Downward Spiral: Horus Station Launch Trailer

Helsinki, Finland – May 31st, 2018 – Independent game and technology studio, 3rd Eye Studios’ long-awaited zero-gravity space adventure, Downward Spiral: Horus Station is out now on Steam, with optional Oculus Rift with Touch, HTC Vive, and Windows Mixed Reality support for $19.99 / €14.99 / £14.99. A PlayStation 4 release will follow this summer, with optional PlayStation VR support.

“Horus has been made by a small, passionate and bold team that wanted to tell a different kind of science fiction story,” said Gregory Louden, Lead Designer of 3rd Eye Studios. We can’t wait for players to discover our world, message and question for them by the end. We’ve brought all of our experience from games, cinema and music to create something we feel is atmospheric and different.”

Set aboard an abandoned space station, Downward Spiral: Horus Station lets players uncover the sci-fi mystery on their own, through close observation and interpretation. With no cutscenes, dialogue or text, players will have to rely on environmental storytelling to piece the plot together, as they explore this derelict vessel. Solving the mystery of the space station will take wits and ingenuity as you fight or avoid dangers unknown. Use the ship’s maintenance hardware – like bolt throwers, rail guns, and arc welders to take out threats, solve puzzles and find the truth as to why Horus Station has been left drifting in space.

Key to this otherworldly atmosphere is Downward Spiral: Horus Station’s novel zero-gravity movement mechanic, wherein players must push themselves off of the scenery or use grappling tools to navigate this chunky, 70’s retro-chic space station. Further accentuating this trippy mood is an ambient soundtrack composed by platinum selling HIM frontman Ville Valo.

3rd Eye Studios realizes that not everyone likes to play games the same way, soDownward Spiral: Horus Station features a bevy of gameplay options to tailor the experience. Those with Virtual Reality and motion control kits can engage with an extra level of immersion, the whole game can be played entirely in single-player or two-player co-op, and there’s even a game mode that removes combat entirely from the campaign for players who prefer a more relaxed, contemplative experience. In addition to Horus Station’s story campaign, there’s eight-player PvP and PvE multiplayer modes including Deathmatch, Horde, and Survivor challenges.

What critics are saying:

  • “As far as games set in space go, this one will be a game changer.” – Paste
  • “With a well-crafted movement system and gorgeous visuals, the game is shaping up to be a well-crafted, space-faring mystery.” – Hardcore Gamer
  • “The most effortless way I’ve ever navigated zero-G in a video game.” – GameCritics

Overload Out Now

Thursday, May 31 2018 — Revival Productions’ Overload, the spiritual successor to the classic six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) tunnel shooter Sci-Fi game Descent, is now available for PC (Windows, Mac, & Linux) for $29.99 on Steam and GoG. Overload’s Early Access version received a user rating of 96% on Steam.  The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will release in the third quarter of 2018.

Revival Productions was founded by Matt Toschlog and Mike Kulas, co-founders of legendary Parallax Software, creators of the Sci-Fi classic Descent. “If you loved Descent, then Overload is the true spiritual successor you have been waiting for. It plays like Descent, the mechanics and level design feel like Descent, and it looks and sounds amazing,” said Mike Kulas, co-creator, Revival Productions.  Matt Toschlog added, “For someone who never played Descent, think of Overload as a hardcore, intense Sci-fi FPS in a world where the action takes place on all sides of the player.  Descent features a deep single-player story campaign, a highly-replayable Challenge Mode with online leaderboards, and individual and team-based multiplayer modes.”

Descent, developed by Parallax Software and published by Interplay in 1995, received critical acclaim for its 3D six-degree-of-freedom gameplay that combined the best of space flight simulation with FPS experience. Offering both single player and multiplayer experiences, Descent gave players three axes of rotation and three axes of movement unlike other FPS games that have only 2 axes of rotation and 2.5 axes of movement. Six-degrees of freedom adds complexity and depth to control and movement and it takes the standard FPS experience to a whole new level.

Overload offers classic 6DOF play but brings the labyrinthine environments to new and vibrant life with updated features, deeper gameplay, weapons with individual characteristics, dramatically enhanced graphics, the ability to explore levels beyond main objectives, and comes with VR support.

Horror FPS GTFO Releases New Screenshots

May 31, 2018 – 10 Chambers Collective, an independent Swedish development team led by the game designer behind the PAYDAY franchise, Ulf Andersson, announced today that GTFO (www.gtfothegame.com) will be playable for the first time, by appointment at E3 2018 (Concourse Booth #8804). GTFO is a 4-player co-op horror First Person Shooter made with Unity that will test the mettle of the most hardcore players.

Since its announcement trailer debuted at The Game Awards in December 2017, GTFO has been selected by several outlets as one of the most anticipated games of 2018. At E3 2018 10 Chambers Collective is offering the first hands-on for journalists and a small number of selected hardcore fans – who have been picked from their ‘Ambassador Programme’. The playtests will take place behind closed doors and will run on computers from Alienware, powered by NVIDIA GPUs.

“We were blown away when we saw the debut trailer for GTFO during The Game Awards and our excitement was validated after we had the chance to play the game earlier this month,” said Isabelle Riva, Head of Made with Unity, Unity Technologies. “We are so impressed at what the small team of nine people at 10 Chambers Collective has been able to accomplish; it’s a testament to how Unity has the power to unlock the world’s creative potential.”

Together with this announcement, 10 Chambers Collective reveals new in-game screenshots from GTFO. The screenshots reveal a new enemy that uses long, jellyfish-like feelers to detect the players, and can be downloaded here.

Members of 10 Chambers Collective will be attending E3 and release more in-game screenshots and gameplay footage, which will be available to all media at www.gtfothegame.com.

“We‘ve been overwhelmed by the support we got during and after The Game Awards. Getting that kind of exposure when you’re a small self-financed team like us really changed the playing field. Now, with the support of Unity, we’re reaching a higher level once again and GTFO can really become the game we started to fantasize about three years ago”, says Ulf Andersson, founder of 10 Chambers Collective.

GTFO will be released in 2018 and can already be found on Steam. Interact with 10 Chambers Collective on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook, and join the ambassador program to get development info ahead of the public.
