League of Geeks, developers of successful indie strategy game Armello and roguelite colony sim Jumplight Odyssey, have today announced that Solium Infernum launches its first playable demo to celebrate the upcoming Steam Next Fest, October 9th-15th, 2023. Alongside the demo, the studio has released a new trailer showcasing gameplay details of the game.

The demo lets players experience the political grand strategy game of subterfuge, intrigue, and betrayal set in Hell. Players will be able to play skirmish matches including a tutorial, and command their legions by choosing amongst four Great Archfiends to claim the Infernal Throne for themselves. Each match can be played in a unique way by choosing from a variety of tactics and choosing secret Schemes to suit different playstyles.

At launch, Solium Infernum will offer all-new single-player scenarios and asynchronous multiplayer matches, providing a full range of experiences, from 2-4 hour single-player games to epic, weeklong, six-player multiplayer games requiring only a few minutes to play a day. The game is a re-imagined vision of Vic Davis’ cult classic modernized and completely rebuilt in 3D with an updated visual interface to bring it in line with League of Geek’s unique and acclaimed aesthetic and production values.

“As dedicated grand strategy enthusiasts ourselves, we are dedicated to crafting Solium Infernum into the game we want to play. We aspire to create a new standard in the genre that will captivate both seasoned players and newcomers,” said Trent Kusters, Co-Founder and Director of League of Geeks. “Our objective extends beyond preserving the intrigues and betrayals that have made the original game one of the most remarkable strategy games ever produced. We are also committed to infusing League of Geek’s distinctive and highly-praised aesthetic and production values into this venture. This demo is a testament to that commitment and a tribute to the legacy of the original game. We can’t wait to watch how players backstab and scheme their way to the thrones.”

Solium Infernum will be launched on PC via Steam in early 2024. For more information, please visit the game’s official website and wishlist Solium Infernum now on Steam.
