Streaming video game service OnLive has announced the release of a special, exclusive demo of THQ’s upcoming third-person actioner, Red Faction Armageddon. The retail game is due out on June 7th for the Windows PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 platforms although it will also be released on the OnLive service. The game takes place fifty years after the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla and deals with colonists encountering a hostile species beneath the planet’s surface.
“Today marks a milestone for the videogame industry,” said Steve Perlman, OnLive Founder and CEO, “Not only is this the first time a major game pre-release PC demo is available exclusively from OnLive, but it’s the first time a game platform is encouraging gamers to buy a game on their preferred platform, whether or not that is OnLive.
