Dead Island 2 Second Story Expansion SoLA Coming Next Month

Dead Island 2’s second story expansion – SoLA – is bringing deadly beats to Xbox and PlayStation – and on PC via the Epic Games Store – on April 17.

Stage dive into the heart of SoLA, the ultimate Californian music festival, built upon ancient grounds. Stalking the pulsating heart of LA’s final rave is a psychedelic beat that has unleashed total chaos, leaving nothing but a rotting crater of gore and a malevolent presence haunting the shadows. Something is out there and it’s still hungry.

The SoLA DLC will contain the following:

  • New Storyline: A deadly virus sweeps through The Valley, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies as a chthonic rhythm calls from beyond: the beat of the Autophage. Lured to the festival by an enigmatic warning message, players must explore SoLA’s ruins and put a stop to this otherworldly menace.
  • New Location: A visceral, gore-drenched music festival in the heart of HELL-A echoing to the sound of The Beat which threatens to turn the living into zombies and could soon make its way out of the forsaken city and across the globe.
  • New Enemies: Including the Whipper, a new apex variant enemy, driven mad with self-loathing by the Autophage. Their compulsion to self-mutilate has turned them into a horrific nightmare of disemboweled intestines, allowing them to lash out at range. Along with this mangled creature is the Clotter, another new unsettling apex zombie, that can decompose into a revolting pile of gore, making it immune from damage in that form, and then reform elsewhere to continue the fight. Capable of firing a powerful jet of putrid blood from their heart, it’s deadly both up close and at a distance.
  • New Legendary Weapons: Tear the undead apart with the Ripper, a deadly fusion of a baseball bat and circular saw into a percussive machine of dismemberment. For slicing at a distance, try the Sawblade Launcher: a heavy weapon firing rotary sawblades, this is the perfect weapon for ranged decapitation and dismemberment.

Dead Island 2 is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via the Epic Games Store. SoLA is slated to launch across the same platforms on April 17.

Broken Roads Release Date Trailer

Independent game studio Drop Bear Bytes are proud to reveal their upcoming isometric RPG Broken Roads is coming to Steam, PlayStation and Xbox consoles on April 10th, with the Nintendo Switch version to follow soon after that.

Broken Roads is a narrative-driven RPG that brings exploration, strategic turn-based combat and meaningful philosophical choices to an all-new Australian post-apocalyptic setting. Broken Roads skillfully blends traditional and all-new role-playing elements on top of a classless system offering near-unlimited character development options built around four philosophies: Humanist, Utilitarian, Machiavellian, and Nihilist. Furthermore the game presents players with an original morality system: the Moral Compass which sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence, and be influenced by, a character’s philosophical leaning and the tough decisions they make along the way.

Broken Roads’ locations are all authentic recreated from the team visiting towns and landmarks in West Australia and taking photos, videos and audio recordings for it to be as true as possible. Furthermore, even the game’s atmospheric soundtrack composed by Tim Sunderland is composed with instruments constructed from everyday objects which brings a wholly unique and distinctive tone to the game.

“We appreciate the community’s patience in allowing us to give Broken Roads the polish and attention it needed to get to the finish line,” said Craig Ritchie, Game Director at Drop Bear Bytes. “Broken Roads is now in its best state ever, with more polish, more voice acting, over 400,000 words of dialogue and more than 150,000 end-game permutations. We hope you all have an amazing time playing it.”

“Broken Roads is a damn big deal. Post apocalyptic, deep conversations, applied philosophy, weirdness wired in, and Australia? Yeah, this game has got it all,” said Colin McComb, Creative Lead on Broken Roads, who previously worked on Fallout 2, Planescape: Torment, Wasteland 2, and Torment: Tides of Numenera.

EVE Vanguard Content Update Released

Today, CCP Games released the first content update for EVE Vanguard, the sci-fi sandbox FPS set in the EVE Universe currently in early development at CCP’s London studio. The update introduces a mining laser prototype, a new combat suit for the Vanguard warclones, and new contracts that give Vanguard mercenaries a choice between sides in the ongoing struggle between order and disorder in New Eden, deepening the game’s connection to EVE Online. Founder’s Access members can experience the new content from today until March 25, 2024. Founders Access is available for all EVE Online accounts with an active Omega subscription.

“We’re dedicated to developing EVE Vanguard hand-in-hand with our passionate community,” said Scott Davis, Lead Product Manager at CCP London. “Showcasing the prototype mining laser and evolution of the warclone suit reinforces our dedication to an open development process where players can tangibly impact the game’s direction.”

“As EVE Vanguard continues to evolve, the community’s feedback following each First Strike playtest has led us to make subtle yet impactful enhancements to gameplay,” said Emily Akland, Senior Brand Manager for EVE Vanguard. “The new mining laser prototype brings a strategic layer to resource gathering and is the first demonstration of our commitment to delivering our vision for the ultimate sci-fi sandbox FPS experience.”

Features of EVE Vanguard’s March update include:

  • Mining Laser Prototype: Seize valuable mineral resources with the mining laser. Carefully survey the environment to identify surface deposits and extract ore from nodes, essential for accomplishing contract objectives.
  • Mining and Salvage Contracts: Directly contribute to Suppression or Corruption efforts on the front lines of New Eden. Each completed contract feeds into the ongoing interstellar conflict, including skirmishes over territory in the warzones, the ongoing pirate insurgency and overarching territorial alignment, intertwining EVE Vanguard gameplay with the persistent world of EVE Online.
  • New Warclone Suit: Equip a sleek suit with a slimmer profile, designed with dexterity in mind. The new suit’s unique appearance enables Vanguard mercenaries to visually distinguish fellow players from hostile NPCs on the battlefield for enhanced tactical awareness.

As with all previous First Strike playtests, players can compete to gain rewards. By completing contracts and successfully extracting, Vanguard mercenaries will be placed on a leaderboard that will handsomely reward the top 10 players with up to 3000 PLEX.
