Today, NEXON and The First Descendant development team revealed key details in a special dev note for a new update coming on June 18. This update will include a collaboration event with legendary anime series franchise EVANGELION, Descendant Fest 2026 to celebrate the game’s second anniversary, Bunny balance update, new content, in-game events and more.
‘The First Descendant x EVANGELION’ Collaboration
The dev team showcased an upcoming collaborative crossover with the legendary anime series franchise EVANGELION, featuring the likenesses of three pilots: Rei Ayanami, Asuka Shikinami Langley and Mari Makinami Illustrious. The collaboration allows players to equip various cosmetic items, including the pilots’ Plugsuits and hairstyles, as well as makeup styled after their distinctive looks. A wide array of additional themed cosmetics, including accessories, emotes, pin badges and weapon skins can be seen within The First Descendant’s game world during this collaboration event.
‘The First Descendant x EVANGELION’ event will run for six weeks from June 18 to July 30. Players can earn exclusive rewards, including collaborative name cards and photo frames, by completing various in-game missions, such as logging in, completing research, defeating Wall Crasher and entering operation zones.
Descendant Fest 2026
Also, to celebrate The First Descendant’s second anniversary, NEXON will be holding a special event, revealing the roadmap for the second half of the year, special events and a special story trailer during Descendant Fest 2026 on July 1 at 5:00 PM PT.
Monthly Descendant Balance Update: ‘Bunny’
This update will primarily focus on revamping and adjusting Bunny’s performance by restricting ‘Maximum Power,’ which had low synergy with her existing skill set, to be exclusively usable with the ‘Electric Charge’ module, and replacing it with ‘Flash Kick,’ an instant-cast dash/charge skill. Additionally, Bunny’s skill modules are also undergoing improvements, including her usability, which is enhanced by adding diverse effects tailored to the unique characteristics of each skill module.
New Content Added
This update features newly added content, including an Axion Plains Dungeon and a New Ultimate Weapon. The Axion Plains Dungeon: Bastion of Immortality is a new infiltration dungeon being added to the Axion Plains. This location reveals how the Vulgus have been utilizing the research data and facilities stolen from the ‘Void Vessel.’ ‘The Administrator’, loyal to Amon, will appear as the dungeon’s boss, and it features an enhanced randomized route system. With one of four paths determined at the start of the mission, the combat routes and turret compositions will change accordingly, allowing players to experience a fresh flow of combat every time.
The New Ultimate Weapon, ‘Shackles of Mortality,’ is a Hand Cannon themed after the Reaper, featuring the unique ability ‘Rest’ which inflicts continuous damage to targets. When an enemy afflicted with ‘Rest’ dies, the effect spreads to nearby targets, making it highly effective against groups of enemies.
June Events
Through this update, new events will take place for players to participate in. From June 18 to July 15, the Ultimate Weapon Growth Mission II event will take place and offer players support weapon progression by providing additional crafting materials and Gold at each stage of acquiring weapon cores, enhancing/converting weapons and rolling weapon options.
At the same time, an attendance/login event will occur and the main rewards include ‘Freyna’s Medical Support Skin’ and ‘Valby’s Sea Day Mascot Skin,’ and players can also obtain various growth-essential items. Until July 2, players can participate in Accelerate Research Week and shorten their research times by completing various research boosts and acceleration content. Until August 20, Back to Albion will be a dedicated event for returning players whose last login was more than 30 days ago. It offers a variety of growth support rewards upon completing specific challenges.
A dedicated Boost Path will run until August 20, designed specifically for beginners with a Mastery Rank of 15 or lower, allowing them to naturally progress through the game by following the pass from the start.
