Today ArenaNet, developer of the critically acclaimed MMORPG Guild Wars 2, announced the upcoming vinyl edition soundtrack for the game’s latest expansion, Secrets of the Obscure. This double LP set will be created by Materia Music and released in Q2 of 2024 for $39.99 and can be pre-ordered here.

The soundtrack will feature 24 tracks composed by Maclaine Diemer, Bryan Atkinson, and others. The track selections will reflect the otherworldly nature of Secrets of the Obscure’s cross-dimensional locations and antagonists; from the Wizard’s Tower to Nayos, the Realm of Dreams, this new lineup of songs is punctuated by dark, heavy music, with pounding drums, distorted textures, and snarling vocals, all swirling together in chaotic dissonance.

Additionally, ArenaNet will be partnering with Materia Music to make the majority of the Guild Wars 2 soundtrack available on most major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Amazon, and YouTube.

Materia Music is the world’s leading independent record label and music distributor, publisher, and rights administrator of video game music. For nearly a decade, Materia has propelled the creation and licensing of hundreds of album releases on vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

“Continuing our long tradition of putting the Guild Wars 2 soundtrack on vinyl and finally releasing most of the rest of the game’s music on digital streaming platforms means fans of the game can continue to build their record library with these stunning record productions and listen to their favorite tracks wherever they want,” said Guild Wars 2 lead composer Maclaine Diemer.

“We are proud to partner with ArenaNet to elevate the musical legacy of Guild Wars 2 and spotlight the composers of such memorable themes. Bringing the music of Tyria to vinyl is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to share what else we have in store.” – Sebastian Wolff, Founder and CEO, Materia Music.
