AOC Announces Premium AGON 32 Inch Monitor

Fremont, Calif. – October 11, 2018 – AOC, a worldwide leader in monitor display technology, today announces the first member of the premium AGON monitor line with HDR support, the AG322QC4 gaming monitor.

The AG322QC4 is a curved 32-inch, QHD HDR gaming monitor with a refresh rate of 144Hz, 4ms response time and AMD’s FreeSync2 technology. FreeSync2 is AMD’s HDR-compatible technology. This monitor is made for enthusiast gamers, who want both high-performance visuals without stutter, screen tearing or motion blur, and a gorgeous visual experience with HDR. This is AOC’s first monitor with Display HDR400 certification.

The 32-inch monitor features a 2560 x 1440 QHD screen with a 1800R curve. The curved VA panel offers vibrant colors with high dynamic range for a more exciting and immersive visual experience to be enjoyed while gaming. The display also covers 85 percent of the NTSC. The AG322QC4’s curve conforms to the way the eye sees and helps reduce eye fatigue.

The display features AMD FreeSync2 technology to provide a smooth, fast and visually stunning gaming experience, with support for HDR visuals. FreeSync2 synchronizes the display’s refresh rates to the GPU in gamers’ AMD-powered PCs to eliminate screen-tearing and minimize display stutter and input lag. This results in fluid and responsive gameplay, with objects appearing sharper, scenes appearing instantly and more vibrant in visual quality than on other monitors. AMD FreeSync2 delivers a smooth and fast gaming experience with a serious competitive edge.

The new AGON monitor also packs in additional AOC monitor technologies such as Shadow Control, AOC’s FlickerFree technology and LowBlue Mode. With AOC’s Shadow Control, gamers can adjust shadow levels in the on-screen display menu to increase contrast for better dark areas without affecting the rest of the screen. Eye comfort is one of the most important considerations for outlasting the competition, and since the AGON displays are designed specifically for the competitive gamer, they feature eye-protecting AOC Flicker-Free Technology to reduce eye strain, discomfort, and fatigue during long gaming sessions. The AG322QC4 goes even further with its Low Blue Light mode, reducing adverse short wavelength blue light without sacrificing color quality.

The AG322QC4 is now available at Amazon and Newegg for $549.99.

Cities: Skylines Industries DLC Announced

STOCKHOLM – Oct. 11, 2018 – Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order today announced the next industrial update for Cities: Skylines on PC, Mac and Linux. Industries, launching October 23rd will put one of the game’s three zones in the spotlight for the first time.

“With this expansion, players can make more meaningful choices in their cities’ industry by managing their production chains from grain to bread.” said Sandra Neudinger, Product Manager from Paradox Interactive. “The players have been asking for an industrial expansion for a while, so we’re excited to finally offer a full featured approach.”

In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this DLC. Players can build unique factories and customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.

Key Features:

  • Make It Happen – Follow your products from harvesting to processing, storage and production, then transport them to commercial zones or export to other cities.
  • Captain Your Own Industry – Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product. Industry Areas are divided into four types based on the natural resource they are processing: Farming, Forest, Ore and Oil. These areas can level up upon reaching productions goals and staffing requirements.
  • Build it up, Buttercup – New industrial buildings include Extractors, Warehouse Facilities, Processing and Auxiliary Buildings, Industrial Props and Roads. Unique Factories, such as Food, Toy, Furniture, Car and Electronics produce luxury products, and require a large quantity of workers, water and electricity as well as input from your industries.
  • Ship It – Manage traffic and logistics with industry warehouses and the use of the new Cargo Services including a cargo airport.
  • Go Postal – Boost your citizens’ well-being with mail delivery and collection services. Post sorting facilities handle mail between outside connections and the post offices, and new Post Van and Truck vehicles enable the carriage.
  • Wonk Hard  – Three new Industry Policies and four City-wide Policies, including Workers’ Union, Sorting, Tolls, Wi-Fi, Logistics, Work Safety and Automation.
  • Five New Maps – Rich in natural resources, transportation options and industrial opportunities, these new maps have all the right stuff.
  • Four new hats for Chirper!

Check out the developer tutorial series on YouTube for new videos with tips and tricks everyday until launch!

But wait! There’s more! Coinciding with the Industries expansion, Cities: Skylines is getting a new radio channel and a free content update.

Synthetic Dawn Radio is the most far-out radio station to land in-game ever! It features 16 original new songs across four genres: 80s Electro, Vocoding Electro, Breakbeats and Futuristic Synths. Players can tune in and zone out to some stellar tunes as synth-spin master DJ Jessica Statler brings the funk.

