Pirates, aliens, hidden treasure, and spaceships – Jon Watts and Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: Homecoming) have meticulously crafted a tale of four kids on the adventure of a lifetime through a far, far away world of grown-ups. Its winning and clever homage to the 80’s Amblin era style of family adventures, that feels at times like what it was like to play Star Wars in your backyard, or living room as a child.
Mick Giacchino (The Penguin) knows this better than anyone – giving weight and sincerity to a story that is equal parts joyful, scary and fun. The score is full of life, bombast and a swashbuckling energy that makes it one of the best collections of modern Star Wars themes to date.
