During a Gamescom community panel, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment offered fans a first look at the next major expansion for The Division 2, officially titled “Echoes of Central Park.” Alongside the reveal of the DLC’s key art and details on the game’s upcoming season, the developers outlined a distinctly darker, more horror-infused direction for the franchise.

While New York City has long served as a core backdrop for The Division, Central Park has remained one of its most prominent unexplored locations. In Echoes of Central Park, players will head to Manhattan’s Upper West Side to answer a mysterious distress call originating from within the overgrown, quarantined park. With no intelligence on what has transpired inside since the initial outbreak, Agents must investigate local mysteries and rally support before venturing into the unknown.

Key Highlights:

  • A Shift in Tone: The expansion leans heavily into themes of mystery and psychological fear, introducing a darker atmosphere while maintaining the franchise’s tactical Tom Clancy identity.
  • New Narrative & Setting: Set around the fearful Upper West Side, Agents face the unknown as they attempt to breach Central Park.
  • Gameplay-First Focus: The development team emphasized that the DLC is designed around substantial gameplay innovations rather than serving solely as a narrative expansion.

A full reveal detailing gameplay mechanics, features, and launch details is scheduled for September 24.
