Beyerdynamic MMX 200 Wireless Headset Review

Beyerdynamic, a name synonymous with high-fidelity audio, has stepped into the competitive arena of wireless gaming headsets with the MMX 200 Wireless. This headset is a bold statement from the brand, promising to merge its studio-grade sound legacy with the convenience and low-latency requirements of gaming. But does the MMX 200 Wireless live up to its promise? Let’s dive in.

True to Beyerdynamic form, the MMX 200 Wireless doesn’t go overboard with flashy RGB or futuristic angles. Its design exudes sleek professionalism. Durable metal construction in the headband and hinges inspires confidence, while the soft memory foam earpads offer a snug fit.

While initial clamping force might feel a bit high, it eventually eases to provide an excellent seal and passive noise isolation. For longer sessions, the headset remains comfortable, though those with larger heads may eventually feel a touch of fatigue.

This is where the MMX 200 Wireless truly stands out. Powered by Beyerdynamic’s renowned 40mm drivers, it delivers a sound signature remarkably close to that of its wired studio counterparts. Expect a wide soundstage with exceptional detail and clarity across the frequency spectrum. Bass is present yet precise, avoiding the muddy boominess frequently found in gaming headsets. Mids are natural, and highs are crisp, providing an excellent level of positional awareness for footsteps and environmental cues in-game.

The MMX 200 Wireless works great as a music headset too. Complex, instrument-heavy pieces shine, as the headset does an outstanding job of separating individual elements without compromising the overall mix.

The detachable “META VOICE” cardioid condenser microphone is a star feature of the MMX 200 Wireless. Your voice comes through with remarkable clarity and a natural tone. Your teammates will appreciate the difference, especially in noisy environments. The detachable design grants flexibility, as the headset can double as high-quality wireless headphones for music or simply when you don’t need a microphone.

The MMX 200 Wireless offers both Bluetooth 5.3 and low-latency 2.4 GHz connectivity using the included USB-A dongle. Switching between modes is seamless with the “META LINK” button. The “Augmented Mode” blends game audio with audio from a connected Bluetooth device, a neat feature for phone calls or listening to music without missing in-game cues.

Surprisingly absent is any form of active noise cancellation (ANC), and the lack of a companion app for EQ adjustments will disappoint those who like to fine-tune their sound. Battery life, at up to 26 hours, is decent but not groundbreaking either.

The Beyerdynamic MMX 200 Wireless is a niche product. It prioritizes audio fidelity and microphone quality above flashier features. If you’re an audiophile gamer who wants a headset that doubles as accurate studio-grade headphones, the MMX 200 Wireless is an excellent choice. It’s a testament to Beyerdynamic sticking to what it does best—excellent sound.

However, if you’re looking for extensive customization features, RGB lighting, ANC, or the longest battery life, consider some of the other feature-packed wireless gaming headsets in the same price range. The MMX 200 Wireless is for discerning gamers who appreciate a refined, studio-inspired audio experience over bells and whistles.

Heyup Boxe Lite Projector Review

Projectors often fall into extremes. They’re either hefty, expensive home theater powerhouses or underpowered, overly portable models that compromise image quality. The Heyup Boxe Lite aims to strike a delightful balance – a cute and compact projector that still delivers a surprisingly enjoyable big-screen experience.

It’s impossible to ignore the Heyup Boxe Lite’s design. Its cube shape with rounded edges and vibrant orange color (other colors are available) give it a playful, almost toy-like aesthetic. This immediately sets it apart from the typically stoic black boxes that dominate the projector world. While design is subjective, there’s no denying the Boxe Lite has a charm factor that works in its favor, especially if you’re looking for a projector to blend into living spaces or kids’ rooms.

As the name ‘Lite’ suggests, portability is central to the Heyup Boxe Lite. It’s small enough to fit comfortably in a backpack and lightweight enough that you won’t think twice about taking it on trips. This doesn’t come with the sacrifice of a built-in battery. It does need to be plugged in, but its size and weight make finding a power outlet and setting it up less of a hassle.

Let’s be clear: the Heyup Boxe Lite isn’t out to compete with high-end home theater projectors. It’s a 1080p projector with a moderate brightness level. If you manage your expectations, the Boxe Lite has plenty to offer. In a darkened room, it can project an image between 80 and 120 inches with surprising clarity and decent color representation. While not the most vibrant projector, the image is sharp enough to enjoy movies and TV shows without feeling like you’re making major sacrifices.

The modest brightness does mean you’ll get the best results in a fully darkened room. Some ambient light is tolerable, but a brightly lit space will wash out the image significantly. This makes the Boxe Lite ideal for cozy movie nights or transforming a bedroom into a personal cinema, rather than daytime presentations or replacing your main TV.

One of the major advantages of the Heyup Boxe Lite is its built-in Android 9.0 OS. This gives you access to a wide variety of streaming apps directly on the projector. No need to plug in Chromecast, Roku, or other streaming devices, streamlining your setup. Android TV’s interface is smooth and easy to navigate with the included remote. However, some popular apps may be unavailable or have older versions.

Connectivity on the Boxe Lite is adequate. There’s an HDMI port for external devices like gaming consoles or streaming sticks, as well as a USB port for flash drives. It also includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, letting you stream content wirelessly from your phone or tablet.

The Heyup Boxe Lite features built-in speakers, and while they won’t blow you away with their power or depth, they’re surprisingly decent for a projector this size. The sound is clear enough for dialogue, and there’s even a hint of bass. For a more immersive audio experience, you can easily connect an external Bluetooth speaker.

One of the best things about the Heyup Boxe Lite is how quiet it operates, measuring under 30dB. It won’t distract you from your movie, even during quiet scenes. This, alongside the projector’s efficient cooling system, means you don’t have to worry about distracting fan noise or overheating during longer movie marathons.

