Schiit Audio Unveils Hel 2 PC Gaming Headphone DAC

Today, Schiit Audio announced the Hel 2, a significant upgrade from Hel, it’s popular PC gaming headphone DAC/amp. Hel 2 offers more power, more connectivity, more compatibility, more modernity, and more quality than the outgoing Hel, at only $10 more. Hel 2 is available now at schiit.com for $199.

“We always saw the original Hel as a PC gaming product,” said Jason Stoddard, Schiit’s co-founder. “We worked with gamers, streamers, and podcasters on the original. But it also found two different audiences: office workers, especially home office workers, who loved the clarity for voice and video conferencing, and just plain old music listeners, who liked having a transportable device they could run off USB.”

The new Hel 2 is designed to build on the strengths of the original, and to serve all three audiences even better. Hel 2 provides:

  • More power: Hel 2 is rated at 1200mW into 32 ohms, 20% more than Hel.
  • More connectivity: Hel 2 adds an optical input, so you can connect it to any TV with an optical output.
  • More compatibility: Hel 2 has built-in UAC2/1 switching, which means it’s now compatible with many gaming consoles like Sony PS4, PS5, and Switch.
  • More modernity: Hel 2 uses USB-C connectors, rather than Hel’s USB-micro.
  • More quality: Hel 2 offers lower noise and higher distortion than Hel.

“The original Hel was really a PC (or Mac) device,” added Stoddard. “Now, it connects to many consoles, almost all smart TVs, monitors that have an optical output, heck, even CD players. With its integrated preamp output, you can connect to powered monitors or power amps, as well as headphones. It may be the one single box you need for virtually all your audio.”

Hel 2 uses super-high-quality parts throughout, with construction more befitting a high-end device. Boasting an AK4490 DAC and AK5720 ADC, a custom Alps potentiometer, as well as multiple TI OPA1656 in a completely DC-coupled topology with 0.5% thin-film resistors and film capacitors, the Hel 2 has some serious audiophile credentials.

Hel 2 is powered entirely by USB, with an included 2.1A USB power supply. A sophisticated bi-polar rail generator creates Hel 2’s +/-12V rails while switching at 3MHz, far above the audio frequency band.

Using the all-new C-Media CM6635 USB receiver, Hel 2 offers exceptional flexibility, including automatic UAC1/UAC2 switching for compatibility with many popular consoles, as well as PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux devices.

Like all Schiit products, Hel 2 is designed and built in California or Texas, with the vast majority of cost going to US companies making parts in the USA. Schiit’s California strategic partners in chassis development, for example, are less than 5 miles away from Schiit, while Schiit’s PCB assembly is done by another strategic partner less than 30 miles away. This close coupling allows for rapid product development and excellent quality.

Hel 2 is available today at schiit.com

Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation Launch Trailer

Developer and Publisher, Tripwire Interactive, is proud to announce that the esteemed title, Killing Floor 2, received another free content update today, Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation. This update maintains Tripwire Interactive’s history of releasing free seasonal content updates for players since the game first launched in 2016. Out now for PlayStation®4, PlayStation®4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the annual spring event comes fully charged with electrifying new weapons, and more.

Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation also introduces a new community map, Dystopia 2029. While conquering waves of zeds under neon lights and in seedy city streets, players can appreciate Dystopia 2029’s bleak futuristic style in standard survival, weekly, and endless game modes.

Additionally, players can slaughter in splendor with Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation’s fresh weaponry. Demolitionists can pick up the Gravity Imploder, which will blast canisters at zeds to implode their heads—or use the alternative fire to draw them closer. Sharpshooters can sing this spring with new HRG weapon: the Beluga Beat. This gun shreds sonically, with the ability to charge up a shot to destroy with greater decibels. These weapons enter the fray with even more content, like added achievements, quality of life tuning, and seasonal store bundles.

And what is dystopia without drip? Killing Floor 2: Dystopian Devastation brings futuristic cosmetic options and skins for players to frenzy with flair, including hats, masks, backpacks, and more. For further details and more on cosmetic and weapon skin bundle specials, head to the official Killing Floor 2 website.

In Killing Floor 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech’s failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original KILLING FLOOR, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding.

Not all have given up hope though… A group of civilians and mercenaries have banded together to combat the outbreak and established privately funded operation bases across Europe. Upon tracking specimen clone outbreaks, players will descend into zed-laden hot zones and exterminate them.

Killing Floor 2 is developed and published by Tripwire Interactive and is published at retail by Deep Silver and Iceberg Interactive for the Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation®4 Pro, PlayStation®4, and PC. This title has been rated M by the ESRB, PEGI 18, USK 18.

Infinite Fleet Counterattack Trailer Released

Game development studio Pixelmatic today announced the release of a new game trailer for revolutionary sci-fi massively multiplayer online (MMO) strategy game Infinite Fleet. Titled Counterattack, the trailer features some of the protagonists of the Infinite Fleet saga, voiced by an all-star cast of voice artists from Dragon Ball Z, Nier: Automata, and Attack on Titan, and is accentuated by the musical work of The Transformers: The Movie composer Vince DiCola.

Set in the year 2150, the trailer presents the continuation of the story surrounding the massive Infinite Fleet universe. In addition to showcasing the epic space combat that awaits gamers, it reveals an exciting new gameplay mechanic for players to explore.

DiCola is a veteran in the music industry who has received worldwide recognition for his scores for the soundtracks of legendary Hollywood titles such as The Transformers: The Movie and Rocky IV. DiCola’s iconic 80’s sound perfectly lends itself to Infinite Fleet’s retro anime art style and vivid storytelling.

Under the #GoGreenWithRazer banner, the program will help preserve nature and protect the environment – ensuring a cleaner, greener world for future generations.

New targets include the use of 100% renewable energy by 2025, all products to use recycled or recyclable materials by 2030, and being 100% carbon neutral by 2030. As part of this movement, Razer is also galvanizing the community – youth, millennials and Gen Z to make a difference through several green initiatives. This includes recycling and being aware of its environmental footprints.

“Through our #GoGreenWithRazer campaign led by our Sneki Snek mascot, the Razer community has been insanely supportive and passionate,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer Co-Founder and CEO. “Awareness of how we impact the environment is incredibly important.
