WGL Challenger Rumble Declares Its Winners

November 21, 2016 — This weekend, the 6 best teams from the EU, APAC and NA regions fought for 2 tickets to the Champions Rumble in Moscow and cash prizes. After a day of intense brawling, Ding took a resounding win over Kazna Kru, with both teams earning tickets to Champion’s Rumble.

Looking onwards and upwards, these two will have to work on their tactics and prepare for the Champions Rumble, the ultimate showdown in the World of Tanks calendar. At the Champions Rumble, they will truly define who the best team is and take their slice of the $160,000 prize pool.

This year’s final fight will be taking place at WG Fest on December 17, the massive community gathering in Moscow, Russia, that shows off all things Wargaming. Thousands will be watching the Challenger Rumble champs face off with World Champion Na’Vi and the runner-up of the CIS Season 1 Finals, HellRaisers, to claim a ticket for the Grand Finals 2017.

However, who can forget that the Challenger Rumble also etched its first World of Tanks Blitz World Champion in history? C4 beat TEAM ID to take both the trophy and the cash back home. We couldn’t have stuffed any more eSports action into one weekend if we tried.

Dawn of Andromeda Coming to Steam Early Access December 1

Haarlem, The Netherlands – November 21, 2016 –  Publisher Iceberg Interactive announces today that their 4X space RTS ‘Dawn of Andromeda’ (PC) will launch on Steam’s Early Access program on December 1st, 2016. Earlier this year the game enjoyed a very successful closed beta program, accumulating tremendous feedback and suggestions from a dedicated group of testers. Having taken giant strides forward since then, and having undergone extensive Quality Assurance, developer GreyWolf Entertainment is now eager to put the current advanced beta in front of a much wider audience, in Early Access. Given the remaining development roadmap and gamer requests, they currently anticipate the game to stay in early access for approximately three months, releasing in March 2017.

Iceberg Interactive CEO Erik Schreuder says “Despite the avalanche of releases occurring in Q4, we feel that Dawn of Andromeda stands out from the crowd and is polished enough to take the leap during this busy window. It has been quite a while since a solid and engaging 4X space RTS title has emerged between the many turn-based competitors and we expect many real-time 4X strategy fans to jump on board and grab their chance to make an impact.”

Dawn of Andromeda is a plausible, real-time space 4X game focused on providing a fun, immersive and accessible experience. It allows you to build your empire, colonize new planets, interact with other factions and characters, research new technologies and build fleets so powerful your enemies will tremble. On top of that, the game brings you a galaxy filled with diverse factions, outlaws, merchants, pirate clans and mercenaries but also anomalies, black holes, ancient artifacts, ruins and much more.

Dawn of Andromeda will launch December 1 on Steam’s Early Access program at $24.99.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/427570.

Features:

  • Explore, expand, exploit and exterminate in this real-time space strategy game, featuring real-time combat in a dynamic and ever-evolving galaxy
  • New factions and characters can join the fray mid-game; artifacts, ruins, anomalies and a huge variety of fascinating elements are scattered throughout the galaxy and can yield new research opportunities. Various characters such as outlaws, merchants and others roam the galaxy
  • Asymmetric gameplay. Not all races discover space travel at the same time, some may have yet to discover it, some may have already built a mighty empire, and some races may be naturally stronger than others. However, if you’d prefer a traditional 4X experience and start an entirely symmetric game, it’s up to you
  • Pre-designed, customizable and randomly generated races, each with their unique backgrounds and traits
  • Accessible gameplay, featuring a highly-intuitive User Interface
  • Eras; unique scenarios, each with a pre-designed galaxy and background stories which you can play as one of the existing factions, each with their own victory conditions, traits, challenges and ongoing conflicts and relationships
  • Choose between researching pre-fabricated or randomly generated ship designs, or alternatively research and discover ship parts, allowing you to create your own unique shop designs from them
  • In-depth diplomacy system. Create or join coalitions, make allies and enemies, but beware, each action you take can change how the rest of the galaxy will view you. Destroying an entire planet, or just praising or denouncing another race, can have a deep impact on the balance of the entire galaxy
  • Reduce micro-management by appointing governors to your colonies and council members to your empire, all of whom can be leveled up. Each come with their own unique traits, happiness and experiences
  • Multiple, customizable victory conditions, which can never be set to vary for each faction, making for unpredictable friends and foes