If you’re looking for an affordable, portable projector that delivers a surprisingly good image for its size, the Heyup Boxe Lite is a fantastic option. Its user-friendly interface, built-in Android TV, and charming design add to its appeal. While it may not be the brightest or most powerful projector on the market, it offers a delightful blend of portability, features, and value that makes it a worthy consideration – especially for casual movie nights, a cozy backyard cinema, or setting up a kids’ movie room.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Launches Today

Today Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, released the highly anticipated action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma™ 2 on PlayStation®5 (PS5®), Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. This sequel to the 2012 classic Dragon’s Dogma™ features a richly detailed and deeply explorable fantasy world built using Capcom’s RE ENGINE, where individual choices and creativity allow players to shape their own experience. In addition to the standard version of Dragon’s Dogma 2 available for MSRP $69.99, a Deluxe Edition containing the “New Journey Pack” includes in-game items to help your Arisen on their journey, such as a Wakestone, Rift Crystals, a Dragon’s Dogma Music and Sound Collection, access to a custom Camping Kit, and more that will be available for MSRP $79.99. Pre-orders of the Standard Edition will feature a bonus weapon for each of the four starting vocations, and Deluxe Edition pre-orders will also include the Ring of Assurance in-game accessory.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a narrative-driven action RPG that places players in an immersive fantasy world as the Arisen, a champion whose heart is stolen by the Dragon. You will lead a party of up to three AI companions known as Pawns, including your custom main Pawn, and up to two additional Pawns that can be recruited offline or from other players while online. While the sequel’s setting mirrors the lush rolling hills of the classic Dragon’s Dogma™ and its Dark Arisen expansion, this original adventure takes place in a parallel world containing two nations with distinct approaches to the Dragon threat. Queen Regent Disa has installed a false Arisen to maintain control of the kingdom of Vermund for her son. Meanwhile, the beastren nation of Battahl considers the otherworldly Pawns to be a source of misfortune and have turned to worship of the Lambent Flame and their high priestess Nadinia to ward off calamity.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 harnesses the power of the RE ENGINE to create a world map approximately four times the size of the original world of Dragon’s Dogma and is densely populated with enemies, events, and locations rendered with the latest graphical technology. The environment is complemented by immersive physics and character AI that brings Pawns, monsters, and NPCs to life. Pawns organically guide players to new locations, dynamically cooperate during battle, and even react to special moments such as celebrating narrow victories with high-fives. Monsters new and old encourage players to devise numerous strategies to succeed in combat, or even avoid it all together. NPCs, such as the bow-wielding Ulrika who has a deep connection to the Arisen, Nadinia the high priestess of the beastren, or a variety of other unique characters will form intricate relationships with the Arisen that set the stage for nuanced story moments. Shape your own adventure through the relationships you form with over 1000 NPCs that inhabit this world.

Before embarking on each quest of your journey, it is essential to organize your party: understand each member’s strengths and weaknesses; decide what your strategy will be; and tactically select the Vocations for your Arisen, Main Pawn, and hired Pawns. The choice is yours to form a balanced party spread across multiple vocations, a purely offensive party of magical powerhouses, a burly crew of two-handed warriors, or anything in between. When players start their journey in Dragon’s Dogma 2, they will be able to choose their desired playstyle among the four initially available Vocations: Fighter, Archer, Thief, and Mage. Players can change the vocation of their Arisen and main Pawn at any time by visiting Vocation Guilds throughout the world and unlock new vocations such as the Mystic Spearhand, Trickster, and Warfarer as they progress through the game by finding and forming bonds with the Maisters of each vocation. Players interested in getting a head start on designing their Arisen and Main Pawn can download the “Character Creator & Storage” tool, available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. This tool allows players to create five designs for their Arisen and Main Pawn that will be instantly transferred to the full game.

Dead Island 2 Second Story Expansion SoLA Coming Next Month

Dead Island 2’s second story expansion – SoLA – is bringing deadly beats to Xbox and PlayStation – and on PC via the Epic Games Store – on April 17.

Stage dive into the heart of SoLA, the ultimate Californian music festival, built upon ancient grounds. Stalking the pulsating heart of LA’s final rave is a psychedelic beat that has unleashed total chaos, leaving nothing but a rotting crater of gore and a malevolent presence haunting the shadows. Something is out there and it’s still hungry.

The SoLA DLC will contain the following:

  • New Storyline: A deadly virus sweeps through The Valley, turning its inhabitants into ravenous zombies as a chthonic rhythm calls from beyond: the beat of the Autophage. Lured to the festival by an enigmatic warning message, players must explore SoLA’s ruins and put a stop to this otherworldly menace.
  • New Location: A visceral, gore-drenched music festival in the heart of HELL-A echoing to the sound of The Beat which threatens to turn the living into zombies and could soon make its way out of the forsaken city and across the globe.
  • New Enemies: Including the Whipper, a new apex variant enemy, driven mad with self-loathing by the Autophage. Their compulsion to self-mutilate has turned them into a horrific nightmare of disemboweled intestines, allowing them to lash out at range. Along with this mangled creature is the Clotter, another new unsettling apex zombie, that can decompose into a revolting pile of gore, making it immune from damage in that form, and then reform elsewhere to continue the fight. Capable of firing a powerful jet of putrid blood from their heart, it’s deadly both up close and at a distance.
  • New Legendary Weapons: Tear the undead apart with the Ripper, a deadly fusion of a baseball bat and circular saw into a percussive machine of dismemberment. For slicing at a distance, try the Sawblade Launcher: a heavy weapon firing rotary sawblades, this is the perfect weapon for ranged decapitation and dismemberment.

Dead Island 2 is currently available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via the Epic Games Store. SoLA is slated to launch across the same platforms on April 17.
