New Blood Bowl 2 Screenshots Released

Bloodbowl2-05

March 5, 2014 — Blood Bowl 2, published by Focus Home Interactive, is the sequel to Blood Bowl, the video game developed by Cyanide studios based on the famous board game created by Games Workshop that combines American football with the fantastic universe of Warhammer. Development is going full steam ahead for the scheduled release date in Q4 2014, and we can now unveil a series of exclusive screenshots to show you the vast, impressive orc and human stadiums.

The magnificent stadiums in Blood Bowl 2 are scalable and can be developed to become increasingly imposing as the player spends the winnings earned in the solo and multiplayer campaigns to upgrade them and add new infrastructures. Players can build their stadiums up from modest training grounds to truly grandiose edifices that rival the most prestigious structures in the real world. They also play an active part in recreating the supercharged atmosphere of a Blood Bowl match, where volatile fans pack the stands ready to cheer on their favourite team or invade the pitch and trample on the players!

But the improvements and extensions designed by the players are not for aesthetic purposes alone; they will also have a direct impact on the game experience. Additional stands and infrastructures not only generate extra opportunities and bonuses for the team, but will also mean a greater number of spectators and higher revenues from every match! What could be better than to crush your opponent amid the clamour of a volatile crowd!

Blood Bowl 2 is even more ambitious than the previous installment with an overhauled look and a variety of new features. Its brand new graphics engine was specifically developed for this sequel, enabling the game to display high-quality visuals, graphics, and effects that take the Blood Bowl license to the next level. Animations have been overhauled, dynamic cameras bring more punch to the matches, and the “Cabalvision” interface and corrosive commentators Jim Johnson and Bob Bifford all faithfully recreate the thrills and atmosphere of intense Blood Bowl games.

Blood Bowl 2 also brings a bunch of new features to Solo and Multiplayer modes making it more accessible for first-time players and more enjoyable for seasoned veterans. A stunning and ambitious Solo campaign puts players at the head of one of Blood Bowl’s most famous teams and challenges them to climb to the top through a series of original and truly unique matches. League mode lets players manage their own team, club, and even stadium. We’ll soon be showing off some of these substantial and striking innovations that make Multiplayer mode even more thrilling.

We look forward to revealing more of Blood Bowl 2 over the coming weeks and months with new screenshots and the first game videos.

RunPhones Summer Version Speaker Headband Review

RunPhones-Blue-Product-Only_0

You may recall our recent review of AcousticSheep’s SleepPhones. We had some issues regarding the mobility of the speaker drivers inside the headband itself, and getting tangled in the headband’s cable as the wearer slept. Thankfully, AcousticSheep’s fitness alternative to the SleepPhones, the RunPhones, is a much more practical product that mostly delivers on its promise to provide audio while on the run or at the gym. The RunPhones are currently available in a “Summer Version”, which means the headband material seen in the SleepPhones has been replaced with a moisture-wicking Polartec® PowerDry® mesh material. I love the way this material feels while I am jogging in Southern California weather. In the mornings, when it is actually cold outside, it did a fine job of insulating my forehead and when it heated up, the mesh material allowed enough air to flow through it to keep my forehead cool. For the fashion conscious out there, the RunPhones are available in blue, orange, black, and green colors.

Setting up the RunPhones is as simple as plugging its speaker cord into a 3.5mm output jack on whatever source device you are using. My iPhone 5 had no difficulty interfacing with it and I am very happy to say that the audio, because of it sitting on top of the ear, inside the headband, allowed ambient noise to still be audible. While this means your music is a bit lower than an earbud or headphone that inserts into or completely covers the ear, it is a heck of a lot safer to use while at the gym or running on the trails. I tend to run in more wooded areas and wise is the runner that keeps one ear open as mountain lions are always hungry and runners are crunchy.

The biggest problem I see in selling the RunPhones is the sheer amount of variation in purchasing it. The base price is $39.95 at the official RunPhones website and, thankfully, that covers all three sizes of the band: Small, medium, and large. The issue comes when customizing the speaker cable which, in its standard form, doesn’t raise the price of the unit any further. However, you can select a “Braided (Fabric) Cord” for $5 dollars more, a “Volume Control Cord” (no mention if it’s braided or not) for $10 dollars more, and a “Mic, Play/Pause & Volume Control,” for an additional $20 dollars. Again, there is no mention as to whether the most expensive option features a standard rubber or braided cord. With so much differentiation, it makes reviewing the RunPhones as a product difficult. We got the chance to review a medium size headband with the braided cord, but that might not be the RunPhones purchased by another person. I would rather see AcousticSheep simplify the process in a couple different “tiers” or levels of RunPhones (“RunPhones”, “RunPhones Pro”, “RunPhones Mobile”, etc) based on much broader needs – but, I digress.

