agency Productions.

World of Warships: Legends Celebrates Five Years

Today, on International Cat Day, publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer BlueTwelve Studio announced that the critically acclaimed award-winning cat adventure game Stray will release on Nintendo Switch on November 19.

Games today revealed a video tour of the Triwizard School pitches in Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, showcasing Beauxbatons Academy and Durmstrang Institute as referenced in the Harry Potter books and films. The game marks the first adaptation of these iconic wizarding world schools. The video provides a closer look at the schools’ Quidditch pitches, including a glimpse of their unique architecture, landscapes, and campus exteriors, as well as all new gameplay footage. As players progress through the Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Career Mode, they will take part in the Triwizard Schools Quidditch Cup, where they can represent one of the three magical schools in the ultimate Quidditch experience.
