The Long Beach Film Festival is turning up the scares Saturday night with “Nightmares on 4th Street,” a 90-minute collection of horror and dark comedy short films screening Saturday, August 29 at 9 p.m. at the historic Art Theatre of Long Beach.

From killer monsters and deadly dating apps to creepy cults and movies that may actually be the death of you, the late-night block brings together eight wildly different shorts for an evening of campy fun, unexpected twists and screams galore. The lineup includes “A Man Apart,” featuring Will Forte in an encounter with Death; Emmy Award-winning “Roomtone;” “Midnight Movie Club,” where movie night takes a deadly turn; “Matches,” a dating app transformed into a cutthroat competition; “Help,” which explores the thin line between love and killer monsters; “The Seeing Eye Dog Who Saw Too Much;” “Park Boys,” where YouTube gets scary; and “Prime,” a twisted look at a health craze that may be more cult than cure.

“Nightmares on 4th Street” is part of the Long Beach Film Festival, taking place August 28–30, 2026, with a weekend of independent films, filmmakers and special events throughout Long Beach. Screenings will take place at the Art Theatre, with the Festival kicking off Friday evening with an Opening Night celebration aboard the Queen Mary.