The free update coming alongside Industries will introduce toll booths (and road tolls, naturally), which will slow traffic’s roll a bit, but generate extra income for the city. Players will also get the option to mark zoned buildings as historical, preserving their style, and the ability to create custom name lists for citizens, districts and spawned buildings.

King Crab DLC Announced for Fishing: Barents Sea

Moenchengladbach/Germany, October 10, 2018 – “Become the king of crabs“ – following this motto, fearless sea dogs will get the chance to prove their king crab fishing skills among the untamed waves of the icy Barents Sea this November. astragon Entertainment and Norwegian developer studio Misc Games will release these valuable crustaceans to populate the virtual seabed of the new King Crab DLC for Fishing: Barents Sea. The long-awaited expansion will add even more exciting content and new fishing methods to the popular fishing and ship simulation on PC.

With two brand-new ships virtual fishermen can add even more variety to their everyday lives on the high seas. The capable Selfy is inspired by the ship models of the new license partner and fishing vessel manufacturer Selfa Arctic AS. With her compressed size Selfy will be the player’s ideal companion for a successful start into the king crab fishing business while the large Svalbard will significantly increase the crab quota in the later stages of the game. Both vessels are fully equipped for catching the valuable king crabs and therefore just perfect for a successful career in the important North Norwegian crab fishing industry.

Just like any other species of prey in the game, the majestic king crabs can be located by sonar. After successfully identifying an area with high chances of a rich crab population, the fisher will lower baited pots to the seabed. After enough time has passed, he will pull in the pots once more and discover a new mini game: Unlike other species such as cod or shellfish, there is an official law, which states that king crabs have to be sorted by gender. Female crabs will be thrown back into the ocean to provide many new descendants while the male crabs can be sold for significant earnings upon arrival at the harbor.

By learning this fishing method a responsible fisherman will not only secure the survival of the king crab population in the waters of the Barents Sea but also get the chance to become – step by step – the largest fishing operator with the richest assortment of fish and seafood in Northern Norway.

The King Crab DLC will be available on Steam™ in November 2018. The main game Fishing: Barents Sea for PC is already available in retail or as a digital download for 19.99 Euro/19.99 USD/16.99 GBP (RRP).

Razer Unveils Razer Phone 2

LOS ANGELES – Razer, the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers, today announced the Razer Phone 2, the very definition of flagship performance and true mobile gaming.

After creating the category of gaming phones with the first Razer Phone in 2017, Razer further pushed the boundaries of mobile devices to power the world of mobile esports and entertainment.

“The first Razer Phone disrupted the smartphone industry and created a new category,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer Inc. “With the Razer Phone 2, we have pulled out the stops to define flagship and gaming on our terms.”

GAMING // PERFORMANCE

The Razer Phone 2 offers up to 30 percent more performance than its predecessor, thanks to the combination of the latest flagship components and thermal cooling solutions.

The Qualcomm 845 Snapdragon chipset and Qualcomm Adreno 630 graphics processing unit (GPU) will blitz through the most demanding apps, and their performance is further enhanced by the Razer vapor chamber cooling system that provides for industry-leading thermal cooling.

The vapor chamber provides more surface area for heat to dissipate, while sustaining high frame rates for an overall cooler and more powerful experience.

FLAGSHIP // CAMERA

The Razer Phone 2 improves on its imaging capabilities with a new rear dual-camera setup that offers a 12 MP wide-angle lens with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom. Be it fast action or low-light scenes, the Sony IMX sensors are tuned to produce low-noise images with a wide gamut of colors.

On the front, the 8 MP camera supports video streaming at full HD resolution, a boon for all live-streaming professionals.

The Razer Phone 2 camera app comes with a new user interface that allows for easy one-handed operation for portraits and scenic panoramas. Razer is committed to constantly provide software updates to take advantage of the latest improvements in the imaging space.

FLAGSHIP // ESSENTIALS

The Razer Phone 2 is now powered by Razer Chroma, the world’s most popular RGB lighting system for gamers.

The rear of the phone features the Razer triple-headed snake logo that glows in 16.8 million colors to provide app notifications (such as Facebook comments or WhatsApp messages). Razer Chroma also allows you to customize lighting effects such as Static, Spectrum Cycling and Breathing.

Wireless charging is now enabled on the Razer Phone 2 with its new glass back. Razer has announced its new wireless charger with Chroma – the world’s largest RGB lighting ecosystem.

If you prefer plugging in a USB-C cable, Qualcomm QuickCharge 4+ allows users to charge the phone from a flat battery to 50 percent charge within just 30 minutes.

The Razer Phone 2 has also been tested for IP67 resistance to dust and water.

GAMING // TRUE 120 HZ DISPLAY

One year after Razer launched the world’s first true gaming phone, the Razer Phone 2 continues to take the lead with the only true 120 Hz display – now with even better performance for those who love for high framerates and silky-smooth action without any lag or stuttering.

