The Top 10 Most Social Video Game Companies

3289189_300

The folks over at the Dachis Group have utilized their marketing analysis platform and released a list of the top 1o most-social video game companies, based on their social media/user-interaction.

The List

  • #1 Sony
    • The creator of PlayStation seems to have landed on the perfect mix of audience size, brand publishing, and subscriber engagement. Whether it is content propagation, Engagement, or subscribers it’s rare to see Sony drop out of the # 1 or # 2 spots in each performance measurement – kudos to them for superior performance across the board. It’s no wonder that they have an audience base of 49,260,647 fans.
  • #2 Electronic Arts
    • Who doesn’t love a game of Madden, or for that matter Crysis? Much like Activision, EA has an enormous social audience, but EA has an edge in the number of its subscribers that participate in the conversation EA promotes. This propels EA to #2 overall in the rankings.
  • #3 Activision
    • With a whopping 63,263,857 fan base, Activision is the top brand among all publishers in terms of raw audience and the attention that comes with it, but their broadcasting to engagement ratio is higher relative to other brands on the list. And as a result they have to settle for “just” 3rd overall.
  • #4 Nintendo
    • Nintendo revived its fortunes by making gaming social enough for anyone to take part. The same is true for their social presence where they are the #3 brand when it comes to the number of fans, 37,547,649 strong, and #2 in the number of branded conversation participants.
  • #5 Konami
    • The strength of Konami’s content is clear in their propagation score (how frequently people repost brand content), where they rank second only to Sony. Konami ranks no lower than 8th in any other category among the various gaming brands.
  • #6 Warner Brothers
    • Warner Brothers isn’t known first and foremost for its games like many of the ranked brands, but it is riding an outpouring of passionate praise for the Batman Arkham so that it stands as #6 in the rankings.
  • #7 Rockstar Games
    • Rockstar ranks #3 in audience participation and does well in every every social metric relative to the competition. News of the upcoming GTA5 propelled Rockstar to its #7 rank.
  • #8 Ubisoft
    • Ubisoft has a smaller audience, 5,673,607 fans, then some of the other brands on this list, but its passion, positivity, and content more than makes up for it. The brand ranks second overall for advocacy among gaming publishers.
  • #9 Microsoft
    • The maker of the Xbox and the Kinect puts up impressive numbers for their audience size, 11,421,575 fans, but what really solidifies their #9 spot is their audience satisfaction score, where they rank #3.
  • #10 Epic Games
    • Despite having the smallest audience size, 1,091,644 fans, Epic ranks #2 in satisfaction and #1 in passion. No doubt part of this is in part due to their massive user forum. Well played, Epic.

Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved Soundtrack Details

Fantasia_LogoJPEG-XL

BURBANK, Calif. – (August 12, 2013) – Disney Interactive and Harmonix Music Systems have teamed up with award-winning composer Inon Zur to develop original music for the game “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved,” a breakthrough musical motion video game inspired by Walt Disney’s classic animated film “Fantasia.” To celebrate this announcement, Zur conducted some of the orchestral classics that will appear in “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” with the Disney Chamber Ensemble at Disney’s D23 Expo, the ultimate Disney fan event, and Disney Interactive released ‘The Evolution of Disney Fantasia’ trailer that can now be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/FantasiaGame.

Zur, a Hollywood Music Award winning and BAFTA nominated composer, is internationally renowned for his emotionally dynamic orchestral music scores featured in film, television and interactive entertainment. Zur’s rich portfolio includes epic action/adventure and fantasy scores for major video game franchises including “Prince of Persia,” “The Lord of the Rings” (Classical MPR 2011 Best Video Game Soundtracks), “Dragon Age” (Hollywood Music Award Winner and Forbes’ Top Ten Video Game Soundtracks of All Time), “EverQuest” and “Fallout”, which earned him British Academy of Film and Television Arts and Spike TV video game awards nominations for Best Original Music (“Fallout 3”).

“Working with a versatile composer like Inon Zur was critical to developing the innovative type of gameplay we are introducing with ‘Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved’,” said Eran Egozy, co-founder and chief technical officer of Harmonix Music Systems. “Zur’s innate understanding of music’s role in gaming allowed us to create original arrangements that will let players experience music like never before.”

Zur composed, conducted and produced many of the original orchestral themes for the game and collaborated closely with Disney Interactive and Harmonix to produce innovative new recordings of classical symphonies by the great composers including Mussorgsky and Vivaldi. He also produced and arranged the orchestral version of Queen’s iconic rock opera “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the game. Zur recently recorded these classical songs for “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” with the London Symphony Orchestra and The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields at Abbey Road.

“Working with Disney and Harmonix on Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved was a great adventure for me,” said Inon Zur. “Recording and producing classical masterpieces, as well as writing original music that had to coexist with the works of the great classical composers presented exciting new challenges. The amazingly talented music composers and producers from Harmonix and Disney supported and guided me throughout this groundbreaking, creative process. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this world-class team and am extremely excited to share all that we’ve done together with you, the player.”

Using Kinect™ motion control technology for Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and the Xbox 360® games and entertainment system, and natural, controller-free gameplay, players will control the music flow from some of the industry’s biggest acts. “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” gives players the creative power to change their favorite songs in real-time, combining the original recording and new remixed versions, or creating new layers of music via magical manipulators that allow them to change music in exciting and surprising new ways!

“Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” will feature over 30 tracks from leading artists and classical composers, each featuring two unique remixes in addition to the original recording. The current announced artists and songs, including the just-announced classical track by Vivaldi, that will appear in the “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” video game include:

  • Antonio Vivaldi – “Four Seasons: Winter: 1st Movement”
  • AVICII – “Levels”
  • Bruno Mars – “Locked Out Of Heaven”
  • Fun. – “Some Nights”
  • Kimbra – “Settle Down”
  • Modest Mussorgsky – “Night on Bald Mountain”
  • Queen – “Bohemian Rhapsody”

“Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved,” will be available for Xbox One®, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Kinect™ for Xbox 360® in 2014. “Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved” is currently not rated by the ESRB.
