hallway_lily

Wakefield, UK – 13th October 2015 – Games industry veteran and independent games label Team17 are incredibly pleased to confirm details of their latest partner and game signing, Lilith’s first person next-gen survival horror game, Allison Road.

Allison Road recently hit Kickstarter after a great response from its community and press that saw their prototype gameplay video receive over 1.9 million views on YouTube. The game was on track to fund towards the end of October, however by joining Team17’s games’ label it will allow Allison Road’s creators to focus 100% on the game whilst having resources, experience and support available to them.

Debbie Bestwick, Team17’s CEO said “Allison Road is exactly the kind of game we are looking for to expand our label’s portfolio, the game is absolutely stunning and I look forward to helping Chris and his team on their journey. Our label was created by games developers for games developers and has been built in such a way to allow games makers of all sizes to focus 100% on the most important aspect ‘The Game’.”

Chris Kesler, owner of Lilith added, “We were incredibly excited when we received the call from Team17. Whilst signing with them was never in question, we were however faced with the decision to either carry on with our Kickstarter campaign or to withdraw from the program and get started straight away.  After much deliberation, we chose the latter and are now looking forward to working with Team17 and accessing their vast resources to really take Allison Road to the next level”.

Further details on Allison Road will be available early 2016.

The Park Gets First Gameplay Trailer

The_Park_Screenshot_5_1080

Oslo, Norway – October 9th, 2015 – Earlier this year, independent game development studio Funcom announced it was working on ‘The Park’, a psychological horror experience and its first single-player game in almost ten years. A short, but intense experience, ‘The Park’ puts players into the shoes of Lorraine, a mother whose son goes missing in a mysterious and terrifying theme park.

This new video offers both a glimpse behind the scenes at Funcom as well as the first-ever released gameplay footage showing ‘The Park’ in action. Creative Director Joel Bylos, Art Director Gavin Whelan and Audio Director Simon Poole takes time to explain what ‘The Park’ is all about and what players can expect to see and do once they step through the gates of Atlantic Island Park. Focusing entirely on atmosphere, exploration and a strong narrative, ‘The Park’ draws inspiration from games such as ‘Gone Home’, ‘Dear Esther’ and ‘The Vanishing of Ethan Carter’.

“For the last ten years, Funcom has been focused on making massively multiplayer online games, so ‘The Park’ is our first single-player experience in a long time,” says Creative Director Joel Bylos. “It has been an incredibly fun and rewarding process working on ‘The Park’. What initially started out as a prototype and a way for us to learn new development tools, has evolved into a short and intense psychological horror experience which we are all very excited to share with gamers out there.”

For more information about ‘The Park’, please visit the official website at www.theparkgame.com. ‘The Park’ will be released for the Windows PC later this month.

Tales of Halloween Review

tales-of-halloween-still-2

Tales of Halloween is a ten story anthology flick revolving around the scariest night of the year, Halloween. Each of the tales was directed by a different person, giving them all their own, unique style. These anthology flicks are becoming a lot more popular these days, with movies such as the ABCs of Death and V/H/S sprawling into full franchises. Of course, these types of films have been around a while with Tales from the Crypt, “Tales from the Darkside”, and “Trick ‘r Treat”.

Some of the standout tales include “The Ransome of Rusty Rex” by Ryan Schifrin, “The Night Billy Raised Hell” by Darren Lynn Bousman, and “This Means War” by Andrew Kasch and John Skipp – although, there is something to like about all of the tales presented in the film. The only tale that didn’t quite resonate with me was “The Weak and the Wicked” by Paul Solet which, while I admire its high-concept, just didn’t come together enough in execution.

tales-of-halloween-still-3

The segments are sometimes spooky, sometimes gory but always entertaining, and I loved Adrienne Barbeau in the role of a radio disc jokey (an homage to her role in John Carpenter’s The Fog) to act as a link between all of the tales. Speaking of homages, the film has a ton of genre cred. For instance, the kid in the film’s first segment, titled “Sweet Tooth”, is dressed up as Snake Plissken from John Carpenter’s Escape from New York! Also making cameos are John Landis, Barbara Crampton, to name just a couple. Just keep your eyes peeled as there are a ton more to notice in the film.

Overall, Tales of Halloween is an entertaining horror-comedy anthology that is worth watching this Halloween season. Hopefully, it will spawn a sequel and become a franchise so we can see more Tales of Halloween next Halloween!

LifeTrak Zoom Kickstarter A Third of the Way to Goal

lifetrak-zoom-promo-image

FREMONT, Calif., Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — LifeTrak, a leader in consumer fitness, heart rate and activity monitoring wearables today announced the launch of Zoom, the world’s first amphibious fitness tracker that seeks to meet the needs of multi-sport athletes. Zoom is the first of its kind that offers flexwear technology and accurate heart rate monitoring both in water and on land, making it the only fitness tracker an athlete ever needs. LifeTrak is launching a crowdfunding campaign to engage with early customers and gain their feedback as they move in to production.

Zoom is the only continuous wear fitness tracker that constantly monitors heart rate day and night, as well as during workouts on land and even in water. It not only assists with heart rate zone training during workouts, but also obtains the most accurate 24-hour calorie burn numbers. Additionally, it monitors steps, distance and sleep quality. Unlike other devices that require daily recharging, Zoom has a battery life of up to five days.

“Your heart rate is the single best indicator of your health and at LifeTrak, we believe if everyone were able to read their heart rate more accurately, they could live healthier lives.  As a very active person, I’ve always wished I could monitor my own heart rate anywhere, all the time, but have found chest straps uncomfortable, wristbands limiting and am still looking for a viable solution for swimming. The fact that many athletes were looking for those same features is what inspired us to create Zoom,” Mike Hosey, president of LifeTrak, said.

The device’s flexible wear options mean that Zoom can be worn on the most comfortable part of the body and areas which allow for the most accurate heart rate tracking. For example, while swimming, Zoom can be placed inside a specialized swim cap to capture a more accurate reading on the wearer’s head. These options aim to simplify fitness tracking, making Zoom the only fitness tracking device an athlete needs.

Zoom launches on Kickstarter on Oct. 1, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern.  Quantities are limited. Early-bird backers who contribute $99 to the campaign will receive a Zoom device plus all the flexwear technology accessories.