Thrustmaster Announces T.16000M FCS Flight Pack

Rennes, November 22, 2016 — Thrustmaster is thrilled to announce that it will now be offering a full set of next-generation flight controls, with its new T.16000M FCS Flight Pack. This exciting new pack includes the T.16000M FCS flight stick, the TWCS throttle and the TFRP rudder pedals system. The T.16000M FCS Flight Pack features cutting-edge technologies such as H.E.A.R.T (HallEffect AccuRate Technology™) on the flight stick, and S.M.A.R.T (Sliding Motion Advanced Rail Tracks) on the throttle and rudder pedals, for ultra-realistic flight experiences.

thrustmaster-16000m-2

The heart of the pack: the super-precise T.16000M FCS

The T.16000M FCS flight stick provides 4 independent axes, including a twist rudder controlled by rotating the stick. It ensures high-precision performance – perfectly responding to every movement made by the pilot – by way of its integrated H.E.A.R.T* HallEffect AccuRate Technology™ via 3D (Hall Effect) magnetic sensors, in particular. The numbers speak for themselves: the T.16000M FCS flight stick makes possible a level of precision 256 times greater than that provided by current systems (16-bit resolution, for a mind-blowing 16,000 x 16,000 values in total!). The stick includes 16 action buttons with “braille”-style physical button identification (particularly useful in virtual reality games), one 8-way Point of View (PoV) hat switch, and an ergonomic trigger.

Perfectly smooth throttle control with the TWCS Throttle

The T.16000M FCS Flight Pack also includes a throttle featuring a particularly innovative design: the TWCS Throttle. The TWCS is equipped with S.M.A.R.T technology, which consists of an exclusive slide rails system for perfectly smooth and precise throttle movements. The TWCS Throttle offers 5 axes (with 16-bit resolution – for a total of 65,635 values – on the throttle’s axis), 14 action buttons, one mini-stick, one toggle rudder, one rotary radio antenna control wheel, and a connector for the TFRP rudder pedals system.

After the hands-on HOTAS comes the foot-controlled TFRP Rudder Pedals

The S.M.A.R.T technology incorporated into the throttle also features in the final hardware component of the T.16000M FCS Flight Pack: the TFRP Rudder Pedals. This rudder employs a unique system of 4 slide rails for super-smooth, high-precision sliding motions. A self-centering rudder axis strikes the perfect balance between smoothness and resistance for re-centering. What’s more, the pedals’ heel-rests are removable: with them removed, the pilot controls the rudder using the ball of his or her foot, heel on the floor; while with the heel-rests in place, the pilot can rest his or her entire foot on the pedal. This versatility is a definite advantage in terms of adapting to different piloting styles. The base of the TFRP Rudder Pedals is large and on an incline, for enhanced comfort and stability. The differential braking function is facilitated by way of the 2 differential brake pedals (each measuring 10 inches/25 cm – 12/45 shoe size) featuring a rounded central pivot with a central grip. The pedals’ pivot angle has a 15° range of travel: on an incline for deliberate activation, avoiding inadvertent activation when using the rudder.

T.A.R.G.E.T programming software: the ultimate utility

To this comprehensive pack of three hardware devices, Thrustmaster has added a software element with an amazing amount of power and usefulness: T.A.R.G.E.T, which stands for Thrustmaster Advanced pRogramming Graphical EdiTor. T.A.R.G.E.T lets users combine the pack’s different hardware components so that they are recognized as a single USB device, for example – amongst many other possibilities. Each component can be configured according to the needs of the user and/or of the game being played, all via the drag and drop principle for more intuitive use.

Thanks to these many great features, the T.16000M FCS Flight Pack has been named an Honoree in the Gaming category for the Innovation Awards at the upcoming CES – the world’s largest trade show dedicated to innovation and technology – taking place in Las Vegas from January 5-8, 2017.

• The T.16000M FCS Flight Pack will be available from December 2016, at a suggested retail price of $199.99

ROCCAT Suora FX RGB Review

Recently, we got the chance to take a look at ROCCAT’s Suora FX RGB gaming keyboard. The Suora FX RGB features ROCCAT’s signature black and dark gray body and very little extra framing around the key area. With the Suora FX RGB, it’s all about the function and the form factor is very compact despite it being a full keyboard with numeric keypad.

The Suora FX RGB has some seriously impressive LED back-lighting that is capable of up to 16.8 million colors. How impressive is that? Well, according to Wikipedia, the human eye is only capable of distinguishing 10 million colors!