In their wisdom, AcousticSheep has designed the RunPhones to be washable, with the speakers pulled out of the headband, of course, and there is plenty of cable length to channel down the back of your track suit, tank top, or whatever else you like to wear while running. The 48″ inch speaker cable might be an issue for those of you who like to run shirtless as you will have to find a way to tie up the slack – perhaps in a sports arm band or something of the like. I usually run in a tank top while wearing a hydration pack, so the speaker cable channeled down into the pack without an issue. I also took the RunPhones into the gym on several occasions – however, I did have to tie up the slack in a fitness arm band as it is not customary to wear a hydro pack inside. With the previously-mentioned AcousticSheep product, the SleepPhones, I had an issue where laying down in bed could cause the speakers to move around inside the headband. Even while jogging, this was far less of an issue with the RunPhones. I am unsure as to whether it has to do with the pocket that the speakers sit in or the material of the headband itself, but it works much better.

Overall, I definitely recommend the AcousticSheep RunPhones for listening to music as you jog. Just be selective as to what type of cord you are choosing as we did not get the opportunity to review anything higher than the most basic version of that option. Being the case, we don’t know what the higher end cords are like and can’t speak on them.

TechSling Geek Holster Review

819184_535018509852734_380746690_o

The TechSling geek holster device is simply a brilliant fashion accessory that makes carrying around your tablet, laptop, and smartphone (not to mention a ton of other types of gadgetry) a very comfortable experience. We recently got the chance to check one out and simply love how it frees up the wearer’s hands to take pictures, shake another person’s hand, etc all while not sacrificing your loadout of mobile devices. The TechSling is the brainchild of Nathan Crawford, whom created TechSlinger in 2012 after trying to juggle several devices at the same time on a business trip.

TechSlinger offers a wide variety of TechSlings, all made from different materials as well as accommodating different sized devices. Their “Diamond Ripstop” model is made from Ripstop Nylon Polyester while their “Magnatuff” TechSling is crafted from 600 Denier Polyester fabric. Each of these materials is very rugged and a lot of times used in tactical gear and equipment for that reason. So, if it can be crafted into an armor plate carrier, it can definitely handle your iPad Mini.

Setting up the TechSling does require a bit of instruction, which is provided inside the package. Unfortunately, I had a hard time deciphering what end of the strap to use on what side of the wearer’s body, but a couple trial and error moments should be all it takes to figure out. The most important piece of knowledge I can give you regarding putting together a TechSling is to make sure the straps that hang towards the front of your body are shorter and cinched up more in comparison to the rear facing straps. This allows the TechSling to take on that shoulder holster form factor and is largely responsible for how the weight distributes across your shoulders as opposed to being off-balanced.

Wearing the TechSling is a very comfortable experience. However, I allowed a couple other people to try it on for a while and one of them described it as having weights hanging from their sides like a pendulum, that swayed when they moved. However, this can be remedied easily by wearing a jacket or sports coat over the TechSling, which will keep the devices from swaying freely. In my personal experience, I didn’t have too big of an issue with that – and feel it’s a small con for an otherwise awesome device carrier. I foresee wearing the TechSling to upcoming events that I need to cover, as it will hold my personal computing devices allowing my hands to be free to wield a camera or take notes.

[ezcol_1half]Pros

  • Great build quality
  • Carries a lot of stuff
  • Comfortable

[/ezcol_1half] [ezcol_1half_end]Cons

  • Without a jacket, the sides of the TechSling tend to sway with movement

[/ezcol_1half_end]

Overall, TechSlinger’s TechSling is an ingenious method of carrying several mobile devices on you at the same time. The TechSling retails anywhere from $64.95 to $69.95 depending on which version you pick up. TechSlinger also offers a restaurant server-oriented sling called “The Side Order”. You can find all of the TechSlinger line at their official website.
