SEGA and The Creative Assembly have announced a new, downloadable campaign for their highly-acclaimed Total War: Shogun 2 titled “Rise of the Samurai”. Adding a ton of new content, the campaign will be available in September.
The Rise of the Samurai adds a brand new playable campaign to Total War: SHOGUN 2. The campaign can be played in both single and multiplayer modes. Six new playable clans, each with unique traits are also added for a brand new campaign experience. These clans come with sixteen new land units and ten new naval units between them offering a very different set of strategies to the would-be general. There are also four new hero units including the Tetsubo Warrior Monk Hero and the deadly female Onna Bushi Heroine. Additionally, the Rise of the Samurai expansion adds four new agent types, each with their own skill trees. From the seductress Shirabyoshi to the shrewd and zealous Junsatsushi Inspectors, each of these offers a brand new campaign experience. With all these clans, heroes, agents and units at your command you must ride with the first of the Samurai and decide the fate of the first ever Shogun of Japan.
Kalypso Media has announced Legends of Pegasus, an upcoming 4X space-sim in the vein of Master of Orion and Sword of the Stars, due out in 2012 for the Windows PC platform.

2K Sports has revealed the full soundtrack for their upcoming NBA 2K12, which is due out on October 4, 2011 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Wii, PSP, and Windows PC platforms.
“Music has always been an integral part of our NBA 2K video games, as it further immerses players into the world of basketball and enhances their gaming experience,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “It was important to us that the NBA 2K12 soundtrack was not only what you hear while navigating the menus, but also in real-life situations like pre-game highlight introductions and during timeouts, just as you would hear a song while at a game or watching on TV.”

Rebellion and 505 Games have released a new trailer for their upcoming, and long-awaited, Sniper Elite V2. This trailer shows off the game’s “kill cam”, which gets up-close and personal with a bullet’s damage effects on the human body.
“We’re really excited by the new teaser trailer for Sniper Elite V2,” Jason Kingsley, CEO of Rebellion, said. “It gives a sneak peek at the kind of action you can expect from the game, as well as the chance to see what makes it so unique. Larian Studios has announced Dragon Commander, an upcoming turn-based strategy/RPG where players command armies of dragons against one another. The game is due out next year for both Windows PC and game console platforms.

SteelSeries has announced a new gaming mouse called the “Sensei”. Due out in September for an MSRP of $89.99, the mouse represents the first in a new line of mice with illuminating properties – something SteelSeries has stayed away from for a while (they instead choose to focus on actual performance rather than flashy lights). This new mouse will feature a a 32-bit ARM CPU, allowing for a lot of on-device processing.

505 Games has announced that they will be showing off their upcoming Supremacy MMA fighting game at the PAX gaming expo, which runs from August 26 through August 28, 2011. Coming in 2012, EA Sports has announced EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis 2. Under development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, Grand Slam Tennis 2 will feature all four grand slam tennis tournaments and will be the only tennis title to feature the heralded court of Wimbledon.
“We are very excited to bring the EA SPORTS Grand Slam® Tennis franchise to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms and leverage the graphical power of these high definition consoles,” said Line Producer Thomas Singleton. “Players will now get to experience the excitement and drama of serving it up on prestigious tennis venues such as Wimbledon’s famed Centre Court.”

Funcom reports that over 300,000 new players have joined Age of Conan: Unchained in its first month of operation. Unchained is the new, free-to-play version of Age of Conan that also features a lot more mature content that had to be censored by order of the previous publisher.
“The launch of the hybrid business model has been very successful so far,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “The activity levels on the servers are booming with a fourfold increase in players during July, we more than doubled the revenue generated from the game, and we have experienced a positive development in subscriber numbers. This definitely gives us great hope for the game’s future.”