Setting up the Suora FX RGB is easy and utilizes ROCCAT’s integrated Swarm software suite. Unlike other multi-device control suites from peripheral-makers, ROCCAT’s Swarm even has an app for your smartphone that allows full control of your devices from your phone. There have been some reports of issues with the lighting system on Windows 10 machines, but a week ago ROCCAT released a patch for this problem, so you should be good to go.

Typing on the keyboard is very nice, and it has a great “clicky” action that pushes you forward to continue on. I put the keyboard through its paces with Star Wars: Battlefront, Dragon Age Inquisition (doing a replay of it), and Civilization VI. Whether it was the fast-paced combat of Battlefront or the slower gameplay of Civilization VI, the ROCCAT Suora FX RGB performed great.

Unfortunately, the ROCCAT Suora FX RGB does have a couple drawbacks. The biggest for me is the lack of a USB pass-through port on the back of the keyboard. These are space saving godsends when available, as it allows you to route your mouse or Bluetooth dongle on the keyboard directly. Also, while the minimalist design is beneficial in some cases, I found it rather uncomfortable without a wrist rest – your mileage may vary.

Overall, the ROCCAT Suora FX RGB is a terrific gaming keyboard for $139.95 and will provide you with the performance and response you need to be successful in your gaming efforts. It might be a bit too bare bones for gamers who need all the bells and whistles, such as on-keyboard profile switching, but the Suora FX RGB is stylish, responsive keyboard with an impressive back-lighting system.

Master of Orion Gets Revenge of Antares DLC on Dec 1

November 18, 2016 — The battle to conquer Orion is set to become even more challenging. On December 1, Master of Orion’s anticipated “Revenge of Antares” DLC will become available, giving access to independent civilizations, a new victory condition and more. The expansion also introduces three new playable races to the massive galaxy. Arriving in the DLC expansions are the Trilarians, Gnolam, and Elerians—formidable aliens that will open up new paths to victory as commanders strive for dominance of the galaxy.

“We’re excited to introduce new content for players of Master of Orion,” said Jacob Beucler, Publishing Product Director for Master of Orion. “They will find themselves in a new environment, filled with new challengers, adventures and enemies to face off with or forge an alliance with. This content will add new dimensions to the game’s already robust lore.”

Three of the newly available races (Trilarian, Gnolam and Elerian) can be purchased in a single bundle. With the addition of these playable races, the possibilities and strategy multiplies as players forge their galactic destiny in even more unique ways.

Additionally, as a response to the dedicated Master of Orion player community, a free expansion will also be offered to all players. This expansion deepens the gameplay by allowing them the ability to recruit new leaders to their side, battle the fourth new, non-playable race, the Antarans, and interact with independent civilizations.

So, just who are these new alien races and what roles do they play in Master of Orion? The aquatic Trilarian are a peaceful race that has abandoned the concept of war. However, when a true threat presents itself, their resolute honor compels them to fiercely fight for their objective.

The Gnolams are known as the most skilled traders in the galaxy, basking in the decadence that their wealth and luck brings them. This charmed race is the constant benefactor of good fortune, making them great allies or cunning enemies.

The elegant yet xenophobic Elerians, present an interesting and exclusive aspect to the game. They will trade and communicate with other races, yet reject any potential negative alien influence on the Elerian culture. This resistance to all outside cultures makes them uncompromising foes.

The Antarans are a mysterious race genetically engineered by ancient and unknown masters. In time, they have become deeply war driven, bent on a fervent path of galactic expansion. Heavily militarized and despotic, the Antarans move through the galaxy bending all they encounter to their will.

Master of Orion DLC will be purchasable for $9.99 via Steam and GoG.com

With a rich suite of lore-inspired campaign and battle mechanics, Total War: WARHAMMER’s first Elven race offers a playstyle unlike any other. Ranging forth from the enchanted forests of Athel Loren, they may capture any settlement in The Old World and set up expansionary outposts.

In battle, they offer a swift, glass-cannon playstyle. By far the most powerful and versatile archers in the game, they can equip a range of magical arrows, fire on the move, and are often joined by their Woodland allies such as Dryads, Great Eagles, Forest Dragons and vast, ancient Treemen.

With epic new Legendary Lords, Heroes, battlefield units, monsters, magic and more, Realm of The Wood Elves is available to preorder now. Complete details and features may be found here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/534331/
