Stoke Games is pleased to announce that the playtest for their multiplayer tank shooter, Tyr, is now open to all on Steam and will be run until August 2nd.

Tyr is a free-to-play multiplayer tank shooter that emphasizes strategy over twitch reflexes. Stoke Games has shaped and refined the game based on player feedback through more than three years of playtesting with a private, growing community. The team at Stoke and Tyr’s welcoming community are excited for new players to join the fray and experience a cerebral multiplayer shooter where positioning and strategic decision-making are key to victory.

Today, Stoke has released a new video giving you a beginner-friendly overview on the game’s key systems to prepare you to take to the battlefield. Learn how you can use angles to hit weak spots on enemy tanks and utilize your own tank’s unique armor profile to deflect shots, how you can spot enemies while avoiding being spotted yourself, and how each tank’s ability impacts the battlefield..

In Tyr, your choice of tank can help define the role you take on for your team: focus on the vital task of spotting enemies with a mobile light tank, snipe from distance with a deadly-but-vulnerable damage dealer, or rumble into close engagements and brawls with a heavy tank.

Upgrade and evolve each tank to suit your playstyle with individual tech trees, ammo slots, and component upgrades. Tyr’s progression system respects its players’ time and the game’s competitive integrity; there will be no fancy new tanks reserved only for those prepared to fork out huge wads of cash, no pay-to-win weapons, and no game-breaking consumables. Tyr is free-to-play done right.