Unlike other competing phones, the Razer Phone 2’s 5.7-inch UltraMotion™ IGZO display remains the only display in the industry that offers both 120 Hz screen refresh and 120 Hz touch sampling. What you see is what you touch.

The new display is now 50 percent brighter than the one in the first Razer Phone.

GAMING // DUAL FRONT-FACING SPEAKERS

The first Razer Phone made history by being able to churn out audio at record levels without distortion. The Razer Phone 2 is even louder and clearer than before, thanks to upgraded hardware and Dolby Atmos.

The dual front-spacing speakers take up home position on the top and bottom bezels, allowing for both incredible sound projection across any room, as well as an ergonomic form factor for long hours of handheld gaming.

GAMING // BATTERY LIFE

The Razer Phone 2 packs a 4,000 mAH capacity battery for all-day gaming and entertainment needs, and Razer continues to improve battery efficiency.

Where its predecessor was benchmarked for 10 hours of battery life at a screen refresh rate setting of 90 Hz, the Razer Phone 2 is optimized to also last 10 hours at a higher 120 Hz[1].

The Razer Phone works with LTE Gigabit networks with download speeds up to 1.2 Gbit/s, allowing for 20 percent faster downloads while on the go.

GAMING // OPTIMIZED

As the pioneer in PC esports, and now mobile esports, Razer continues to work with the largest number of game publishers in the industry to bring about the best gaming experiences.

The Razer Phone 2 has been optimized for today’s hottest mobile titles like “PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG Mobile),” “Rival Crimson x Chaos,” “Marvel Future Fight,” “Guns of Boom,” “RuneScape” and more.

Netflix

The Razer Phone 2 is the only phone officially certified by Netflix for HDR (high dynamic range) video content and Dolby Surround 5.1 audio content.

Razer Cortex

Razer introduces Razer Cortex, the app that was built for mobile gamers.

Razer Cortex will help users organize their games on their phone, as well as recommend the latest games optimized for 120 Hz gaming. It will also optimize the Razer Phone 2’s performance for different games, either with easy presets or manual settings.

Razer Cortex is now available on Google Play Store, and will work with a variety of phones.

Razer Theme Store

The Razer Theme Store on the Razer Phone 2 offers exclusive themes and wallpapers featuring today’s top gaming titles. Today gamers can already enjoy themes featuring “Vainglory,” “Arena of Valor,” “Tekken,” “Guns of Boom,” “Gear Club” and “Titan Assault,” and you can soon download “PUBG Mobile” themes.

Castle Dark 2018 Review

If you live in Riverside or are a hardcore fan of Southern California theme parks, you probably have heard of Castle Park. Built in 1976 by famed theme park ride designer Bud Hurlbut, Castle Park has been entertaining families for decades. Now owned by Palace Entertainment, the park has created Castle Dark, their annual Halloween time event. Castle Dark features four haunted houses, or “mazes”, as well as their arcade, miniature golf courses, and more!

One of the coolest things about Castle Dark is that it is not a separate admission from the normal day’s goings on at the park. You can buy your Duke’s Deluxe Pass in the afternoon and stay all the way until the scares stop that evening. A deluxe pass is only $17.99, a real deal when looking at other haunted attractions of this scale. Castle Park contains a variety of carnival style food eats, as well as a coffee bar inside the castle arcade structure itself. Also inside the arcade is Ghost Blasters, a really cool shoot ’em up ride similar to the Buzz Lightyear Astro-Blasters at Disneyland.

Outside the arcade, you’ll find the park’s four haunted houses, “Nightmare”, “Along Came a Spider”, “La Vey Institute”, and “Oblivion” – all of which all have a very indie haunt vibe. Admittedly, the production value of these mazes doesn’t seem all that high, but we had a fun time going through them nonetheless. The monsters inside are giving great energy and there is enough eye candy and props about to make it interesting to look at. The street zone area of Castle Dark isn’t very big, but you will definitely find more than a few monsters stalking around, scaring guests where they can. This isn’t the same kind of scary experience for adults like Halloween Horror Nights or Knott’s Scary Farm are, but you might just have some fun jump scares throughout your night – I know I did!

In the daytime, you’ll find the park hosting Dia de los Muertos activities for the youngsters. This is a super family-friendly event where young children can go through a small hay maze as well as enjoy the kiddie rides that the park has to offer.

Overall, Castle Dark is an excellent value for $17.99 and great for Inland Empire families looking to have some Halloween fun without having to trek out to Orange County. Castle Dark runs Fridays through Sundays throughout October. You can find ticket information and more at the event’s official website.
