Over 300k Players Join Age of Conan: Unchained in First Month

Funcom reports that over 300,000 new players have joined Age of Conan: Unchained in its first month of operation. Unchained is the new, free-to-play version of Age of Conan that also features a lot more mature content that had to be censored by order of the previous publisher.

“The launch of the hybrid business model has been very successful so far,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “The activity levels on the servers are booming with a fourfold increase in players during July, we more than doubled the revenue generated from the game, and we have experienced a positive development in subscriber numbers. This definitely gives us great hope for the game’s future.”

doublesix Announces Strike Suit Zero

doublesix has announced a return to the space combat titles of the classic gaming age (Wing Commander, X-Wing, etc) with their upcoming Strike Suit Zero. Due out on “game consoles” and the Windows PC platform sometime in early 2012, Strike Suit Zero is said to feature Robotech-style combat where players can transform their vehicles into various configurations.

“Strike Suit Zero is inspired by the classic space combat games we all love,” said Jim Mummery, Creative Director doublesix games.  “But our game goes further – it takes that inspiration, pumps up the pace and injects a massive sense of urgency to excite and challenge the player.”
